went down wednesday night. this morning we're getting a new look at the wreckage. ray brewer is here now with more. ray? ray: phil mcgee says he's certain it was his brother, brad, at the controls of the small plane that went down off of the coast of queens. there was just the one person on board. new pictures from the new york police department show the reckage being removed from the water and extreme damage to the front end. brad mcgee called his wife wednesday night and said he was heading home from a business trip in philadelphia. he never made it. there was no distress call. >> i always thought of brad as about the most extraordinary person you could ever know. i mean that wholeheartedly, not just because he's my brother. my only brother, by the way. he's always been my hero among heros. ray: brad mcgee graduated from harvard later serving in the navy before starting two businesses in addition to

he leaves behind his wife of 30 years, terri. the because of the crash is still under investigation. in the studio, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: agents with the fbi join police to search a neighborhood where denise robert was shot and killed in august. they won't say if any clues that they found or no arrests have been made. police say the search was simply the next step in their investigation. it was not in response to any tip or specific evidence. roberts brother says he is happy the case is still active. >> i think we're getting past -- we're past the shock stage. we're -- we -- we're all looking for some sort of resolution. there's some anxiety about that. we know people are working on it. we're going to get this. we're hopeful that this will be resolved at some point.

erin: the reward for information leading to the arrest continues to grow. it now tops $42,000. sean: investigators say the man shot and killed died of a gunshot wound to the torso. the state attorney generals says 37-year-old michael pittman was shot tuesday night outside of his apartment on granite street. his death has been ruled a homicide. no arrests have been made. officials say the shooting was not random. a former prison employee in upstate new york accused of helping two convicted killers escape is due in court today to talk about possible restitution. the state wants joyce mitchell to pay $120,000 to cover damages done to the prison when richard matt and david sweat escaped. the former prison seamstress is serving two and a third to seven years behind bars for her role in the plot. erin: the names on the primary ballot continue to grow. john kasich and chris christie will file their

kevin: you guys know me too well. i'm frightened. we have changeable condition and overcast sky. a little bit of drizzle coming out of the fog. the fog will lift. we'll go back and forth between clouds and some sunshine this morning and into the afternoon. with a building see temperatures which are starting off on the mild side getting up into the 60's to lower half of the 70's into the afternoon. you can clearly see that. it is not one particular sky condition over another. eventually back out through the great lakes is this front. by the time it arrives, it will be a broken line of showers anywhere from about 3:00 through about 8:00 this evening from west to east. we'll see that move through. once it does, we'll start to see the cooler air ebb in. for the here and now, any sort of drizzle or light rain shower is coming out of the thickest. again that should thin out to some sunshine.

it is a mild start. anywhere from the mid 40's to upper 50's. even some of the higher elevations above 60. we are running 15 to 20 degrees above where we were yesterday at this time. so this is the last of the milder air. temperatures tonight will start to fall off. it won't be this push of arctic air making its way out of canada until sometime later saturday evening or into sunday. high temperatures today ranging anywhere from the mid 60's in farther northern areas of the state to the lower half of the 70's. concord's record high is 75. outside shot that you get there. you need several hours of sunshine. portsmouth's record high is actually only 62 degrees. you are just a few degrees shy of that this morning. broken line of showers 3:00 to 8:00. once it goes by, clearing skies and cooler temperatures. it won't be overly cold. we'll fall into the 40's to lower half of the 50's. temperatures won't recover much tomorrow on the northwest wind as the cooler air comes in.

highs tomorrow in most areas into the 50's. maybe a few flurries as we work through saturday night and early sunday. beyond that, full sunshine. a northerly breeze means temperatures don't get out of the 40's. after a cold night saturday night with lows in the 20's and teens up north, we start recovering thereafter. temperatures within a few degrees of 70. a mid to late afternoon or early evening shower. then the cooler air starts to come in on the west wind. we'll be in the low to mid 50's from manchester to the coast. in the 40's elsewhere. you can see the cool sunday. sunday night with lows in the 20's from there. recovery back to above thages for the beginning and middle of next week. not quite to the lofty standards we've set this week. mid to upper 50's not too bad with sunshine. november is the cloudiest month of the year. we have gone away from that. it will change eventually.

