first at 5:00 we begin with breaking news. this rochester man found guilty in the 2014 stabbing death of a madbury teenager. mcelveen. jurors deliberated five hours before finding tristan wolusky guilty on all charges including first degree murder. let's get right to wmur's mike cronin who is live outside court in dover with the breaking details. reporter: the trial lasted several weeks and this afternoon jurors convicted him on all charges. 19-year-old tristan wolusky showed no emotion as he was led away in handcuffs. in june of 2014 prosecutors say the rochester man and two others went to rob 18-year-old aaron wilkinson at his madbury home. wilkinson was stabbed more than 20 times, and his body dumped along a road in maine. as part of a plea agreement, wolusky's two friends pleaded guilty to second degree murder, in exchange for testifying against wolusky.

his defense attorney argued wolusky's coconspirators killed wilkinson and said they lied during their testimony. he is shocked by the verdict. >> i have no idea what happened in the deliberation room, but they got to watch two people take the stand and lie their guts out, and what they saw was what everybody else saw in that courtroom. >> i think the attorney's comments are offensive. the jurors sat through the entirety of the case, they heard cross-examination from the defense for the state's witnesses. they also heard from the defendant himself. reporter: so wolusky will be sentenced in late november, early december, his two friends will be sentenced on november 10. coming up at 6:00 tonight we'll hear from the victim's father on how he's dealing with the verdict. live in dover, mike cronin, wmur news 9. josh: tonight police have identified the teen-age girl that was found dead inside of this rochester motel over the weekend. wmur's jennifer crompton is live

outside spaulding high school in row chest, and it appears police are investigating this as a drug overdose. reporter: well, they are, josh. they're saying it's definitely a suspicious death and they are looking into the possibility that it was a drug overdose. evangelique tarmey, or eve as she was sometimes known, was a student here at spaulding high school and the superintendent says staff and students were shocked and are trying to cope with the news. police confirm evangelique had been staying at the riverriera motel with her mother and mother's boyfriend, he's the one who called police saturday unresponsive. she was later pronounced dead at the scene. police aren't saying much, calling it an active investigation as they await toxicology test results to determine the exact cause. meantime it's been a lot for young people at spaulding high to digest. >> i met with the staff this

there was certainly a lot of sadness in the school. our counselors have been trained to handle these type of situations and they were on board there to share with staff how to help students and really to refer students to the guidance people to get that support. reporter: it's not confirmed that drugs played a role in this, but if they did, this would be the 7th drug overdose death in rochester through september. that's a record in this city. live in rochester, jennifer crompton, wmur news 9 a new effort to address the heroin epidemic. heather hamel is here and the idea is to install narcan kits at the high school and middle schools? reporter: yes, this was the brain child of the national president of the national board of education, he says while he has no reason to believe nashua

rather be safe than sorry. >> i would rather have infested a few hundred dollars and have the proper training and be able to save a child's life than to just hope that it doesn't happen. reporter: george farring on the says schools have defibrillators and epi pens, so why not narcan. as a preventative measure farrington has asked the superintendent to find out what it costs to have both the kits in the high and middle schools. >> i think we should look at it in both cases. >> we'll begin a process soon of bringing together some of the agencies that have experience with us, some of our own staff such as our school nurses to discuss it. reporter: superintendent conrad says the proposal is so new he doesn't have price estimates yet or any plans for training. >> i think in the schools it would be safe because they are juveniles and they'd be made to seek medical attention. reporter: janet thompson is a nurse practitioner at harvard

night at 7:00. josh: five years after it was first proposed, eversource has filed its application to pof forward with the controversial northern pass project. adam sexton is here to explain what happens next. reporter: five years ago last week we were in franklin for the unveiling of foreign pass and that night there were only small hints of the public opposition this project was going to face. after much debate the 1.09 line with enough energy to power one million homes is officially entering the public arena with a filing at the site evaluation committee. this filing initiates the regulatory review process and follows the august unveiling of eversource's forward nh plan, which increases the number of miles of buried northern pass line from 8 to 60. this does however increase the cost from 1.4 to $1.6 billion. environmental groups say they still want eversource to bury the entire link of the line.

>> as we get into the formal site evaluation process, there are many opportunities for public input. so we'll continue to make adjustments as appropriate. >> it's been disappointing that northern pass didn't take the opportunity to listen to the 80% of the comments at the recent hearings, that were in opposition to the current proposal, and they went ahead with what think had already proposed to do. reporter: construction on northern pass will start in 2017, but the far less controversial projects have fake end up three years or more to wind their way through the regulatory process. it's going to be a while. jean: a goffstown town is in critical condition after being hit by a car at his maine board, school. the 14-year-old was riding his bike by gould academy in bethel friday. the accused driver, 45-year-old richard marin, did not enter a plea in court today. deputies say marin left the

scene, he's being held on $10,000 bond. the long-time girlfriend of james "whitey" bulger has pleaded not guilty for refusing to say if the boston mobster had had had had had others helping him during his time on the run. catherine greig was indicted on a contempt charge that alleges from december 2014 through last month she disobeyed a judge's order to testify before a grand jury. the 64-year-old is serving an 8 year sentence for i'd fraud and others charges. josh: still no word from joe biden, although sources say he might announce his decision about the presidential race in the next 48 hours. biden himselfs that remained mum. if he does enter this race it could be an uphill battle. a new poll gives biden just 17% nationwide, as compared to hillary clinton's 48%. and time could be running out.

