dozens of letters from his friends and family to the judge. he will learn his fate today. ray: good morning, sean. the 43-page memo from the defense claims that he made a mistake as a high school senior the rest of his life. the jury convicted him of misdemeanor sexual assault and a felony count of using a computer to convict -- seduce a child under 16 years of age. he still faces the possibility of having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. friends and family say he has suffered enough, including losing his scholarship to harvard, but a legal analyst time. >> the judge has to also consider deterrence.

drywall sparked a fire in derry last night. a neighbor reported the fire just after 6:30. when firefighters arrived on stone fence drive, they found flames in the front foyer. the damage was contained. manchester police have seized about 1500 hits of heroin worth more than $10,000. 35-year-old elmer torres faces multiple drug charges after officers found 300 grams of heroin in his car. erin: a new mini mall is coming to the city of manchester. the former sylvania plant is being transformed into 3000 square feet of retail space. the project will keep most of the building' s structure. the mayor said that this will help bring more people to the area. >> they are working to get some in there.

erin: welcome back. a military surveillance blimp broke loose from its tether yesterday and floated for hours before deflating and falling back to the earth. two fighter jets were scrambled to track the blimp. the tether brought down power lines in the area. take a look at this. an impressive fireworks display lit up the sky in the netherlands, but it was a very dangerous situation because the fireworks were stored in the attic of a home and they started to launch when the home caught fire. the good news is no one was hurt. sean: the house passed a bipartisan budget deal that also raises the federal debt ceiling. new hampshire representatives split their votes with democrat annie kustor in favor and

republican frank guinta opposed. meantime, wisconsin congressman paul ryan will likely be the new speaker of the house by the end of today. republicans officially nominated him yesterday and the full house will vote today. john boehner abruptly announced his resignation last month. erin: kids are not the only ones who get dressed up for halloween anymore. the national retail federation predicts that 20 million people will dress up their pets this million. some of the most popular options this year --darth vader, yoda, batman, superman, and a lion. sean: a big red wings fan. morning to now. 40 degrees warmer up in whitefield. 30-plus degrees warmer in a lot of locations. you will notice the warmth is not going to last as the cooler air rushes in tomorrow afternoon. temperatures today, upper 60' s to mid 70' s. there is that that' s coming through in a scattered variety. anything we see later today does not last more than 35-40 minutes. once it goes by, the cooler air rushes in. the chance of a shower or two on sunday. look for brighter skies and then we drop quickly was clearing skies later tonight. lows anywhere from the upper 30' s to mid 40' s is going to feel more like 20' s and 30' s tomorrow. more like october tomorrow and then a lot of sunshine for your halloween afternoon.

sean: owen labrie will appear in court for his sentencing. his lawyer is asking for probation. yesterday, the defense submitted a memo to the judge including letters from dozens of his friends and family. ray brewer joins us live. good morning. ray: good morning. the message repeated over and over again in that 43-page memo is that owen labrie made a mistake as a high school senior and should not have to pay for it for the rest of his adult life. >> i would have to say a probably glad i' m not owen labrie. ray: owen labrie is preparing to learn his punishment. the jury convicted him of misdemeanor sexual assault and a felony count of using a computer to seduce or entice a child under the age of 16. the defense attorney is asking for the judge for probation. a legal analyst says we can

sean: a mother from newmarket is accused of trying to hold her child underwater in a bathtub. guilty. according to court documents, she has mental health issues. the child' s father told officers she tried to push the child under the water. contact with any of her children. erin: donations are pouring in for a family dealing with the devastating loss. nine-year-old christopher chester died suddenly friday night from congestive heart neighbor' cookies. the state medical examiner said he had a genetic heart condition which causes the heart to enlarge. the rare condition can cause any symptoms.

a bomb threat on a plane that was getting ready to take off from logan airport. sean: massachusetts state police say the 55-year-old was on a united airlines flight when he claimed he had a bomb in his tag in front of other passengers. police charged him with making a false bomb threat. he will be arraigned today. erin: a new report is documenting the fatal errors made in the case of a little girl found dead on a beach in massachusetts. the body of two-year-old bella bond was discovered on deer island back in june. an independent investigator found that state social workers failed the little girl when they closed her case in 2013 after receiving reports that her mother was neglecting her. the mother' s boyfriend, michael mccarthy, is charged with her murder. her mother is charged with being an accessory after the fact. her biological father says he is disappointed in the way that his daughter' s case was handled. >> i'

the new england patriots are back in action tonight taking on the red-hot miami dolphins. the game starts at eight: 25 in foxboro. sean: might be a little tired tomorrow morning, just so you know. today is national cat day. i know where kevin is going to be. the internet cap video festival is being held at the berkeley performance center. festival features a collection of videos of amusing and adorable cats. the video of the winner -- the winner of the coveted "golden kitty award" will be selected online. erin: there have to be more videos of cats out there than any other animal. sean: full disclosure, i will -- kevin goes home at five or six hours at a time to look at videos of cats. kevin: full disclosure, that is why i will be tired tomorrow morning. [laughter] kevin: clouds, rainfall, and warm temperatures. it is a soggy start to the day. there is water on the highways early on. ponding in places. the heaviest of the rainfall has pushed away. what we are seeing is now to our northeast. there are two other areas of rain to focus on, one on the doorstep now moving through vermont. the other batches back in western new york. that is the actual cold front. behind that, the precipitation is not all rain. it does mean that there will be another batch of showers, maybe even with the warmer of thundershowers. there is a look at it again. 1-2 plus inches of rain and

maybe even adding on in some locations a third to an additional half-inch of rain. that will be around during the morning commute. there will be breaks in the overcast back to the west after that. we start off in the 50' s and 60' s. a lot of this warmer air transported northward with what was left of this tropical storm patricia just a week ago. there is a little humidity to go along with it with dew points in the 50' s and 60' s. we will continue to see the warm temperatures around until the front gets here. the cooler air will start to rush in, but not before temperatures go to the lower 70' s this afternoon, maybe as high as 74-95, with a couple of -- 74-75, with a couple breaks of sunshine possible. we all clear out later on this evening after that chance of a couple of thundershowers. overnight, temperatures dip back into the 30'
