funeral rangments have been set for angel tuango. he was killed in a police involved crash at york road in northern parkway last week. she recently came to baltimore from the republic of congo to be closer with her children. it will be on saturday at 11:00 in the morning. several organizations have stepped up to help with the cost. the family tells us that a fund has been set up at wells fargo bank. again her funeral is happening saturday at 11:00 in the morning. we'll be right back.

and this is well above average. the dry weather will prevail but also it's going to be very warm to hot conditions working our way through today, tomorrow and even through the weekend. but for tonight this is what you can expect. that temperature coming in right around 62 degrees. we will have a few clouds out there. but we will stay mild. and this is what the forecast holds as we go towards tomorrow. so you can see that we will begin to warm things up as we do have high pressure in control. that will start the slide off towards the east and we'll get that southerly flow that return flow. so we'll be 86 by tomorrow under a mostly sunny skies. then towards the next few days you can see 85 today. 86 friday. and 87 degrees as we head towards saturday. let's get a check of the traffic now with mike. hey. 84? >> it's closed. >> it's going to be 87 this weekend. >> i know. >> all right. i know. all right let's do traffic and take a look guys. go because speeds are looking really good. we'll take you on the west side of town. this is the west side of the

beltway from 795 right down rather towards 95. we'll take you right along the jfx. look at that both lanes looking good. into the city it gets slowish to 395. but we are looking good around there maybe some slow traffic. otherwise 695 at harford road both the outer and inner loop. that was cool what was that? looking pretty good. here's 695 at the baltimore national pike. also looking pretty good this morning. drive times you're going to head up 95 between route 100 and 695 on the northbound lanes, that's a six minute commute. and 695 between i-95 and 83 on the outer loop, that's an 11 minute drive. we'll talk more about your traffic and weather coming up in less than ten minutes. but now we'll take you to break. all the chicken in your grocery store

well, at perdue, we say you are what you eat...eats. so we feed our chickens an all-veggie diet, including corn and marigolds with no added animal by-products... hormones...or steroids. because at perdue, we believe in a better chicken. all right, there's a ton of extra seats on the d.c. metro thanks to the government shutdown. the metro officials say ridership has dropped 22% this week compared to the same period last week. for the time being, metro is running a regular schedule but with only six car trains. the smaller trains represent about a 10% reduction in overall capacity during rush hour. the change will continue until the shutdown wraps up. and for more than 800,000 federal workers who are forced

to stay home, doug wants to be sure they get paid. the federal employee pay fairness act that's more than a mouthful will ensure the workers will be paid once the shut down ends. the furlough which is now entering day three affects about 140,000 workers in maryland and social security to fort mchenry. furloughed employees did eventually receive back pay. the most recent was back in the mid 1990s. some of the workers left without a paycheck. they have turned to the unemployment office for some help. claims in maryland have spiked since the shutdown began. the state says it received 4,000 unemployment claim forms from federal workers on tuesday alone. that's more than the state usually receives all year from federal workers. and as the shutdown rolls on several businesses are doing whatever they can to ease the pain for those who are out of work. the salon in bel air is offering a complementary shampoo and blow dry to furloughed federal workers. the salon's manager says not

every furloughed worker is unhappy with arrangements. >> some people are like oh you know taking the day off and i'm going shopping and i'm getting my hair done. you know yeah i don't have to come in on the weekend. other people there's tears and they don't know where the next paycheck is coming from. it's all kind you know we see people it doesn't really affect that were you know happy to have some days off and some people who are really upset. >> the salon is offering the freebie through the end of the week. happening today, owners of small businesses in anne arundel county are being urged to take advantage of tax credits coming with the affordable health care act. today state comptroller peter franchot will join leaders for all at a press conference targeting more than 5,000 small businesses. those businesses will receive a letter signed by the comptroller telling them how the new tax credit will help offset their group health insurance costs. to be eligible the businesses must have more than -- have fewer than 25 full-time employees. the conference gets underway

this morning at 10:30 in annapolis. and if you're a veteran or a military spouse looking for work go to m&t bank stadium today. reps from a number of local and national companies like lockheed martin, state farm and johns hopkins will be taking part in a special hiring event. it starts at 11:00 this morning and wraps up around 3:00 this afternoon. the event is all part of a hiring for heroes initiative in our state. 5:46 right now. domino's sugar will light up tonight in support of the american diabetes association. from 6:00 this evening until 10:00 p.m. tonight, and tomorrow night, the building will be lit up with the ada's step out logo. walk to stop diabetes. this walk is going to take place on saturday, october 5th this weekend. the ada will also host a photoshoot for kids and adults living with diabetes. that's happening from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight. more than 370,000 people in maryland have diabetes. baltimore county will announce a big effort to make sure you get your flu shot.

