now wmur "news 9 daybreak." erin: good friday morning. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm erin fehlau. looks like we have in for cooler air. hayley: temperatures will be 20 degrees colder than yesterday. i don't know if you got to enjoy the 70's like we did in southern new hampshire. it felt good, didn't it? it was a one-day thing. the temperatures really crashing overnight here. it won't go up. we won't have much of a rebound once we get to this afternoon. it is 46 degrees. we have temperatures in the 40's. laconia 45. 51 in manchester. you see the clouds moving through. that's the cold front. the clouds will linger through the morning. the temperatures take a big dip. keep that in mind. it will feel colder because of the breeze. more on the weekend's forecast ahead. first a look at the morning drive here in the granite state. we're joined live by deb davidson.

good morning, deb. deb: good morning, hayley. right now 93 is looking great through the state of new hampshire with no major delays or incidents causing any slowdowns this morning. if you are commuting on 293, everything looks good through the mill yard and through the lane shifts between exits five and three. that's due to some bridge maintenance that's going on through the area. the everett turnpike is moving well at the bedford tolls and down through the lane drops and also from merrimack into nashua. if you are out on the seacoast, 95 looks great. this report is being brought to you by autofair. from the wzid traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: we are following some breaking news for you this morning. another fatal campus shooting. one person was killed and two others were injured at tennessee state university in nashville. police say that the

a dispute over a dice game in an outdoor courtyard. at this time, we don't know if the victims were students. there's no word at this time on the status of the shooter. we've also just learned about a fatal motorcycle accident in newport overnight. police say a call came in shortly after midnight when a single motor vehicle with one person inside drove off of the john stark highway into the woods. fire officials say when crews arrived there was a fully involved vehicle fire in the woods just about 20 feet off of the road. the state fire marshal's office was the called to the scene. all lanes are back open at this time. now to franklin where police say a man made an extremely dangerous discovery while out walking his dog. federal officials quickly jumped into action and set up a perimeter on spring street. ray brewer is live in franklin with more on

this big response. ray: erin, the man was walking his dog wednesday afternoon in a wooded area off of spring street when he came across what is essentially meth in bottles. sealed off as firefighters and police moved into the area. police say these one pot can be just as explosive as meth labs. it prompted the response teams to seal off of the street. >> we were able to secure the scene. we were able to seize approximately 15 plastic bottles filled with the chemicals. ray: franklin police say they have suspects in the case. they expect to make an arrest soon. live in franklin, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: is it unusual to find individual portions of meth? ray: well, erin, it is a little unusual. they are seeing more of this. the reason why they are seeing more of it is

an actual meth lab. these are literally more mobile. people have been known to make these in their cars. erin: all right. ray brewer in franklin. thank you. moving on, people in boscawen are waking up with running water after being without it for more than a day. the issue is at fessenden terrace. it was because of unpaid water bills. one person still lives there. even though the water is independent of the town, yesterday the health officers ordered the water to be turned back on. >> i know there are still issues that need to be resolved. i hope the two parties are able to work things out and come up with a plan so that something like this isn't necessary in the future. erin: the property manager said shut off the water. the tenants who have been paying on time

a major spill in maine. 15 gallons of contaminated water was discharged from a river in rum ford. the water is used in the paper manufacturing process. the state says the impact will be min ma'am. officials say the water should have gone to a treatment plant. right now an investigation is underway to figure out why that didn't happen. new hampshire's war on heroin. a man was taken into custody at the econo lodge and charged with selling the drug. they executed a search warrant of the hotel. they arrested 26-year-old paulson papillon. additional charges include possession with intend to distribute heroin and cocaine. bell was set at $10,000. today is the day that granite state car enthusiast have been waiting for. the auto show begins at noon in bedford.

