by fewer than a hundred votes. >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 at 5:00. josh: federal officials have joined the search for answers in the murder of denise robert. good evening, i' m josh mcelveen jean: and i' m jean mackin. members of the fbi fanned out through the neighborhood today where robert was killed on august 30. wmur' s andy hershberger joins us live with details on the fbi' s investigation. andy: fbi officials were in the area of the shooting most of the day looking for any piece of evidence connected to this crime. search crews today used everything from metal detectors and knives to ladder trucks to look for clues in the murder of denise robert. the 62-year-old woman was shot and killed while walking in this neighborhood on august 30. her killer remains at large. robert died from a single gunshot wound. much of this area has already been searched and officials say the work done today by the fbi

this ongoing investigation. the victim' s brother says he' s pleased to see this much attention is being payed to this case. >> we' re way past the shock stage and we' re all looking for some sort of resolution. and there' s some anxiety about that. we know people are working on this and we' ll get this. we are hopeful that it will be resolved at some point. andy: officials say they weren' t they don' t anticipate being back reporting live in manchester. andy hershberger. jean: autopsy results reveal how a manchester man died tuesday s office says michael pittman was shot in the torso outside his apartment on granite street. investigators are calling his death a homicide. and they are still searching for the suspect. authorities say the shooting is not random.

josh: two men are facing resisting arrest charges after a pair of foot chases in 27-year-old cory roukey was wanted on another warrant. police found him at the subway on second street yesterdya afternoon. after locking himself in the bathroom he started running. an officer took him into custody after tasing him. police say a friend, 24-year-old aaron birmingham of lebanon, he was eventually arrested as well. jean: an investigation is underway after a small plane registered to a seacoast man crashed in the water near new york city last night. one body was recovered. it' s not clear if the owner of the plane was the person on board. wmur' s shelley walcott joins us live from the newsroom with more. shelley: police say the plane that crashed off the coast of new york, was registered to james mcgee from rye, new hampshire.

one body was recovered after the plane went down about a mile and a half off breezy point in queens. but the identity of the victim has not been released. the ntsb says no one else was on board the two-seater plane when it crashed. the plane had taken off from northeast philadelphia airport and was en route to portsmouth international airport at pease. the faa says no distress call was ever made. witnesses describe seeing the plane. >> he was really low. you usually don' t fly that low, and you usually go straight across the ocean. you don' t fly over breezy point. shelley: the ntsb and the federal aviation administration are investigating. a preliminary report on the crash will be released in 10 days. live in the newsroom, i' m shelley walcott, wmur news 9. jean: it was an unseasonably warm day in the granite state. josh: many people were outside enjoying the sunshine and nice weather. chief meteorolgist mike haddad tells us if the warm temperatures are going to stick around. >> i don'

supporters. he made his filing, held a brief press conference, and then headed outside for a big campaign rally. sanders says he is launching nothing less than a revolution to take down what he says is a corrupt system rigged for millionaires and billionaires. as far as comment on his party affiliation even though he had party chairman ray buckley at his side to validate his status as a democrat sanders doesn' t exactly sound like someone fully embracing the party of jefferson and jackson. >> for this campaign right now, i' m running as a democrat. i intend to win this nomination, and i intend, by the way, to help lead a transformation of the democratic party to bring in more young people and bring in more working people. adam: sanders was asked about his relative lack of retail campaigning here in new hampshire. he said it is something he does at his rallies. he essentially said he can' t help it if his message is resonating with a lot of people

and drawing big crowds. that makes it harder for him to meet one-on-one with every voter. live in concord, adam sexton, wmur news 9. josh: before sanders, two republican candidates added their names to the primary ballot. the first was florida senator marco rubio who had to ask for a pen before he could officially file. after making sure his paperwork was in order rubio took questions from reporters. he gave a sharp response to comments donald trump made in in concord yesterday, when he said rubio' s personal finances were a, quote, disaster. >> i find it ironic that the only person running for president that' s ever declared a bankruptcy four times in the last 25 years is attacking anyone on finances. josh: trump has pointed out that he never filed personal bankruptcy. rubio says he has never done anything illegal or unethical when it comes to money. >> i believe that we will win. i believe that we will win. josh: not long after rubio, a chanting crowd greeted carly fiorina. after filing her forms and thanking supporters, she was asked about her own perceived

