man on the moon. >> it should have been a day celebrations in nigeria. but the events were marred by two car bombs near the main square near the capital. at least eight people were killed. the biggest nigerian rebel group issued a bomb warning today. >> threats of bomb attacks and then explosions. three of them sounded through the capital as nigeria celebrated its 50th anniversary of independence. earlier in the day, a militant group known as the movement for

the emancipation of the niger delta told people to keep away from the celebration. there have been confrontations with the government and oil companies, demanding a greater share in the region's oil wells. but today, it was an act of terror. >> we have been to some of the hospitals. there are many to dallas. there are a number of injuries. people are waiting to find out exactly what happened. despite the rambling chaos, celebrations went on with president good luck johnson. it had started out as a day of jubilation and a show of how nigeria has,. but suddenly, a swift and brutal reminder of the harsh reality

for infecting hundreds of people in guatemala with gonorrhea and syphilis during medical tests almost 60 years ago. an academic study found that many of these subjects or psychiatric patients and prisoners who did not give their consent. the international labor organization says global employment is not likely to recover from a financial crisis until 2015, two years later than previously forecast. the ilo blamed a swift -- the german car manufacturer bmw is recalling more than three and 50,000 vehicles, including top of the range rolls-royce models amid concerns of a braking problem. the defect is not dangerous, but the news comes as an embarrassment for the company which is currently showing off its latest products at the paris motor show. >> rolls royce is a bmw's fleisher brand.

the ledger's machines -- flagship brand. it is more than a little embarrassing that rolls-royce models have been included in a mechanical recall, along with three of bmw's mainstream models. bmw says the problem is related to hydraulic leaks in a power- assisted trading system. however, the company says that the fault is not dangerous because the car will still be able to slow down and stop. there have been no reported accidents or injuries. recalls arnott uncommon in the motor industry and this one -- recalls are not uncommon in the motor industry and this one is small by comparison. however, the timing of this announcement and the fact that it concerns of the royal street royce is inconvenient. there could be some red faces among the bmw executives touting

your habit -- hear, and japan, it just got more expensive, the government has increased the tax on tobacco by a record-breaking 40%. the pact that used to cost $300 yen now cost $410 and yen. that is only $4.88, cheap by international standards. but it is still a shock to japanese smokers. they want people to quit. at the moment, more than one in three japanese men smoke while the number is lower for women, only around 10%. overall, japan is the fourth biggest market for tobacco in the world. how have people responded to the tax rises? they have been busy courting cigarettes to try to beat the increase that the tax man is demanding. japan tobacco has increased

theater land in london is called west end. they have a global hit that has now been seen by 57 million people around the world. it celebrates its 20th anniversary. it has also been a money-spinner for the world shakespeare company. ♪ ♪ >> this a grammy award winning is one of the most successful musicals ever produced. the production has humble origins. it started here in a small theater on a quiet street as a co-production with the royal shakespeare company.
