the damage caused by all of the water rushing out over into the roadway. reporting live in putty hill, roosevelt leftwich, abc 2 news. a woman who claims a man forced her to become a prostitute is safe. craig and irson was arrested. and the woman was taken to two different states and forcing her to have sex for a money and posted ads on a web site to find customers. police also arrested two other suspects for human trafficking. friends and family are hopeful that the state trooper jacqueline kline will make a full recovery. this morning she remains in critical condition. trooper kline was hit by a car when she stopped to help another officer on the side of the road. it happened on route 100, recallly sunday morning. kline's friends have been visiting her in the hospital nonstop. even bringing her bagels from her favorite bakery in new jersey. i know she hears me. she might not remember this,

but she responds when she hears your voice and gripping your hand. >> the driver who hit kline stopped and stayed on the scene. it is back to court today for former patriots player aaron hernandez. his lawyers are expected to ask the judge for a gag order in the case. a trial date could also be set. hernandez is charged with the murder of oden lloyd. his body was found less than a mile from the home where hernandez lives. that was back in june. lloyd's family says the two were friends. and were out at a nightclub a few days before lloyd's death. 4:36. the partial government shutdown has for a week now disrupted various government agencies and programs. and now the battle on capitol hill shifts to military families death benefits denied due to the standoff. among those impacted, fam list of four soldiers killed in afghanistan last weekend. they won't receive money for the death benefits for the funeral because of the government shutdown. the bodies of four patriots will arrive at dover air force base today and the families want to meet the plane and they

have to pay their own way to delaware. senate majority leader harry reed addressed the matter with the senate colleagues tuesday saying the actions against the grieving families is unacceptable. >> america could be a part of the families. appalling. frightening. shouldn't we be embarrassed about this? shouldn't we be ashamed. >> that was followed up by john mccain of arizona. and the pentagon already has the authority to pay the benefits but promised quick legislation to make sure the money is available. and families have quietly stepped forward to offer financial help to families in the time of grief. local leaders will be in baltimore today to urge city residents to take advantage of the health insurance exchange. state officials say they are taking some heat because of of the problems plaguing the health connection web site.

of the 175,000 people who went to the site last week, only 400 could sign up for insurance. we're told the glitches are being worked out right now and repairs and upgrades to that web site are continuing. now, a big moment in history today, the first woman to head the central bank is officially being nominated for the position. president barack obama has tapped janet yell ton serve as the next chair of the federal reserve. the announcement will be made this afternoon at 3:00, it is the first time a woman has held the position in the bank's 100- year history. yellen is currently serving as a fed vice chair. we could learn in the next few days whether the united states will cut off aid to egypt in the wake of the july coup against mohamed morsi. military aid was withheld in august. and it comes from quote an accumulation of events including recent violence against protesters. the officials say that the u.s. has not notified yet egyptians about the decision to cut off the military aid. one year ago today, the

taliban tried to kill a 14-year- old pakistani kill who became vocal about girls in the middle east receiving an education. malala was shot in the head while the school bus, while we was on the school bus. show was fully recovered and continues to spread her education rights for girls. her book hit store shelves yesterday. plenty of clouds around. we could see all of the moisture to the south of us. as of now. this will begin to work its way in our direction as we go through the rest of the day. especially as we head toward the afternoon, evening. that's really when it will get in here. temperatures this morning coming in at 45 degrees in cockeysville. and 55 in perry hall. and 54 in ellicott city. upper 40s in woodbine as of now. you saw all of the moisture that we're working with down to the south. that will creep into our area courtesy of a coastal area. check out the dew point this morning. the air is still dry. so we have to moisten up the

