about 11:00 last night. the vehicle also had temporary license plates and ended up halfway inside the vacant dunkin' donuts. the driver ran off. police have not been able to track him down. the hospital. their injuries are not considered life threatening. neighbors say it was a wild scene. >> this doesn't make sense. i mean just to ram into a dunkin' donuts like that. i'm not sure what's going on. that's pretty bad. it is going to be people sitting there right now. sean: you can see the tarp is up where the car was inside the building. there's still some glass around in front as well. so far police have not released a description of the driver nor said what charges they might face. live in manchester, wmur news 9. sean: thanks. a pelham man faces charges after he fired several shots inside the apartment.

saturday night, they say 67-year-old mark schlagel was sitting in the chair naked, holding for them. he claimed that four people tried to break into his apartment by cutting a hole through his closet. there's no evidence of any break in or anyone else was ever there. >> he was just shooting everywhere. lord knows the bullets could have went through my floor at my son, hit my husband, hit me. sean: police say they found four pistols, two rifles, a shotgun, 200 magazines, and 10,000 rounds of am knew -- ammunition. no one was hurt in the shooting. schlagel is due in court next month. south carolina has some areas that have picked up two feet of rain since friday. and roads are under water. the governor says it is years. more rain is coming with more flash flood warnings in place.

lana zak has a look at devastation. >> it seems like the south carolina is being ravaged this morning. >> this is an unprecedented event. reporter: grown men up to water up to their neck. >> everything that i own that i know of has been destroyed. all of my memories and worked for. it is all gone. >> as onlookers hope the floods will stay away from them. >> water is getting closer and closer. reporter: after government imposed curvies, residents are making up to scenes of destruction today. >> we haven't seen this level of rain in the low country in 1,000 years. that's how big this is. reporter: officials warning the flash floods are expected to continue and may come on suddenly. >> just because the rain stops does not mean the danger is over. reporter: this is one of many roads collapsing under the strain. even some rescue workers in need of rescue. >> we had a mother and

a rescue worker tried to get to them. we used an aerial rescue to get all of them. then we started picking some people off of the rooftops. reporter: several deathed caused by the rushing water. she got out just in time. >> i was scared we couldn't get the car out. i started on foot. i thought we were going to die. ! a mass irescue effort has saved hundreds of lives. more operations are expected as rains continue today. lana zak, abc news, washington. bermuda. search efforts continue for a cargo ship that disappeared when the storm passed through the bahamas. crews searching has found a debris field that appears to be debris and containers from the el faro. there's no sign of the 33 people who are on board. family members say four of those people are in maine. we have learned that one person is from massachusetts. the governor -- the government in the bahamas is trying to

assess the damage caused by joaquin. hundreds of homes have been damaged or destroyed. there's severe flooding. the damage is described as major devastation on a section called long island there. three people were hospitalized with mild hypothermia after their boat started taking on water in lowell, massachusetts yesterday. the high school girls were taking part in the textile river regatta when high winds blew water into the boats and made rowing nearly gobble. two different teams ended up in the water minutes apart, sending a total of 14 girls into the water. the race, which is the second largest in new england, was canceled midway through the day. walgreens is teams up with the hospital to make narcan more available. the hospital will release more details later today. the doctors at frisbee will be able to fill standing orders at the walgreens in town.

and the mud sean: search teams in guatemala are losing hope after a mud slide. 130 people are dead and 300 missing. mud is 35 feet in some areas. many of the buried homes they are finding are filled with water. schools are closed in malaysia today and tomorrow because of dangerous air pollution caused by smoke from burning forests. several airports had to close for a few hurts yesterday because the visibility, as you can see, was so poor. the smoke has started to spread to thailand. government officials are calling on indonesia to enforce stricter rules. a student at new

of harry potter items in the world. now he's sharing his obsession. he has nearly 4,000 items, including figurines, clothes, and toys. yesterday he opened a museum in mexico city to display everything. i know kevin has a ticket. he says his collection was getting so big it had started to lose meaning. he decided to open up a museum. kind of neat stuff. a farmer in michigan dug up more than soybeans. he thought he hit a fence post. turns out he found a partial skeleton of a woolly pam mouth. it likely lived between 10-13,000 years ago. it was probably killed by humans and the carcass stored in the pond. amazing discovery. can you imagine them walking around and you having to go encounter

the creatures? kevin: much bigger than a fence post. smarter too. sean: think we could make it a pet? kevin: i guess. not a leash big enough. dublin has 34 degrees there. there are a lot of 30's. lower 40's fromman chester to the shoreline. in the north country, places into the 20's. we're shaping up to see a blend of sunshine and clouds for today. we're looking at a warming trend. starting tomorrow, we should be up into the 60's statewide and likely there. 60's to lower 70's on wednesday. a good deal of fair sky for us as the next system starts to move in. you'll notice more rain for the carolinas. hurricane joaquin is moving north, northeast. the cooler air drains in behind that as we've been feeling over the course of the weekend. temperatures in the lower 40's. manchester out to the coast, including nashua. mid 30's and the upper valley continuing on down to 31 in concord.

