and we do say good monday morning to you, everyone. we want to get straight to the video and many of these images that we're getting overnight from texas. showing the menacing soaking floods that -- this scenes from texas. they're hoping they'll finally get a chance to dry out today from the widespread flooding cars. and triggered dramatic water rescues. louisiana getting the worst of the rain this morning. fueled by the remnants of hurricane patricia. converging with another powerful storm. let's get the latest from bazi kanani. >> reporter: the lone star state drenched. up to 20 inches of rain falling over parts of texas. >> we've got the boat over there right now. >> reporter: emergency crews going in with boats and humvees. to reach stranded residents. a close call for the more than

their flooded truck. another man stuck when he waded in to find his submerged vehicle. >> i just stood there and watched my car slowly disappear. >> reporter: when flood waters derailed this freight train, the two people on board swam to safety. a cow needed help getting back on solid ground. in san antonio, rescuers managed to reach a man swept more than a mile through a storm drain. >> you can imagine crashing along the walls in there. it was a wild ride for him. >> reporter: the storms swept in with damaging winds, two reported tornadoes. >> i looked out the window. and all you saw was a whirlwind of trash. >> reporter: along the coast in gal galveston, flags warn of the dangerous surf. waves up to ten feet high forced an empty tanker to run aground. here flooding in neighboring louisiana.

it weakened as it hit the mountains. more than 3,000 homes were damaged. along with nearly 10,000 acres of farmland. areas were spared. breaking overnight, a deadly whale-watching accident. off the coast of british columbia. this is what it looks like when a boat carrying 27 people went down in calm waters. the boat was called "the leviathan ii." of the 27 people on board, at least five people were killed. 21 were rescued. eight are in the hospital this morning. authorities are starting to look into what possibly caused the boat to sink. a spokesman says the incident happened in weather perfectly fine for this time of year. new charges this morning in the deadly crash at the oklahoma state university homecoming parade. thousands of spectators were watching when a car plowed into them from behind, killing four people, including a 2-year-old. the driver, adacia chambers