today they're expected to announce a number of super saturday clinics through the county this weekend. they include pikesville high. halliburton middle and randallstown community center. they will be available first come, first serve basis. thousands of people are hearing jake sob's message. he is home after riding more than 10,000-miles to every major league baseball stadium. he was knocked from his bike by a tractor-trailer and he is healing and he's impressing people who welcomed him home in annapolis. deaf by the age of 10, jacob raised more than $150,000 to get others who need cochlear implants. >> the biggest thing for kids to know is that nothing can hold them back. they have a disability but they have to work harder to understand what everyone is saying. if they can do they can do anything they want. >> the grant matches about 15 people will be given implants. we have more information though on how you can help jake sob continue to raise money. you can find it at the website.

westminster. good morning fallston you're at 64 and at 63 in arnold. 62 in centreville and cambridge coming in right around 64 degrees. now the satellite, the tropical satellite, well it does show a disturbance right now. it is in the caribbean and it's moving past the yucatan peninsula right across the tip. it's entering the gulf of mexico. now this could become karen as we go through the rest of today. so tropical storm and with this storm, well, this could move into our direction. of course it would have weakened by then but the moisture, the remnants of karen will bring us some much-needed rain along with a cold front as we head towards the end of the weekend and into the beginning of next week. abc2's most accurate future trend goes into motion not picking up on anything for today and not anything for tomorrow. but temperature-wise, well, it's going to be nice and pleasant out there. you're going to like what you have. coming in right around 80 degrees by lunchtime. and send us in a nice photo. we want to you tweet us @abc2weather. seven day forecast, well there's the rain as we head

through the course of the morning lots of green on the screen and our travel times look ideal. another check on weather and traffic together in a little bit. charles to you. baltimore's mayor and other leaders make the highest salary in the city? that's not what joce sterman found out. take a look. >> reporter: some of the people getting the most money from the city are just average everyday police officers. and they're making a huge chunk of cash from overtime. tonight at 11:00, abc2 news investigators dig into why some on the police force take home tens of thousands of dollars in overtime pushing their salaries well above some of the biggest names in the city. but that's not all we found. after looking at police salaries we also discovered the number of police say they spend on overtime every year is actually millions higher. tonight at 11:00 we'll explain why and ask city leaders whether all this overtime puts people at risk. joce sterman, abc2 news. well, the wait is almost over. "good morning maryland." i'm charlie crowson. >> and i'm megan pringle. thank you for joining us. let's get right to the weather here's meteorologist lynette charles to let you know how it's looking right now. >> we're on the mild side this morning. look at temperatures coming in at 65 degrees right now in parkville. and that dew point at 60. so we are slightly more humid than what we were yesterday. that's going to continue through the day. there are a few areas of patchy fog out there this morning. especially to the north and also off towards the west. traveling along i-83 be prepared to run into that. glenwood's temperature right now coming in at 58 decks and we are dry. that's going to be the big story once again. and these temperatures that will be warming up as we go into the afternoon. no need for the rain gear today. you can just keep it away it's still collecting dust. do have the sun shades though because we can see plenty of

will update the story as soon as we get more information. the president will be in maryland later this morning while congressional republicans and democrats continue with the blame game on capitol hill. regarding the government shutdown. the president brought those congressional leaders the top four from the house and senate to the white house wednesday trying to get both sides closer to an agreement to getting nonessential workers bark on the job. that didn't produce any resolution with house speaker john boehner saying the president would not budge on the demand that congress pass a budget bill that does not include obamacare. maryland congressman hoyer echoed the president's sentiment saying the time for games is over and congressional republicans need to get serious. >> the republicans' piecemeal apreach is a waste of -- approach is a waste of time. it wasted critical time yesterday. [ applause ] and they are wasting more time today. it's a gimmick. it's a ploy.
