believe the budget talks should include a discussion about raising the debt ceiling. the deadline to do that is october 17th meaning the shutdown could last for weeks, tahman bradley, abc news, washington. >> maryland's department of labor says it received 4,000 unemployment claims from federal workers tuesday. that's more than the state usually receives from all year from federal workers. and metro says ridership is down 22%. for now we'll continue the regular weekday schedule but each train will have fewer cars. and despite the shutdown, the navy and air force game will go on this weekend in annapolis. that's because games are paid for with monies from sources outside congress' control. but that doesn't mean everything else in annapolis is operating normally. 60% of professors at the u.s. naval academy are civilians and they're furloughed. military teachers are filling in where they can but the school says that can't go on much longer. a maryland mother who

depend on wic are still getting that benefit. we checked with the state health department's website this morning and it tells us they are open for business. but some mothers are worried about the impact of the important program if the shutdown continues. for jennifer walldrop the thought of losing $80 a month in groceries is pretty concerning. >> it helps me decide what foods are nutritionally good to eat right now for my kids' well- being. >> many state wic programs have rainy day funds that let them operate in situations like a shutdown. for one anne arundel county family the government shutdown could mean the ends of a dream. rhonda has cancer and it attacks her fat cells and the deep issues surrounding internal organs. she always wanted to see the grand canyon and a foundation put together a trip but now the park is closed. >> i think just being out there, being in god's nature

investigators are looking for two people who shot two others in middle river. it happened last night on south horn road near grove thorn road. back in the neighborhood near kingston park. police say both victims were taken to the hospital and we don't know their conditions right now. all right, take a good look at the face you see in the monitor right here. this is christopher goode. he is the latest man to be dubbed public enemy number one by baltimore city police. he stabbed a woman last month and according to their report, goode has a child with that victim. he is also wanted for a number of crimes in ohio and again christopher goode is who police are looking for. he is the new public enemy number one. if you know him call police immediately. also this morning, bookworms and movie fans are mourning the loss of tom clancy. we claimed the author as our own but his books and movies were loved all over the world. the 66-year-old writer passed away yesterday. clancy's life was rooted in maryland. he grew up in baltimore and attended school here. clancy was also a minor owner

out with the funk, in with the jive. stress release, pain relief. better night's rest. all good reasons to try yoga or you may think. but maybe not if you're a guy. recent study shows men are getting hurt in a yoga studio at a much higher rate than women and here's the kicker. the injuries for the guys are much more serious. take a look. it's an early morning at the yoga studio and on this day, men outnumber women three to one. it's a different picture than a year ago when women were the only student ever students for this -- for this instructor. now you'll find glasses specially -- classed specially gears to guys, rachel witnessed it in her own fitness center. >> many of them are athletes and they're really enjoying the

health benefit that they're getting from the practice. >> as fuller is a triathlete and he started yoga two months ago. now he's a regular. >> it's really natural way and it's very strenuous and yet it works the muscle groups you may not work in any other kind of sport. >> for former yoga enthusiast michael con tee. a former life is over. he now lives his life in pain and he blames yoga. >> thought maybe i tweaked my knee or something. and then it turned out to be much more serious than just a you know meniscus problem. it was nerve damage. >> after reading the science of yoga, michael wrote to the author. broad started to investigate federal data on emergency room visits for yoga related gyres. -- injuries. although men made up 16% of the study they accounted for 20% of the strains, 24% of the dislocations and 30% of the fractures and a whopping 71% of

we're going to really warm up the temperatures as well as high pressure is in control. this high pressure will start to move off towards the east and that's going to give us more of a return flow. so we're going to be even warmer. some say it will be hot as we head towards tomorrow with those temperatures in the upper 780s. for today -- 80s. for today i'm going with the mid 80s. but the tropics yell we're looking at this area of disturbed weather and right now the tip of the yucatan peninsula. this is poised to move into the gulf of mexico and once it does so, any time today we're really thinking this could be tropical storm karen. so we're definitely going to keep our eyes peeled on this because this could be affecting our weather towards the end of the weekend into the beginning of next week. all the models pretty much in agreement of that. this will be bringing us much- needed rain as well as this front that's going to be pushing through the weekend as well. so in the meantime, dry weather in the forecast. and that temperature today coming in right around 80 degrees for a lunchtime temperature. let's get a check of the traffic now with mike. hot today. what'd you do? all right, it was me, oh okay.

church in statesville, north carolina hopes to get more details about a crash that killed eight of its parishioners. dozens more were injured when the bus blew a tire in northeast tennessee on the interstate highway. the bus crossed into on coming traffic clipping an suv and slamming into a tractor-trailer that then burst into flames. the video is incredible. you can really get a scope if you look at the screen just how large this is. the bus was taking a group of seniors to a fall jubilee celebration just down the road in tennessee. in florida today people hope to start drying out in miami. healthy rain made it tough to see on i-95. driversers were stranded in the parking lot and then they say that's when high tide came along. there was no stopping the water from flooding low lying parts of the town. lynette, we always see this, people driving when it's flooded. fortunately though, or maybe not because you've been saying we need the rain but noun is going to -- none is going to happen today right? >> that temperature coming in
