>> and some take prescription drugs. but if you check out the web, you get conflicting information. amy has more with what an expectant mom should do. >> reporter: ms. holme3s fights allergies. she needsmedications to help her through her tough days, but she's pregnant. she went to the internet for answers. >> the confusing information leaves scare me -- me scared. >> reporter: she's smart to be scared. a new study found women are being misled by information on multiple websites we found 25 active websites that posts such lists of safe medications to take during pregnancy. few of those medications actually had data to back up their claim for safety. >> reporter: one site said a

popular antihistamine was safe to take during pregnancy while another website claimed more research was needed. the studyreviewed 245 products with 103 components that were listed as safe on various sites. in 42%of the cases, researchers were unable to determine the risk to the unborn child. >> it's not necessarily that the medicines on these lists are dangerous. it's just that we don't know if they're safe or not. >> while we wish we knew exactly the effect of different medications on pregnant women, we really aren't able to do studies where we give half the women a certain medication and half the women another medication to assess safety. >> reporter: the march of dimes says the confusion is compounded by saying that certain drugs are only safe during certain times of the pregnancy. >> early in the pregnancy, you

want to stay away from medications that might interfere with development. but later in pregnancy, as you get loser to -- closer to labor and delivery, you you want to avoid medications that may cause blood clotting. >> reporter: the fda says medications taken during pregnancy result in 10% or more of birth defects. . >> women are using these online lists to by-pass talking to a health care provider and it's really important that they always consult with a health care provider to talk about what's important for them. >> reporter: she says even though the medicine turned out to be safe, she intended to be extra careful about what she puts in her body. >> everything that goes into me also effects the baby. >> now another factor in america, 50% of pregnancies are unplanned. women may not know they're

maybe an inch and a half in spots before the midday sun melts it. it gives you an idea of the much colder air marching in. here we are in october talking about accumulate accumulating snow. the dewpoint is very low, so dry air, skies clearing, we're going to get cold through the night. howdoes that compare to normal? normal lows this time of year, 43 so we're tolder -- colder than average by about 8 to 10 degrees. today, only 58 at bwi. the nights will be when you notice it the most. the nextcouple of nights, we're talking mid to low 30s. really, earlyfriday morning, early saturday morning will be our coldest times. but places like westminster, even places in howard county, you're going to find a few

upper 20s on the board thursday night into friday morning. runners forecast, just crisp. again we do get to the #350s by -- 50s by midday. tonight, we're seeing west breeze around 5 to 15. therewill be gusts tomorrow up to around 20. skies are clearing. i think there will be some decent sunshine, but the cold northerly flow will continue for several more days as we have a big canadian high to our west but the cold air wrapping around that will make its presence felt. again, not just here in maryland, but reaching down into atlanta tomorrow morning. tonight, down to 35 here in the baltimore area. closer to a frost toward westminster. 54tomorrow, partly cloudy and tomorrow night, here we go. thenext several days featuring

despite our love of candy and fast food, number of americans who will live to be 100 years or older will increase dramatically. in 2010 there were 53,000 centenarians in the united states, and i have driven behind every single one, by the way. by the year 2050 it is believed there will be 600,000 older than 100 in america which is, that is going to be a very busy year for willard scott. by the way what happens when willard scott turns 100. does he wish himself a happy birthday or? or does it alter the space-time continuum forever? if you hit 110 years old, you become what is labeled as a super-centenari super-centenarian. although, should we be putting the word super in front of some one who has no powers at all. i guess it is good news. i guess, they have to have somebody to greet the customers at all the new wal-marts.
