old and honored. 20 children were taken hostage initially monday morning. five have been released. the teacher is thought to be held as well. so reports of an armed man taking around 20 children hostage in a nursery in france. the man is believed to be 17 years old and is armed. five children are reported to have been released. we will have more in a few moments. who was the man who bombed the swedish capital of stockholm? that is the question that police in europe have been trying to answer. no explosives have been found. islamist have claimed that they were linked to it. here is more.

20 minutes. >> thanks. and the apparent hostage taking of nursery children in france. our correspondent is in that area. what do we know at this stage? >> most of the children if not all have been released from the school. we were told a hostage takeover occurred earlier this morning. the suspect is 17 years old. he was caring two knives and possibly some swords. they wear able to get children out of the building. others are released as well. no news on the teachers.

there was a special intervention force regarding this hostage negotiation. it seems to have come to a quick conclusion, which is good news. >> very optimistic with 15 children released. only five left. the person is believed to be 17 years old. >> that is what we heard as well. he seems to be someone who might be disturbed. they are talking about an they were trying to strike up a telephone conversation with him.

where he is thought to have lived. we know that a search warrant was executed here late last night. no arrests were made here. no hazardous substances were found. neighbors are waking up to the surprising news that the man who lives here is suspected of being involved in a suicide attack. many -- describe him as a good neighbor. they had little idea of what may have been going on behind closed doors. and the islamic center has said that to the man who lived there was in 2007 was confronted at the mosque about extremist views. they say the views distorted islam.
