now, wmur news 9 at 6:00. stephanie: some unusual weather is coming your way this week. you' re taking a live look in manchester where it is 56 degrees. good evening, i' m stephanie woods. meteorologist hayley lapoint tells us about a warm up for the first week of november. hayley: it will be very unusual. . we usually have temperatures in the 50' s. we will easily be 10 degrees above that. some of us may touch 70 degrees by the end of this workweek. i want to tell you about showers passing through the state, especially in the lakes region. there were a quick couple of downpours that loop -- moved through laconia. now we have raindrops from rochester down to dover. may be in the northern reaches of portsmouth. these should dwindle in the next couple of hours. overnight, most of us clear. temperatures in the 50' s now.

we will fall into the 40' s overnight. tomorrow, 50' s up north, mostly sunny and 60' s in the southern part of the state. i will have a full breakdown of the forecast in a couple of minutes. stephanie: an early morning burglary at a dunbarton home. police say that at about 4:20 this morning someone trespassed on a property on clinton street and took several power tools and an atv from the home. if you saw anything or anyone suspicious in the clinton street area, you can call dunbarton police. an emaciated pit bull in claremont has a long road to recovery after being found on the town' s railroad tracks. hope is under the care of lost my way animal shelter. she is a couple of weeks old and was found last week. she is suffering from extreme salvation and cannot walk on her own. police are aware of the situation but say it is unclear if the dog was abused or neglected. animal shelter officials say there are signs the dog was under someone'

>> it takes a long time for a dog to get in this shape, so somebody or something -- she has not eaten for quite a while. this justice not happen overnight. stephanie: shelter is accepting donations for her care and will be setting up a go fund me page. we will have more on the story tonight at 11:00. police say someone in north reading, mass was giving trick-or-treaters cough syrup last night. reading police say they received a complaint of a neighbor in the boston suburb leaving out samples of hyland' s 4 kids cold ' n mucus cough syrup for halloween. after officers spoke to the family, they determined it was a bad judgement call. the family will not face criminal charges. today, you can start enrolling in health care through the federal exchange. you can expect to pay more in premiums next year. the department of health and human services says the average price will increase by an 5%. there will also be 13 more types of health care plans. the federal government estimates

53,000 granite staters will enroll. this morning, dozens of concerned citizens in milford abuse. local churches partnered with community action for safe teens for a prayer service on the milford oval. lives have been lost to addiction. end of red ribbon week, a national anti-drug campaign. voters in 10 new hampshire cities will vote for their mayors on tuesday. here are the cities with seats up for grabs. in manchester, mayor ted gatsas is running against joyce craig. to learn more about the mayoral candidates in each city and check the polls, head to our website, wmur.com. there was an unforgettable moment at the spaulding high school football game this past friday night against take a look at this video. sophomore teagan house made a touchdown while in his wheelchair. but that hasn' t stopped him from being a huge part of the red raiders football team. kristen carosa joins us live

with more on his caring classmates. kristen: teagan has been a part of the team for about a year. and as you are about to see, it' s a relationship that has changed not only teagan' s life but the lives of the players as well. this is a moment the spaulding high school football team won' t forget. the team' s honory captain, teagan house, got into the end zone and made a touchdown for the first time. >> one of the players handed me the ball. i went down the field and they were tackling players so they couldn' t get me. it was super exciting, all the players were cheering and excited for me to do this. kristen: teagan has muscular distrophy. he' s losing muscle control and is confined to a wheelchair. >> there was nothing but pride coming out of me when i saw him take that field. kristen: his special moment came during the last football game of the season against winnicunnet. players say it' s been a tough season to get through. they didn' t win one game.

but they say after watching teagan, that doesn' t matter anymore. >> better than winning any game, any championship. i have never heard this crowd louder. >> the whole team rushed out onto the field and surrounded him and cheered. something i' ll remember forever. kristen: josh lapointe and his senior classmates say they aren' t focusing on this year' s losses. but instead, on what they have gained this year because of teagan. a relationship that was formed more than a year ago. >> i keep thanking these boys. and these boys keep turning it around and saying no, you don' t know how much he has impacted our lives. kristen: teagan' s mom says one day last year, three football players approached him at lunch and since then they have made him a part of their lives. >> it wasn' t just on the field, it was off the field. kristen: the players eat lunch with him every day, started coming to birthday parties and exchanging gifts on holidays. she says they see teagan for who he is, not his wheelchair. >> he' s honestly one of the toughest kids i have ever met.

kristen: teagan has been on the sidelines for every practice and every game, cheering the players on. and when he finally got his chance to get into the end zone, it changed his life and the lives of these players forever. >> i think we all learned that there is something a little more than wins and losses in life. and i could not be prouder of the way this team came together. it' s one of those things that your life. kristen: coach jeff hunt says the players on the winnicunnet football team were just as proud to be part of this moment as his own players were. just a wonderful act of kindness by everyone involved. in the studio, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. stephanie: bridge work on the maine new hampshire border could slow you down this week. inspectors are working on the sarah mildred long bridge monday through friday. the bridge carries the route 1 bypass over the pscataqua river between portsmouth and kittery. lane closures will be between

