she was cold, abandoned, and starving. now she's getting care in an animal shelter. they estimate she was between one and four and had puppies in the past. she weighs 27 pounds, can't walk on her own, and only just started drinking water on her own. police are aware of the situation. they say it is unclear if the dog was abused or neglected. animal shelter facials say they believe that someone left hope to die. >> if the person is out there that did this, please man up. i mean there's no excuse for this. they obviously need help themselves. >> she's still going to be needing special diets for a long time. she's going to need probably things like massage therapy that's not cheap. ray: police are asking anyone with information to call them. they set up a go fund me page. care will likely last for months. if you would like to help or make a donation. visit the story at wmur.com.

brewer, wmur news 9. erin: police in massachusetts are looking for whoever broke into a kennel over the weekend endostome three puppies. the owner of the kennel showed up a few minutes after the alarm went off and found the back door open but didn't notice anything missing until the next month. three people had asked specifically about those puppies earlier on in the day. now they do have some concerns. >> the most important thing is the puppies get taken care of. they need additional shots and certain food. erin: the puppies are all microchipped. officials hope that will make them easier to track down. sean: is man is in the hospital with serious life threatening injuries after crashing his atv in northern new hampshire. fish and game officers say 44-year-old gerard demers was rider in millsfield when he went off of the road, crashed, and was thrown from his vehicle. he is still in the hospital.

he has been charged with oui. speed, alcohol, and driving after dark were all factors in this. they say someone stole several expensive tools and an atv from a home. they have evidence showing the theft took place just before 4:30 at a home on clinton street. anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to call police right away. voters in ten cities will head to the polls tomorrow to elect mayors. you can see each city with seats up for grabs on the map, including new hampshire's largest city. incumbent ted gaseities is -- gastas is running against joist craig. erin: spaulding high school's football season is over. they lost every single game. the players feel like winners after a touchdown in their final matchup. teagan house, sophomore, rolled into the end zone friday night against

50's to lower range of the 60's. we'll look at a warming trend and any chances of showers in just a bit. erin: a russian airline official said the plane lost speed right before it went down killing all 224 people on board. he also says that only a mechanical impact could have caused the plane to come apart. sean: this morning some of the bodies of the victims arrived in russia. that country observes a day of mourning. lana zak with more. lana: the remains of more than 140 bodies are returning to grief stricken families in st. petersburg, russia. among the 224 dead, 25 children. these photos show happy families ready to make their way home. today authorities are digging deeper into the mystery of what brought down the plane just 23

>> this happened so quickly and instantaneously there may not be any evidence. what's going to be more important is looking at the wreckage on the ground and how it is laid out. lana: with eight miles of scattered debris, one theory is a bomb. >> something called something on the order of a bomb or explosion on the airplane. lana: another theory is human error or problem on the plane. the ex-wife of the co-pilot said he had campaigned about the air bus including on the morning of the crash. a final theory is could terrorists have taken out the plane? isis claimed responsibility but they lack the missiles that could take out a plane flying at 31,000 feet. >> some of the claims of responsibility we're hearing from terrorists groups do not jive with what might have happened to the airplane. lana: while terrorism from the ground is extremely unlikely according to experts,

several airlines have pledged not to fly in the space until authorities determine exactly what went wrong. erin: federal investigators believe they have found the wreck only of the cargo ship that sank during hurricane joaquin a month ago. based on sonar images, it appears the ship land upright on the ocean floor under about 15,000 feet of water. finding the that that recorder could take up to two weeks using a remotely operated deep sea vehicle that will document and record the wreckage. several of the 33 people on board were from or had ties to new england. sean: 6:12. coming up, "the martian" continues to dominate. anticipation is building up.

a massive 800 pound leather back turtle found off of the coast has died. it got tangled in marine gear, including a two foot section of rope in her mouth. they are the largest turtles and one of the largest reptiles in the world. sean: the police chief is calling it an act of terrorism after kkk fliers were found stuffed in the mailboxes of two african-american women. police and community leaders want to know if a hate group is trying to take root in the area or if it is an isolated incident. police should have gotten involved sooner by a dispatcher dismissed the original complaint. the community is rallying for an end to hate. erin: it seems that moviegoers are still out of the world for

"goosebumps" took the second spot. anticipation is building when the new james bond movie "spectre" will hit the theaters. at least eight people have been hospitalized after getting sick after eating at chipotle. it is likely caused by a fresh food product delivered to the restaurants. they have shut down all 43 of the restaurants in both washington and oregon. sean: it may seem hard to believe, but you can start picking out your christmas tree. it starts on saturday on the south side of the mountain. the family operated farm is protected forever from development. this year they will

between now and about lunchtime. we're shaping up to be a nice they. as we now transition today officially the mid way point of the autumn season as far as the calendar is concerned. we continue to watch the lingering clouds up north. any sort of a west or northwesterly breeze has a tendency to create the clouds. we're going to continue to see that with those trying to break apart through the afternoon at risk of a shower there. for central and southern areas, it is going to be some clouds. what should be a nice day. temperatures starting in the 40's. high temperatures into the afternoon making their way up into the upper 50's to lower range of the 60's. there's lower air to be had. this is high pressure in control of the weather through thursday. temperatures today just kind of the beginnings of what is to come. 50's to lower range of the 60's. breeze today out of the west to knot -- northwest. then dies down tonight.

