out why a high priced military blimp floated away and kept floating for hours. the blimp now in at least two pieces on the ground in rural pennsylvania. abc's elizabeth hur has the story. >> many questions, few answers following a jlens blimp that went down in central pennsylvania. joint land attack cruise missile defense elevated netted sensor system. >> jlens is what the army calls an aerostat. it's designed to carry a radar system as high as 10,000 feet up into the air. >> this protects the national capital region but it's a very sophisticated military technology, classified. >> defense officials say around noon the blimp built by raytheon broke free from its tether in maryland and began drifting north over pennsylvania about 60 miles southwest of scranton, reportedly knocking down power lines. two f-16 fighter jets were scrambled to shadow the movement of the hi-tech blimp. >> somebody did try to use the button to bring it down but it didn't work.