8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. construction go on longer if the weather delays work. investigators are trying to confirm wreckage found in the bahamas belongs to the cargo ship el faro. el faro disappeared on october first with 33 crew members on board. several of them had ties to new england. authorities say they want to survey the wreckage and locate a voyage data recorder. the national transportation and safety board says sonar detected debris yesterday new the ship' s last known position. still to come on news 9 at 6:00 -- one marathon runner completed a goal he' s been working toward for 13 years when he crossed the finish line today. plus, the winners of the manchester marathon. hayley: we do have rain showers moving across the state now. for most of us, that will be it

more than a thousand runners came out the annual anthem manchester city marathon, half marathon, and relay. the race started just before 9:00. race organizers says the annual event draws in people from 30 states. the festivities kicked off saturday with a health and wellness expo. >> we partner with anthem. our expo has vendors that are all about health. the ymca had a kids expo yesterday. our whole mission is health and fitness. it' s community. stephanie: the first to cross the finish line was 27-year-old morgan kennedy and 32-year-old mary klene of manchester finished first place for women. among the athletes running today was a 73-year-old man from las vegas. john maultsby has been on a quest to run a marathon in every state. and today, he completed that goal by finishing his 50th marathon. maultsby has run seven marathons this year alone. it took him 13 years to run a marathon in every state.

u-local.wmur.com. >> now, meteorologist hayley lapoint and your forecast. hayley: good evening. today, we got to see sunshine in parts of the state. in others, a lot of clouds. in claremont, wet pavement. a couple of showers have passed through, particularly in central and northern new hampshire. it looks dry in portsmouth. with sunset earlier, we have been under darkness for almost two hours. with the time change last night and early this morning, the

sunset now happening at 4:38. look at the end of the month. the sunset will be happening at four: 12:00 p.m., so we are losing a lot of daylight at the beginning and end of the day. you will notice it tomorrow when you' re heading back to work and school that sunrise happens a lot earlier at 6:20 a.m. the other thing about november, we will have temperatures getting a lot cooler. the average high for this date was 54, a low of 32. you see how we jump off by the end of the month. the average highs by november 30 in the lower 40' s as we approach december and wintertime. rain showers have been tracking across the state. they are mostly in the northern part of the state now. a few scattered showers can' t be ruled out through the next few hours, especially in central and northern new hampshire. to the west, it is very quiet toward toronto, chicago. there is high pressure that will scoot in and kick out remaining showers and clouds.

for the next couple of days, the weather looks really good, especially for no member standards -- november standards when we could have snow at this time. it will be warming up each day more than the last. this will show you what is going to happen. by 10:00 tonight, most of us in the clear. in the northern part of the state, still some clouds, morning. this is 7:00 a.m. it is mostly cloudy up north. there could be higher elevation on the elevation. throughout the day tomorrow, the clouds remain stubborn probably from plymouth into lincoln and north. you will be stuck with clouds. the rest of us, a beautiful day tomorrow. southern new hampshire. that. a lot of us will climb into the low 60' s in southern new hampshire. commuting back home, it will be dark at 5:00 tomorrow night.

even up north, it looks like the clouds should dissipate by overnight monday into tuesday. look at the temperature trend over the next few days. the average high for this time in november, 54. we are well above that the next few days. even by the end of the week, flirting with 70 degrees. crazy for early november. 40' s across the state tonight with partly cloudy conditions. more clouds to the north. mainly sunny tomorrow. up north, you will be stuck with stubborn clouds and maybe a shower. for the school day forecast, sunshine especially in central and southern new hampshire. temperatures approaching 60 by the west bell. the kids can probably get away with a jacket at the shortstop and short sleeves later in the day. sunny and warmer and warmer by the end of the week, near 70. then it comes crashing down next weekend. it does not stick around long. but it is going to be a roller coaster ride temperature wise this week.

the spurs win 95-87. the patriots took care of their business on thursday night beating the dolphins 36-7, so they got to sit back and just watch some football today. the undefeated pats play the redskins next weekend. washington had a bye this week . ben roethlisberger returned to the steelers line up today against the unbeaten bengals. but bad news in the second quarter. running back le' veon bell gets taken down, and his knee is bent underneath him. he would leave the game in obvious pain. he actually left the stadium for further evaluation. it does not look good. fourth quarter, 10-6 steelers. andy dalton to a.j. green for the nine-yard touchdown. that puts the bengals in front for good. bengals win 16-10. cincy is still unbeaten at 7-0. in the nfc, the saints and giants. if you had either dree brees or eli manning in your fantasy lineups, you' re all smiles right now. second quarter, tied at 14, brees hits marques colston wide

open over the middle. that is for the 53-yard touchdown. saints win 52-49. drew brees threw for 511 yards and seven touchdowns. eli manning threw six touchdowns of his own, but saints win . it was super sunday for high school field hockey. three state championship games, all played at bedford high school today. in division two, top seeded lebanon taking on portsmouth. the raiders in white. off the corner, elle brine fires one on net. it actually redirects off a defender and rolls into the goal. that gave lebanon a 2-0 lead. how about the stick work by portsmouth' s katie locandro? i didn' t even know that was legal. apparently, it is. she gets a shot off. but there was a high stick, so it didn' t count. later in the second half, the raiders work it around the top of the circle. tiffany d' cruze will end up with it on her stick. she scores. lebanon wins the division ii championship 3-0. it' s the third title in four years. in division i, top-seeded