atmosphere before it moves in our direction. and the winds out of the northeast throughout the day and gusts up to 30 miles an hour. and your planner, well, by lunchtime, coming in at 62. over to you. well, today, instead of loading the kids in the car or the bus to get to school, why don't you walk with them? international walk to school day. and parents are encouraged to walk with their kids if the school is close enough. and now a number of schools in the area are playing group ball including rogers ford elementary and centennial elementary school. more than 23 miles of new bike trails are in the works for baltimore county. new or expanded routes are planned for places like dundalk and towson and catonsville. $225,000 has been given to the county for the program. and paying it forward, coffee giant starbucks wants you to do it and they say they have a big incentive. we will tell you what it is and what message they are hoping the government can learn from it. good morning, i'm mike

memorial service at 5:00 for family, and setting up a facebook page to generates leads to solve the murder. more twists in the road rage incident with an suv and a group of motorcyclists. we've seen the video a number of times. an off-duty new york city police defendant is behind bars charged with riot and criminal mischief and caught bashing in the rear window of the suv. the group swarmed the car and the biker's wife says he is paralyzed. >> and i can't blame anyone. i can understand why he was there but at the end of the day, my husband parked his vehicle on the kick stand to get off to try to help the situation. >> the video shows the bikers pulling the driver out of the car and beating him. four others have since been arrested and police say more arrests are likely to come.

all right. let's talk about the temperatures this morning. because yes, we are pretty seasonable for the most part. maybe a little bit above that. so we will call it cool. it is 53 degrees right now in win oak. and mount aries at 52. and manchester at 52 degrees as well. hickory at 51. centerville at 55. and 54 degrees right now in eastton. this is what is going on in the satellite and radar this morning, we do have the clouds out there, but also, the rain to the south of us, as of now. but all of this is working its way up the coast and with that, we are going to get some steady rain in here, especially as we head toward the evening time frame. so we are basically tracking a nor'easter if you will. and the reason why is we are going to be having the winds out of the northeast as we go throughout the day. also we are going to get very windy, talking about wind gusts up to 25, 30 miles an hour. so we do have that high pressure off to the north, now, in new england, and with that, well, we are going to start to see changes in the forecast. as we go through the rest of today. things will start to deteriorate. and abc 2's most accurate

future trend, i will put this in motion and that's where the system is from the south. it starts to move in here as we head more into the afternoon evening time frame. so your commute home could be on the wet side. but the heaviest rain really starts to get in here as we go toward the overnight time frame, waking up tomorrow morning, 5:00, heading off to work, that is when we start to dealing with that real wet weather. more steady rain across the area. and it will take a while for the rain to get in here today because we do have that dry air in place and we really have to moisten up the atmosphere so things start to fall from the sky and that's exactly what will happen. you see me smiling because we do need some more rain in here. that is definitely a good thing. in terms of the temperature, the lunchtime temperature around 62 degrees for today and make sure you tweet us at abc 2 weather, a photo, and as we look at the next few day, we will be at 62, 64. but also, the rain will stick around. a check of the traffic with mike. good morning, lynette. hi, everyone. bay bridge, let's take a look.

you would think after swimming for more than 50 hours from cuba to the florida keys, diana nyad would have had a break from the water. not so. look at this. you're looking at a live picture of nyad swimming at a pool in manhattan. you can see her right there on the screen. she is doing this for 48 hours. it is all to raise money for superstorm sandy victims. nyad started around 9:00 yesterday morning, and as of 3:00 this morning, more than $54,000 has been raised. it will be interesting to see how much money after this feat

construction jobs that were created, with 1,000 permanent jobs. it happens to the best of us. wether that is. lynette? >> charley, yes. this is what we're dealing with. we are going to have the temperature around 66 degrees. plenty of clouds will be on tap for today and stay cool. once again, i do believe the rain will hold off more until this evening time frame. so as we head toward tonight, that temperature is coming in right around 48. it will be breezy. and those showers will be out there. by that time as well. and this is what we can expect as we head toward tomorrow. more rain in the forecast, that temperature right around 62 degrees. and with that, we will be cooler, and this is what it looks like for the forecast. we will have that coastal low, that equals more rain, as we go through the next several days, so we are talking about right through friday and possibly saturday morning, by the time we hit sunday, we are going to be playing, the ravens are, and with that, we will dry out and temperatures will be in the low 70s. let's get a check of the traffic with mike.