23-year-old harrison lambert back on september third outside of his parents' home. the just released ag' s report says lambert' s father called 911 to say lambert was armed with a knife and threatening his parents. three officers responded, and according to the report, told lambert to drop the knife, but he ran towards them, and two opened fire, killing him. tonight, seven people are displaced after a fire in berlin. flames tore through the second avenue apartment building around 5:00 this morning. no injuries are reported. an investigation is underway to figure out what started the fire. time now to check at how traffic is flowing around the state. it looks like there is some troubles southbound at 293 in manchester. josh: 95.7 wzi-d' s peggy james joins us live with a look at your evening commute. peggy: you can enjoy the mild temperatures at least, maybe crack the window for the ride home tonight.

josh: officers are crediting a construction worker who confronted the attacker with saving others lives. he is one of the stabbing victims. all of the victims are expected to survive. the campus will resume classes tomorrow. jean: a lawyer for the woman charged with killing four people when she allegedly drove her car into the oklahoma state homecoming parade says she has psychological problems. documents from her mental evaluation show she thought the year was 2016 and she thought she was talking to jesus. 25-year-old adacia chambers is charged with 4 counts of second-degree murder and 46 counts of felony assault. she faces a prison sentence of at least 40 years. josh: the illinois police officer who made his suicide look like he was killed on duty at one point may have tried to hire a hit man. investigators say lieutenant joe gliniewicz was worried that a village administrator would expose him for embezzlement. they say he texted someone to try to arrange a meeting with a gang member. authorities treated his death as a homicide for the last two months but now say he killed himself.

jean: more countries are banning airlines from flying to egypt' s sinai peninsula after the deadly crash of a russian airliner. as abc' s stephanie ramos tells us, investigators in egypt say officials in the u.s. and u.k. are moving too quickly to blame the crash on terrorism. russian, egypt in, and other international teams continue to investigate. the question is still looming. what caused the jet carrying 224 vacationers, mainly russian, to break apart in the sky? in an exclusive interview with abc' s bob woodruff the u.s. secretary of defense agreed with u.k. officials that the plane was more likely than not downed by a bomb. an exclusive device. that is consistent with what we know.

distribution in the region. the company will expand its propane transfer facility in newington. residents have expressed concerns about safety. tomorrow, the state will review the plan for final approval. josh: a woman killed in a murder suicide in maine was able to call 911 before she died. police say her boyfriend shot her last night along with two other people. there are three-year-old daughter was not hurt. police say her emergency call gave them valuable information about the shooting rampage. although they have not released details. the girl is with her grandmother. jean: also in maine, one high school student was killed and 3 more injured when their car crashed into some trees early this morning. the crash happened in buxton. a portion of the road was closed while crews made repairs. the students' high school has called in a crisis team for the students and staff. josh: a maine woman is in the hospital after her car hit a moose on the maine turnpike last night.

officers say 27-year-old taylor norcross suffered head injuries . she was a passenger in a car driven by 40-year-old frank gatto who was not injured. the one thousand pound bull moose was standing in a northbound lane when the car hit it. the moose died in the crash. jean: officers found a 16-year-old student who disappeared last night. he was on an island in the middle of the pond. the search dog picked up the officers say he panel to the island in a canoe he found onshore, but was unable to get back on. josh: new hampshire is joining a coalition of states to defend the epa' s clean power plan. several states are challenging a rule requiring fossil fired power plants to cut emissions, the coalition filed a motion in the u.s. court of appeals. maine and vermont also joined