lower range of the 40's. that's probably about as cool as we'll be for the next four or five days. another blow to the system. partly to mostly sunny skies tomorrow. tomorrow about five or six degrees warmer than the highs we have out there today. looks like temperatures with a southerly breeze stay in the upper 50's to mid 60's on wednesday. then they turn southwesterly. that will mean temperatures in the 60's and maybe a couple of southern spots reaching 70 degrees ahead of a front that will come in sometime on friday. it doesn't promise huge amounts of rainfall. it will bring a big change as far as the temperatures are concerned by the time we get toward the weekend. high temperatures today right around 60 degrees in southern areas. a blend of sunshine with some extra clouds up north. what should be a pleasant day with a breeze out of the west to northwest. tonight we drop back into the 30's across a good part of the state. lower 40's. you'll notice in the extended forecast only heading upward from

that's about half of what she should weigh. she has a long road of recovery ahead of her. >> good girl. ray: hope is weak and needs help walking. this is only the third day since last week that she's drinking water on her own. despite all of it, she's in a better place now. >> one thing about her now, she's going to know what love is. ray: the female pit bull is under the care of cathy sullivan. hope was found in the middle of the night by someone walking their dog on the railroad tracks not far from sullivan's home. >> her condition when she was found, there's no way she walked there. the vet said probably another hour she would have been gone. ray: sullivan estimates she's between one and four. the dog has had puppies. police are aware of the situation. they say it is unclear how the dog ended up on the railroad track. sullivan feels confident that someone left her to die. >> she has not eaten for

he refused to stop and started speeding leading police on a chase on to route 101. police eventually caught up with him at a home in manchester. he's scheduled to be arraigned today on multiple charges. erin: attention seacoast commuters, inspectors are working on the bridge today through friday. lane closures will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. drivers are asked to seek alternative routes in order to avoid the delays. sean: police in massachusetts are investigating an act of vandalism at an islamic center in berlin. a call came in early sunday morning reporting graffiti and other damage. the letters usa were spray painted in several areas on the outside of the building and on the sign right there as well. the same thing happened back in 2013. this time security cameras captured two suspects getting out of a white crown victoria and putting masks.

on a third man waited in the car. the president of the islamic center says he fears the crimes could escalate. >> i am concerned about safety of the people. what would be the next? what would they do next? 200 to 300 childrens coming on sunday classes. their parents are concerned asking me questions what would they do? how can you prevent it? sean: the executive director says the group will formerly ask the fbi's boston office to conduct an inquiry into the crime. erin: the countdown is on to the new hampshire primary. it is 99 days away. this week the files period opens. anyone who wants to be on the ballot can register. several candidates will be here to file and drum up support. >> we see this as a fall, you know, fall reset for the candidates. this is, you know, now the game is really on.

morning with a look at the clouds up north. these will try to break apart. you can see some drier air trying to work their way in. the west and northwest has a tendency to keep the clouds going into the afternoon. that will go five to 15 miles an hour. southern areas of the state watching a system pass well to the south. showers staying to the south. some of the lower valleys in the normal spots down into the 30's. elsewhere we're in the 40's. the farther north you go again some of the central valley and 30's. a lot more 40's out there. then you get into the north country. temperatures are well into the 40's thanks to the clouds. you are not going to move quite as much into the afternoon. here's a look at it. either side of 60 for southern areas. a good deal of sunshine. you get the opposite effect as the west wind hits the northern and western slopes. temperatures in the mid to upper 50's. likely lower 50's. clouds and maybe a stray shower this morning trying to break apart into the afternoon only

later on tonight. with that, there could be a stray shower. that's about it as far thursdays. the next system tries to arrive on friday. it doesn't promise any heavy rain. temperatures each of the next several days will work their way up. tomorrow with a good deal of sun, we're five or six degrees warmer than today. most. we should be in the low and mid 60's through the end of the week as the next system arrives in the way of a cold front. that front eventually brings us the chance of a couple of shower and cooler air by the end of the week. temperatures starting the day in the 30's and 40's. eventually creeping their way back into the 50's to lower range of the 60's. the breeze starts to lighten up later on this evening. that will allow temperatures to dip back in a lot of areas into the 30's to lower range of the 40's. you'll notice in the extended forecast, temperatures well above the average for this time of year. it is 60's for most through thursday. 60's to even near 70 degrees on friday.