36 along the big lake. water temperatures helping there. up in the north country, down to as cold as 27 this morning. in a lot of spots, colder than we started the day yesterday. we are looking at a little bit of a warming trend. you can see a search of warmth here up through areas of the ohio valley. that starts to ebb in our direction as the coldest of the air rotates through the afternoon. highs today between 58 and 64 from north to south. the northeast. temperatures tonight with the clear skies and the light winds won't fall quite as far. we're looking at temperatures from the mid 30's in parts of the north country to as warm as 45 or 46 at the coast. blend of sunshine and clouds today. partly to mostly sunny skies tomorrow as well. tomorrow will be four or five degrees warmer. 60's for most. we should be in the 60's you'll notice the future cast pointing at a weak front that will be wednesday afternoon. that will push some cooler air back in our direction out of canada.

looks like we drop back from the upper 50's to mid 60's on thursday. that will set the stage from the next system moving into the pacific northwest to give us the next chance of showers. wave action over the next several days. the closest pass will be later on tonight. a weakened hurricane will continue to move on and head up through the north atlantic. we're in the 30's to mid 40's this morning. we get back into the lower half of the 60's this afternoon. notice the extended forecast, warmest on wednesday with the sunshine out there. after a warm wednesday, we cool it off on thursday. we'll add clouds thursday night and some scattered shower activity on friday. shouldn't be an all day rain. the front cools us off by the time we get to the weekend. lows in the 30's in a lot of locations. highs setting up what could be another nice weekend neither side of 60. sean: we'll take it. it was beautiful. we needed some extra lawyers. it is fall. sean: the chance to dry out.

the top stories with ray brewer. ray: manchester police are looking for the driver who smashed their car into the vacant dunkin' donuts on main street. it all unfolded about 11:00. the ad dabbing was apparently coming up the street when for some reason the driver veered into the vacant building. there was a passenger in the car. that passenger was injured. we're told the injuries are non-life threatening. sean: a fell ham man is accused of firing several shots because he thought someone was breaking into his apartment. he was naked when they arrived. they found seven guns and more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition. three teens were treated for hypothermia after the boat sank in the regatta. the races were canceled due to the conditions. coming up on "daybreak" this morning, if you are looking for a good guard dog, how about one that weighs 20 pounds?

lot of the mall when he saw an suv stopped against a light pole with the driver passed out inside. when the officer approached, dimaggio regained consciousness and tried to drive off. he ended up crashing into a parked car before running over a tree and fire hydrant. a man facing charges in connection with a serious crash is due in gilsum. 21-year-old was driving drunk when he crashed this car on main street saturday night. the car was speeding when it wednesday off of the road and hit several trees and crashed be a home. the passenger suffered serious injuries and was flown to thwart mouth hitchcock medical center. he is scheduled to be arraigned on charges, including aggravated dwi. a man from romania is scheduled to make a court appearance after being arrested on a charge of aggravated felonious sexual assault. milos szekely assaulted an 18-year-old. the suspect and victim

were acquaintances. a concerning situation will be discussed at a public forum in wakefield tonight. students recently discovered syringes on the school grounds. since then, staff members have been sweeping the parking loath and checking the playgrounds. they sent a letter home to parent inviting them to discuss the problem. the forum starts at 6:30 tonight. authorities put their skills to the test during an active shooter training exercise in goffstown. the drill took place yesterday at goffstown high school. in the training session, two shooters were found and taken into custody. patients were treated. officers evacuated the school and searched people for weapons. >> as you all know, these kinds of situations give us the opportunity to look at what might have been done better, differently, what might be more effective in the future, and this is where you want to do those things. where the risk is low.

to cover my daughter. i sincerely 100% believe his blood saved my daughter's life. reporter: wmur news 9. sean: colleges in the philadelphia area are on high alert following a threat of violence. statements like temple say the threat was posted on social media. the fbi, atf, and explosive officials sent out a warning on sunday. authorities say the threat did not mention a specific school, but it did mention a specific time. schools are now encouraging students to report any suspicious activity. a typhoon that tore through parts of asia is blame for killing nine people. the storm stirred up several tornadoes as it made land fall in china. six people were killed when the twister touched down and 168 others were injured. the typhoon slammed into the philippines before making its way to china.

parts of france are being plagued by severe flooding. torrential rains transformed saturday night into a terrifying flood zone. 16 people were killed. the flood waters were so strong they swept away cars, trucks, and even mobile homes. more than 300 people gathered in vermont yesterday to rally against the aye retrade. it was part of a global march to raise awareness. earlier a bill was introduced to keep from selling any horns. elephants are killed every day for their tusks. they are worried that african elephants will be extinct in five to 15 years. and a measure requires pediatric hospital in bay know
