very soon after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. police aren' t saying much at this point, right? ray: not saying anything at all, sean, as a matter of fact. there are police cruisers at the scene on granite street. i saw an investigator in the alley there. police rushed to 472 granite street last night after witnesses say they heard several gunshot. police blocked off granite street for several hours working late into the night gathering information. the attorney general' s office is also involved in the investigation. officials have not released any details. >> on my porch about a block away and then i suddenly heard about 5-6 gunshots. >> i was in my house with my two kids and i heard six gunshots right in a row, no stopping.

that was pretty much it until the sirens. it was loud. ray: investigators with the ag' s office say they will release information, but it is unclear when that update will happen. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer. erin: an autopsy is planned for today on a body found following a fire in swansea. firefighters were called to 209 carlton road yesterday morning. the fire marshal' s office says the owner of the home had died on monday, the day before the fire, and the body was still inside. that person' s name has not been released. it is not clear what caused the flames. sean: manchester mayor ted gatsas has won a fourth term leading new hampshire' s largest city. his margin of victory is so narrow that top democrats expect

21-year-old jordan welch was found unconscious inside a camper on monday and died at the hospital. with this serious drug issue facing our state, the executive council will vote on governor maggie hassan' s requests that lawmakers return to concord for a special legislative session to focus only on heroin and opioid and the crisis. the governor wants to put criminal penalties for the sale of the painkiller fentanyl on the same level as heroin and appropriate money for statewide drug courts. erin: one of the most-watched votes yesterday was in ohio yesterday, where voters rejected a proposal to legalize medical and recreational marijuana. wmur' s reid binion takes a look at this.

erin: we are following breaking news from south sudan where a cargo plane crashed just after takeoff killing at least 23 people. some of the victims are children and the wreckage from the russian-made plane is strewn across the nile river. several people were escorted by police often airplane in los angeles and they claim it was became -- because they are black. spirit airlines said the man got upset because his seat was double booked and they offered the man and his girlfriend two other seats on the same flight. all of the passengers were given hotel vouchers and booked on another flight. spirit is investigating to see if there was discrimination. sean: five years have passed since 33 miners were rescued and nine of them are suing their lawyers for fraud.

way over to her to see if she was ok. sean: he believes his daughter' s car caught between two cars that were racing. police are not saying if any charges will be filed. erin: the driver in salem narrowly escaped injury after crashing a car into a hair salon. a car slammed into the front of supercuts on north broadway. one person was inside the salon, but that person was not injured. the crash caused minimal structural damage. sean: another bottle of meth has been discovered in franklin. it was found on the northern rail trail. a man stumbled upon some other meth bottles while walking in the woods near spring street. erin: the doma county delegation has approved more than $8

somehow managed to get his leg shackles off, use them to break the window, and somehow disappeared into the woods. he was captured without incident. sean: an arkansas police officer is facing charges after he lied about being shot during a traffic stop. >> there was no stop, there was no shooting, except for him shooting his own uniform shirt. sean: the 50-year-old officer was arrested yesterday on suspicion of filing a false report. he admitted about lying. crime scene. he said the shot grazed his bullet-proof vest and deflected off of him. erin: a new study shows that the likely making you dumber. the study reported that stuffy

the wall. it is apparently payback. sean: the annual granite state baseball dinner is being held on november 21 at the radisson and bow center. a stellar cast of ballplayers including jackie bradley jr., chris cola bellow, and sissel fielder will be there. erin: the royals and their fans celebrated their world series victory with a parade through kansas city yesterday. the route was 2.3 miles long and is being called one of the biggest parties the city has ever thrown. this is their first championship in 30 years. the royals also won the world series back in 1985. sean: a diehard mets fan has a permanent reminder of his team' s loss in the world series.

josh davis jumped the gun on getting a world series champs tattoo before the series began. he got the tattoo on his ribs. when he went to his appointment, the artist said they could not talk them out of getting the infamous inc.. >> it is a risk you run for sure. the way he came in and it meant so much to him, you know, it is all good. it' s all good. we have all kinds of ways to cover it up. >> i think it is a whole cool experience. m looking at all the positive aspects of it. [laughter] sean: that' s the thing. his $300 tattoo represents his dedication to his favorite team, he said. erin: a little too dedicated. maybe you can turn that five into a six, fingers crossed. we are enjoying some warmer than normal far temperatures. erin: we rarely get questions about the weather from our viewers. we are answering common ones in "what the winter?" >> we get all types of wintry precipitation falling out of the sky. most of us will see each type of this winter weather this season, sometimes even in one storm, depending on the temperatures. the temperature dictates everything and it is not just the temperature at the ground, it is also the temperature up in the sky. here is how certain types of winter reapers the petition happen. first, we are going to start with rain. rain happens when the air in the clouds and on the ground are above freezing. when layers are different from each other, we get nasty mixing. for freezing rain, you get rain droplets that fall into a shallow layer of cold air near the ground and then it can

freeze upon contact with the ground, leaving a coating of glaze. sleet is frozen precipitation that falls as ice pellets. ice pellets occur when snowflakes melt into raindrops as they passed through a thin layer of warmer area. the raindrops than re-freeze then fall onto a layer of subfreezing air near the ground. ok. let' s talk about snow. this one is a little easier. it happens when the air in the clouds and on ground are freezing. hale never falls in the winter. it only falls out of warm season thunderstorms. there is a big difference to how it forms. that is this week' s "what the winter weather?" we want your questions. send them to wmur.com or facebook us. kevin: i' ve had enough over the years. [laughter] kevin: we start off this morning with what looks like a pretty quiet start to the day. otherwise, we are looking at a good deal of sunshine into the afternoon. the exception the last couple of days has been the north country, which has been stuck in the clouds. today, a good deal more sunshine is expected there and temperatures will respond. you can see a few lingering clouds in that direction. you can see patchy fog in lower lying valleys. we will continue to see a pretty nice afternoon with temperatures working their way up into the low-end mid 60' s. a huge ridge of high pressure and control across the northeast going all the way down through texas. eventually, a front bumps into this. this ridge is reinforced next week. after the course of the weekend, we start warming up again next week.

temperatures with a much lighter the big change for us. we will have a much lighter wind through the afternoon. half of the 40' s and then submit 30' s -- some mid-30' s in the north country. high temperatures today, low-end mid 60' afternoon. a much lighter breeze at around five miles per hour into the afternoon. it may turn into a seabreeze later on this afternoon. anywhere from the 30' s to the lower ranges of the 40' s. 34-45 overnight. tomorrow, we recover yet again back into the 60' s. lower 60' s north to mid and upper 60' s. then you will notice the clouds starting to work their way in. clouds, maybe a few breaks during the day on friday with highs in the 60' s to lower 70' s. a front approaches late in the day.

once that goes by, the clearing skies, the breeze picks up and temperatures fall off in time for the weekend. a lot of areas only up through the 40' s by the time we get through sunday afternoon. highs getting back through the 60' s in most locations. certainly, a mild day and then we will fall back from the mid-30' s to the mid-40' s overnight. a little bit more fog around by the time we get to friday morning. that will be our best chance for a shower or two. we could have one early in the day or late in the day. the wind will pick up and bring in the cooler air. highs only in the 50' s, but feeling cooler than that on saturday. sunday, highs only in the 40' s before the recovery by the beginning and middle of next week as the ridge comes back in again and could be around for the first couple of weeks for
