well, bail has been denied for the man charged with attempting to rob and car jack cal ripkin's mother. police saythat the man pointed a gun at her in a bank parking lot. theysay he demanded money and her car. ripkin pressed a button on her key ring setting off her alarm and sending the would be robber running from the scene. today, his sister told us that she doesn't believe he recognized his attempted victim. >> i don't think he did that on purpose. like, thinking that's his mom. he probably wasn't on the right track of mind and just went full force for something. . >> now at this point, investigators do not belief the robbery attempt -- believe the robbery attempt is connected with ripkin's kidnapping last year.

home. >> reporter: the incoming principal says despite the protest, he wants to engage his neighbors to discuss problems. >> i want to continue to reach out and forge partnerships with people because there's going to be opportunities where we can benefit each other. >> but burke says a land exchange violated state law and he's suing to try and stop the project. >> it was supposed to remain open space, but it is no longer open space because it will be an elementary school. we all know the public cannot go on public school property when school is in session. >> reporter: there's going to be a hearing on that land swap lawsuit tomorrow morning. burkeis hoping the judge will grant an injunction to stop the construction on that new school.

. in our consumer alert, let's say your car got recalled. a simple repair will usually fix the problem except when it doesn't. john matarese explains why toyota owners will have to go back to the dealer. >> hundreds of thousands of toyota owners will receive an unusual letter in the mail telling them their car is being recalled for a second time because the first recall didn't work. one woman believes she almost had an accident because of a bad recall repair. >> my husband said did you hear that or did you feel that.

the recall after the initial repair. if you have a 2006 to 2011 rav or lexus, you may want to check with your dealer. if you own an rav 4, realize that toyota is stepping up to the plate and admitting error and offering a second repair free. get that repair so you don't waste your money. . if you need a reason to think pink this month, listen closely to bridget's story. just before her college graduation, she found out she had breast cancer. bridgetlived for maybe a wedding down the road, her next birthday and the hope of children. hermother says she packed more in 7 years than some people do

in a lifetime. >> some say love, it is a river. >> she was so young when she was diagnosed that it was really her whole adult life that she had this disease. >> reporter: it's been six months, since breast cancer took her daughter bridget. at 21 shewas diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that had already spread to her liver. >> when you're dealing with someone that's 21, 22, 23, you just can't even imagine a disease that is going to take her life before she's 30. >> reporter: but what a life where i had jet -- bridget lived. she married her high school sweetheart and traveled the world and in between, chemotherapy, 14 different drug trials. bridget was aen advocate for

breast cancer awareness. >> she was out there telling young women that this does happen to younger and younger women. >> i'm beating cancer. i ambeating cancer every single day just by getting up and getting out of bed. >> i never had a fighting chance because my diagnosis was so late and i want to make sure that doesn't happen to anyone else. >> reporter: she knew her time was short, but her mother says she was not a quitter. duringher 7 and a half year battle with cancer, her only daughter only had two pity parties. >> she gave people hope and a pathway to live without dwelling on the cancer. it doesn't have to define you. >> reporter: this month, we're all surrounded by pink. sunday,thousands will join komen maryland in the race for the cure. >> every dollar that komen

today, we watched -- suburbs. today, we watched a lot of clouds move in. i thinkwe'll be in the clouds again all day tomorrow. again the rain threat holds off until the second half of the day. youhave a dry morning commute with maybe patchy fog, but the evening commute could feature some rain. by the way, you can down load the abc2 news app and click the weather tab on the bottom and you'll have that informs everywhere you go. current temps only around 60 to 65 degrees. i don't see us dropping much tonight. humidityvery high tonight holding temps up and raising

the possibility of fog in the morning. i thinkthere will be patchy fog to deal with in the morning. here we go, 4:30 tomorrow, blob of rain crossing west baltimore. someof these showers will certainly come in west of the delaware line. rain could be a hit and miss possibility through 10:00. it looks like the heaviest rain trends north of us but we'll get showers in here. then we clear out nicely. look at friday, we finally get sunshine behind our cool front. kind of a slow mover, but optimistic by no later than 10:00 friday morning, we'll feel l a difference and see the sunshine come back. still running warm up and down the coast, but that cool air is flooding in. that's going to be a noticeable

difference as that cool air marches in for the weekend. overnight, down to 630 or so with -- 60 or so with patchy fog. by tomorrow night, rain showers clearing out. andthe next few days, showing improvement as the last rain showers will clear by early friday morning and we're left with sunshine into the weekend. maybe a stray shower early sunday but right now the komen race for the cure looks nice.