around so you can make sure that price continues fitting in your budget. now, downtown baltimore will be packed with runners this weekend according to the baltimore business journal, most of the races are already sold out. more than 27,000 runners will be taking part in the 5k and half marathon and full marathon. and organizers say they didn't want to expand the number of participants this year to work out some issues. they discovered them during last year's event. we have all seen it, some people go all out for halloween turning their homes into haunted houses but a court other could end a silver spring woman's annual halloween display. for the past three years, donna kerr has welcomed more than 4,000 people into her backyard haunted house all for free. but now she received a cease and desist order in the mail from montgomery county saying several neighbors have been complaining about the display saying that it creates a traffic hazard. >> it is making me sick to my stomach, to have people hating on you when you're trying to do a thing for the community.

central maryland. we are nice and dry. but that is not the case to the south of us. we do have lots of moisture. just around norfolk right now and trying to work its way into richmond and you can see the movement of this, the track of the storm will move off to the north and get into the wet weather as we head more toward the evening time frame and see this lingering into tomorrow. and also the day after that. possibly even the first part of your saturday. and so this is going to stick around for a while. as we look at what is going on for today, coastal advisories in effect for the areas here in the blue color. so with this, this does go into effect this afternoon. this evening time frame. around 4:00. and that is because that is when the rain is really going to come in here. the wind will be kicking up as we go throughout the day as well. let's look at what is going on in terms of temperatures right now. right now in davidsonville, 56 degrees and these temperatures slightly above average, we will go with cool right now and we are going to see these dew points coming in at 49, so it is still kind of dry out there, and that's what is going to take long for the rain to come

in here for today, and 56 degrees is the temperature right now in saint vincent, and the winds will pick up right now out of the northeast at 6 miles an hour. but gusts up to 25 miles an hour. possibly even 30. and es elf temperature right now at 54. for the rest of the day, if you want to do the jog, do it this morning or lunchtime. we should still stay dry by that time. let's get a check of the traffic with mike. 695 at green spring. looking good. thus far this morning. take another shot. this is a look at 895, 695 split, so we're looking good thus far on the roadways. and 695 the outer loop, security boulevard, the right lane is knocked out but that will wrap up a little after 5:00 this morning. hopefully wrap up in 5 or 10 minutes or so. u.s. 50 at 95, construction related delays there this morning. timonium, timonium road, and up toward the north in cockeysville, and the hunt valley area, dealing with another construction-related

delay. travel times look good. 695 down to the outer loop between 795 to 95, it should take you about 11 minutes. if you are traveling 695, the outer loop from 95 to 83, that is an 11 minute drive. if you're just waking up with us this morning, following breaking news. a gas pipeline explosion in oklahoma. take a look at this video. this is what we know right now. crews say that the fire is contained. and their going to let it burn itself out. this happened in the town of roxton. people living within two miles of blast are ordered to evacuate. out of bangladesh, a deadly fire, where 10 people have been killed in a garment factory in the outskirtses of the capital. officials say the fire broke out in a knit wear factory and spread two three other buildings in the compound. it is now under control reportedly and the cause remains under investigation. well, we have breaking news happening, and we want to tell

you about it, the easiest way to find out, follow us on twitter at abc 2, underscore alert. and it started yesterday, but it is still a problem this morning, we're talking about a big water main break in parkville. baltimore county shut down the water main after a few hours but the streets are shut down right now and people who live and work and travel around that area are definitely going to be affected. roosevelt leftwich is live with what we need to know. how does it look out there? >> reporter: the water has been stopped. but if you take a look behind me here, you can still see the crews are on the scene. and that this chunk of this road is closed and it is not exactly what you would call clear. the water is coming out of the pipe, the 24-inch main burst in spectacular fashion with water shooting into the sky on putty hill avenue. and baltimore city water was out here quickly. and worked for most of the day rerouting the water and repairing the damaged line. but what remains is well, some brown water coming out of the faucet. and for many people, they just say that is just