van otis needs a few holiday workers to make up to 6,000 boxes of the famous swiss fudge. i feel like everywhere i've been i've seen now hiring signs up. of hayley: that's a good thing. we need that. as we head into the holiday, the coldest temperatures arriving. today is going to feel a lot cooler. yesterday. today we're back to the october realty. look at temperatures. now they have been crashing up in the north country. berlin and whitefield now in the 30's after overnight temperatures were warmer in the 40's. then across the state that's happening really everywhere. 49 degrees in concord, 51 in manchester. i wouldn't be surprised if we drop a few degrees more with the daylight happening later in the morning. we still have time to cool off. the problem is once we get the sunshine, we aren't going to warm up much. look at these comparisons over the past 24 hours.

yesterday a lot of us cranking it up into the 60's and even some low 70's like in manchester. we've reached 71. look at temperature i'm expecting today. only 50 in manchester and nashua. that's a good 20 plus degree change in a 24-hour period. the main driver of that is some colder air coming down from canada. it is all courtesy of the wind. it is coming right out of the northwest. especially up north where it's been cranking 13 miles per hour and plymouth 10 miles per hour. as we go through the day, the strongest winds will be around lunchtime. could be some gusts up near 20 miles an hour. nothing crazy in terms of strong winds here. it is going to make it feel all the more cooler as the cold air drains down from quebec and ontario. over tonight, the winds will diminish. with the clear skies and those winds dying down, it is going to be colder tonight. cold front moves through

the scene, they found a 30-year-old man dead from multiple gunshot wounds. again this shooter still on the loose. police are checking surveillance cameras in the area in hopes of identifying a suspect. back here in new hampshire, a disturbing discovery in franklin. police say a man was out walking his dog in the woods when he tumbled across bottles of meth. ray brewer with the latest on the investigation. reporter: the discovery was made wednesday evening when the man was walking his dog along the wooded area in spring street. the dea had to be called in to dispose of the dangerous materials. >> individual walking the dog happened to notice something that looked strange. it was a plastic bottle that was smoking or had some ingredients in it he didn't recognize. ray: franklin police say the man discovered meth inside of bottles.

interstate 93 when he noticed a car having a mechanical problems. license and discovered she was wanted in pennsylvania. andrea erceg has a she's ken expected to be arraigned on a fugitive from justice before being extradited back to pennsylvania. littleton police arrested a suspected heroin dealer. 32-year-old kenneth humphrey was arrested following a lengthy investigation. he's due in court next week. hillsborough police made several arrests during a drug bust yesterday. they found cocaine and heroin during the search of a home.

charged and brandon coombs and mr. nettleton were also charged. they shared new ways to battle opioid abuse here in new hampshire. we heard about the treatment program in the jail. it is considered so successful that less than 20% of inmates who take part return. police describe how they are teaming up with federal agents to cut the supply from new hampshire to mexico. and medical experts say dropping stereotypes is important. >> there's no one face of addiction. really getting more people involved, the more the better. really opening our eyes and getting a better understanding of what addiction is and how people are pulled into addiction. erin: licensing restrictions are being eased in order to open up more treatment facility and offering tuition for people entering the counseling professor. you can head to our web

for speaker of the house last night. ryan will face elections next week in a closed door house gop meeting on wednesday. then on the house floor on thursday. the 45-year-old republican agreed to run under some conditions, including full support from his party and a schedule that does not interfere with his family time. now to a developing story out of france. police say at least 42 people were killed this morning in a crash between a bus and a truck. they say the bus caught fire after the collision. according to europe 1 radio, the bus was carrying mostly elderly people. an american service member was killed yesterday during a raid on an isis compound in iraq. the fallen troop was the first american to die in combat and iraq since the u.s. began the campaign. the service member was assisted in the mission to free hostages who were facing execution.

american troops stepped in after iraqi soldiers came under fire. the mission was highly successful. about 70 captives were freed. some business owners are trying to track down the thief that stole some prized possessions from their shop. it was caught on camera. the owner say was it is not the barber supplies. the man made off with 12 signed jerseys worth about $6,000. a new study by aaa finds that hands free driving does not necessarily eliminate distractions behind the wheel. the study says that hands free systems can distract drivers for up to 30 seconds while they make calls or dictate messages. voice-activated systems landed in the high distraction category. >> hands free isn't risk free. using your voice to try to interact with the
