get a drivers license. ray: that' s correct. the suspect' s from the dominican republic and stole the identity of a manchester man to obtain a new hampshire drivers license, titles, and registrations for vehicles. police seized more than $56,000 s home. they also found 55 fingers of heroin, two bricks of cocaine, and individually packages of cocaine. police say there were roughly 2 750 individual doses of heroin. the street value of the drugs is estimated at $42,000. this man, valentin soto perez, is responsible.

police say that he refused bail, so he was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at circuit court in manchester later today. reporting live, ray brewer, wmur. sean: the bulls will reopen in several communities around the state today. including in 10 cities where voters will elect mayors. erin: voters in manchester' s are expecting record turnouts today with a close race between republican incumbent ted gatsas and democratic challenger joyce craig. they say they are ready for the election today. >> the schools are better, the environment is better, the economic development is better. let' s keep working and moving forward on the great things we have in the city. >> we spent seven months knocking on doors in the city with hundreds of volunteers.

ammunition, and developing an alert system to prevent people who are not allowed to buy guns from buying one. democrat larry lessig has decided to end his bid for the white house. he has failed to reach 1% in the polls, meaning he did not qualify for the primary debates. erin: senator kelly ayotte is gearing up for a tough reelection fight in 2016, but she could face a challenge from within her own party. as wmur political reporter john distaso first reported, former house speaker bill o' brien and other liberty conservatives plan to hold a secret meeting tomorrow night to discuss a primary campaign against ayotte. they say they are upset over her position on the budget and switching her position on climate change. sean: the fbi is now getting involved in the investigation into the murder of the

62-year-old denise robert. a truck was seen driving away and seen speeding toward union street. investigators will return this week. residence on ray and north adams street are giving people permission to search their yards. >> knowing that we have outside resources to help us, as a community, let' s all just work together. sean: the fbi says it cannot comment further on its role in the investigation. the reward leading to an arrest in the case is now $42,000. erin: the state is now accepting applications for patients in new hampshire who want to buy and use medical marijuana. the department of health and human services will review applications, but registry id cards will not be issued until the dispensary the patient wants to use is approved.

a house in tennessee. carter has been involved with habitat for humanity for more than 30 years. sean: federal marshals have seized the nova star ferry, which provide service between portland, maine, and nova scotia canada. portland pilots claimed the owners of the company more than $200,000 in back pay for the pilots and the nova star owes the city of portland to nearly $100,000 in fees. a spokesperson says the company will settle all of its outstanding obligations in the next few weeks. erin: most of us are looking for ways to save money and conserve energy, as well. often, those goals go hand-in-hand. we are going to look at simple things you can do around your home to reduce costs. >> a thorough investigation as the building of a system of

s home. ray brewer joins us live in manchester now to explain what led police to this suspect. ray: this arrest according to state police was the result of a six week investigation. the suspect, who is from the dominican republic, was masquerading as a manchester man. 47-year-old valentin soto perez is charged with identity theft, unsworn falsification, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, and being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon. police say that soto perez had obtain a new hampshire driver' s license, registrations, and titles to vehicles. and these are the drugs and the cash that police say they found when they raided his home. nearly $57,000 was recovered, along with two bricks of cocaine, 55 fingers of heroin, percocet, marijuana, along with individually packaged bags of

s scary, really scary. mike kids are not allowed to touch their candy after trick-or-treating unless we go through it all. >> pretty creepy. all the kids and parents need to pay attention. double check everything. erin: the mother tells us a family friend donated candy to her children so their halloween would not be ruined. sean: a jaffrey man is facing charges in connection with a head-on crash in marlborough. state police say 23-year-old ty newman was under the influence of prescription drugs at the time of the accident. troopers say he was driving westbound on route 124 yesterday evening when he crossed the center line and hit another car head-on. newman, the other driver, and a passenger in the other car were all taken to the hospital with serious, but non life threatening injuries. newman was later arrested and charged with aggravated dui. erin: a massachusetts man has been sentenced to more than twelve years in prison for planning to sell crack cocaine and being a felon in possession of firearms.

roger perkins pleaded guilty to the charges back in july. in march of 2014, laconia police warrants on perkins' vehicle and a home he is associated with. they seized more than sixty grams of cocaine more than 20 grams of crack and some psychedelic mushrooms. sean: state police made two high speed arrests on the same matter of hours. troopers say they clocked corey cole driving 121 miles per hour along i-93 in canterbury yesterday morning. the danbury man was arrested for reckless driving. about an hour later a state police aircraft clocked this man going 101 miles per hour in the same area. the 18-year-old from plymouth was also arrested for reckless driving. erin: it has now been 4 months s hands free driving law took effect and police say most people are obeying the new rules. state police say they have breaking the law. they say those numbers are

