overnight police descended on her stanford connecticut home looking for clues. her family members tell abc news she was suffering from postpartum depression serious enough to requirehospitalization. police visited her childhood home in brooklyn. >> smile on her face and didn't seem like there was a problem. >> reporter: the driver of a black sedan rams into a barrier outside the white house. police swarm the scene but the driver pled away. first shots are fired. pulled away first shots are fired. >> the car tore out of the area. >> reporter: a chase up pennsylvania avenue. the driver stops at the base of the u.s. capitol. everyone inside the capitol complex was told to shelter in place. congressmen walking outside were informed to hide their identities. >> they said take the pen off. we wear these pens around and so he told me to take the pen off because you could be a target. >> reporter: the driver tries to flee and police fire into the vehicle killing the woman.