man they say shot and killed one person and injured five others at a zombi-con vengs. jean: it happened just after the zombi-con in fort myers ended on saturday. police released a video, four loud pops can be heard. no arrests have been made. josh: right now a search is under way for the sunken el faro cargo ship. a navy ship left virginia today. the crew is hoping to recover the ship's data recorder. the el faro is believed to are sung in the atlantic during hurricane joaquin. 33 crew members including sell from new england were all on board, all of them at this point are presumed dead. jean: the government is unveiling new steps to keep airliners and the public safe from drones. the new rules crack down on the use of unmanned aircraft, following a growing number of close calls. elizabeth hur reports. reporter: if you think you are seeing and hearing about drones

speaking of which, this morning, many spots from concord north and west in the upper teens and lower 20's. no records broken, just shy of the record at the coast. eight shy of the record in concord. but they're talking about very cold air this morning. changes are coming in, a front moving through southeastern canada, late this evening and overnight, with it a few scattered showers. it will be just cold enough in parts of northern new hampshire so we will likely -- outside of that it should be a scattered rain shower elsewhere, late evening in central parts of the state and in southern areas. overnight temperatures will coast back into the 20's and 30's far northern, 30's for many in the lakes region points south where right now it's in the 40's, all of these temperatures by the way running about a dozen

degrees below the average for this time of year. but overnight tonight, not nearly as cold as the last couple of nights. we won't bottom out near or slightly below freezing up north and by morning temperatures creep back up near 33. mid to upper 30's should do it in central and southern new hampshire by early in the morning. here's a lot of spring warmth building to our west and a little piece of this rolls in our direction over the next several days, so as you can clearly see, very chilly air is confined to far eastern parts of canada and northern parts of new england, that is retreating to the north and temperatures are going to start to climb back to averages as early as overnight tonight. so here come the rain showers again, will fall in the form of a light mix of rain, a little wet snow, touch of sleet great north woods through the heart of the white mountains and then during the day tomorrow quite a few clouds are out there, but not a whole lot of rain, could even be breaks of sun, best shot in northern parts of the state. as for rain showers, couple scattered about into early evening, and then a little sun early wednesday, then more clouds will roll in late day

and since about half of all u.s. women who might have children consume at least one drink in the past month, there's a fetus. so pediatricians, the ones who see the effects of alcohol on growing children are now putting their foot down. lately women have been more vocal in asking about having even just one glass of wine while pregnant. but in a new guide to doctors, the american academy of pediatrics takes a strong stand against women drinking any alcohol during pregnancy. it also spells out how doctors can recognize the physical behavioral and mental abnormalities that show up in fetal alcohol syndrome. because we can't test how much booze is too much, doctors will never be able to prove that an occasional glass of wine for pregnant women is harmless. but there's plenty of proof that fetal alcohol syndrome from heavy drinking can cause life long problems for the baby. not only do these new guidelines

something hunters are eager to take advantage of. >> a lot of folks who know the stocking schedules and are showing up at our stocking sites and really shooting at birds sort of immediately upon release. reporter: that activity led to a hunter getting shot last friday. >> an very was hit by some pellets right basically in front of our stocking crew. reporter: the hunter wasn't seriously hurt and was treat ted scene, but the executive director of fish and game says the practice of stalking the hand. >> i've had several comments by e-mail from folks saying that this year for some reason is the worst they've ever seen it. reporter: adding this is not a new problem. >> we have a report that was written about the pheasant program back in 1949 that delineates the same sorts of issues. reporter: however, before anyone gets seriously hurt, effective immediately no shooting will be allowed at stocking sites this

thursday and friday from 7:00 to noon. the director says that should give hunters and their game a chance to spread out and lessen the chance of someone getting hit. >> this is more of an issue of when the birds are first released they're concentrated in a spot, so everybody concentrates on the spot, and i think we need to allow for some disperse al. reporter: fish and game hopes to make the changes permanent, but that will take a series of meetings with commissioners over the winter and into the spring. ray brewer, wmur news 9. jean: new at 5:30, a permanent memorial has been create forward the victim of an unsolved murder in manchester. this weekend the family of denise robert planted a tree along with a monument next to brock side congregational church. robert was shot and killed just blocks from the church while she was walking in the north end over the summer. no arrests have been made. a reward is still being offered for information in the case. josh: the man who became an

advocate for bone marrow donations after his son died from a air immune disorder is now under around. michael guglielmo is accused of grabbing a youth in a restaurant in a sexual manner and is facing several charges. the state department of corrections is now thinking about letting inmates conduct suicide watches. right now only the guards do the in person checks. but ongoing staffing shortages are making that difficult. commissioner wren tells the concord monitor only certain inmates with clean disciplinary records will be considered. it similar to a program already used at the federal level. he hopes to receive a proposal for it by the end of the month. jean: the mother who triggered an amber aletter in massachusetts is now out on $250 bail. her attorney is calling the case totally overblown. police issued an alert saturday for two and a half-month-old child. officers say the boy's mother fled pennsylvania when medical personnel told her to take the

dehydration. the mother was arrested on a child endangerment warrant from pennsylvania and several massachusetts. her son is now in the custody of d. c. f. students at boston university are being told to lock their doors after a reported sex assault on campus. it happened early sunday morning in a dorm room. police say the victim did not know the attacker but to get into the building the man would have needed a student i.d. or someone to sign him in. campus police are checking surveillance video to try to identify the suspect. josh: it back to work for congress after a week-long break, and there is an important to do list to tackle. aixa diaz tells us what's on top of the agenda this week. reporter: congress comes back this week to a house speaker race, controversial benghazi hearing and debt seal showdown. who will become the next speaker of the house? that's one of the questions lawmakers are facing this week. the pressure is on paul ryan to