"beards for bucks" fundraiser. the money went to the granite state children' s alliance to help support child advocacy centers all over the state. the centers help in community policing and protect kids from violence in the home and on the streets. >> the donation of the 23,000 is just unbelievable for our manchester advocacy center, but even more than that is the outreach it provided for us. >> it takes out law enforcement interview aspect and makes it more like a counseling interview so we can get information with the least amount of trauma to the child. sean: a total of 125 manchester police officers took part in the "beards for bucks" fundraiser. coming up on daybreak, a giant, fast growing crack is catching people in wyoming by surprise. how experts say this massive crack was formed. erin: and police in connecticut are using a controversial tactic to teach drivers a lesson.

>> we start out with the lingering fall color and early fall temperatures this week. high temperatures this afternoon up into the 60' s. expect a good deal of sunshine south of the white mountains. clouds lingering with more showers between now and 11:00. we will tell you how long this is expected to last. sean: we have an update to a story we told you about yesterday here on daybreak. two teens have confessed to spray-painting graffiti on an islamic center in burlington, massachusetts. erin: the 18-year-olds are now charged with malicious destruction of property. one of the suspects apologized as he left court yesterday. police were called to the islamic center early sunday morning after someone discovered the words usa written multiple times on the building. police say surveillance video

police and in new haven, connecticut are using an unusual tactic to remind people to lock their car doors. they launched a new program in which officers go around, looking for visible valuables, and then take them from the cars if the doors are unlocked. the officers leave a note, telling the car owner they can pick their valuables up at the police department. some people say this is a good approach to preventing crime but others feel it goes too far, just to teach people a lesson. >> i think it might work. [laughter] >> it seems odd. >> why? >> i don' t know. it' s an interesting way to combat crime, i guess. >> it seems a little invasive. i' m uncomfortable with the idea. erin: a local civil rights attorney says the program is unconstitutional, but a spokesman for the city says there is a caretaker provision in state law that allows police to do this. sean: the widow of robin williams is breaking her silence for he first time since the comedian' s death. williams committed suicide on august 11, 2014. in an exclusive interview with "good morning america," susan roberts talked about the death

risen by .5% per year since 1998. sean: in sports. the colts took on the panthers on monday night football. andrew luck has struggled big-time for the colts this year. on their first possession he turned the ball over after a bad snap from jonathan harrison that would lead to a panthers field goal. the colts trailed 23-6 with seven and half minutes left in regulation when luck threw for two touchdowns. in the end, the panthers won the game 29-26 in overtime. erin: the newport tigers will enter the playoffs at 8-0. they are one of only two undefeated teams in division three, along with winnisquam. as the top seed in the north conference, the tigers will host fourth seeded somersworth from the south on saturday, in six of their eight regular season games, the tigers held their opponents to 8 points or less, while averaging almost 42 points per game themselves. sean: a huge hole in the ground is raising concerns for people in central wyoming. the crack opened up in a rural part of the state. at last check it was fifty yards wide and at least 100-feet deep

in some places. the hunters who found the crack say it started small, but within a few weeks it grew into the length of six football fields. geologists say the crack was formed by a slow moving landslide. they say it is not dangerous, because of its remote location. erin: it is cool looking. check out this incredible video out of thailand. a falling meteor was seen streaking across the night sky yesterday evening. two locals captured the meteor on their dash cams in the capitol city of bangkok. the thai astronomical society later confirmed on their facebook page that the falling object was a meteor. look at that. sean: this is not "war of the worlds" or "superman." kevin: you noticed that a lot of times in other parts of the world.

we start off this morning with what looks like a nice day. the exception will be the start to the day. washington, just above the freezing mark. a few showers overnight. we have sunshine and southern areas of the state. temperatures on the mild side running at or above the average. a front comes through and things cool off in time for the weekend. we have had a few showers moving through overnight. the dry air starts to come in behind that. that will lead us to this huge ridge of high pressure. it will keep the sunshine around in the mild temperatures through the end of the week. their way through.

erin: a good day to stand side and watch football. sean: new hampshire' s first-in-the-nation primary status hasn' t always been a sure thing. 40 years ago, former state representative jim splaine filed a bill that separated the primary from town meeting day. secretary of state bill gardner says without that bill becoming law, the primary as we know it today would not exist. but, at the time, splaine had to fight to pass the bill. adam: what was the reaction? going to cost more money? what were people saying? mr. splaine: there was a bit of a sigh. i think a lot of democrats and republicans in the 1975 legislature were thinking -- do we really need to worry about being first anymore? sean: tonight at 5:00, wmur political reporter adam sexton reports on the change that saved the new hampshire primary and why heightened tensions over the