effort. an hour later the tail was located. shortly after that, the body was found. >> unquestionably. it was his plane. he was the pilot. there was one body found. 100% certainty on my part. no one else was flying the plane. ray: the plane was headed to the pease airport. the faa says no distress call was made. witnesses say it was clear the pilot was in trouble. >> he was really low up. low. you go straight along the ocean. ray: he was a harvard graduate, served in the navy, and started two businesses. she's survived by his wife of 30 years. they had no children. the ntsb and faa investigating the cause of the crash. erin: thank you. derry police investigating an accident that left a injured. firefighters say the pedestrian was hit by a car in the area of 96

chester road about 5:30 last night. when first responders arrived, they found a man in his oo -- 50's suffering for a serious head injury. he was taken to the hospital. there's no word on his condition. sean: joyce craig is asking for a recount of the ballots from the tuesday's election. ted gastas was declared the winner by 85 votes. the mayor already celebrated winning his fourth term in office. alderman craig is not conceding. she has filed a formal request to recount all of the ballots cast in election. >> you know, obviously i hope that the numbers turn in my favor. we'll see. optimistic. you know, in the end we'll know for sure that every vote is counted. that was very important to our supporters in which is why we moved forward with this. >> i have great faith in the clerks office. they are going to do a good job.

we'll get by this. the folks out there voiced their opinion. we're going to move on. sean: a recount could happen as erin: the attorney generals office has determined a deadly officer-involved shooting in merrimack was justified. they shot and killed 23-year-old harrison lambert outside of his parent's home. they calls saying his son was armed with a knife and threatening him. three officers responded. theyed to him to drop the knife, but he ran forward him and the officers opened fire killing him. a hampton woman is facing charges after she is broke into a home and stole a credit card. she was arrested after she was caught making transactions with the stolen card at the local hannaford.

sean: a woman is suing the state commissioner over medical marijuana. >> i'm looking for compassionate care. sean: linda horan is battling stage four lung cancer. she wants to use medical marijuana to ease her pain. she can get relief over the border in maine. dhhs will not issue one until the state's dispensaries are open. they are asking for a court order to give her a card immediately. >> we don't think there's any legal basis or moral basis or ethical basis or medical basis to deny her. the statue says she's entitled to it. >> the dying process is humiliating. i'm looking to be as aware and aware as long as i possibility can. sean: in a statement, the commissioner said quote we have great compassion for this suffering. when the legislature

injured in the accident. arkansas state police say the bus was on an interstate when it went off of the road and collided with an overpass embankment. there's no word on what caused the crash. an alabama boy that disapeed in 2002 has been found safe in ohio. julian hernandez was abducted by his non-custodial father when he was five. he was apply for colleges when a school counselor realized his social security number did not match. they worked together to determine why and soon learned that julian was in the database for children. one neighbor, who didn't want to show his face, swallow. >> i'm shocked. no clue whatsoever. none. picking the house up and put a fence up, built a

just totally shocked. erin: julian's father will face charges in alabama and ohio. sean: people in texas are picking up the pieces after a tornado in the fort worth area. it took out trees and windows. baseball-sized hail was reported. cover as soon as they saw the storm. >> we went into panic it was very terrifying. >> i saw trees falling. i went to the back door to make sure it was shut. next thing i know, we were in a tornado. sean: no injuries were reported. crews will be out later today to further assess the damage. erin: health officials say nearly half of u.s. moms are gaining too much weight. experts say that putting on too many pounds can not only harm the mom but cause a range of problems for the baby.

a new cdc study found that only about a third of pregnant women gained the recommended amount of weight. 21% don't gain enough. women should gain between 25 and 35 pounds during pregnancy. sean: speaking of pregnancy, a massachusetts woman got a huge surprise when she went into the hospital for stomach pain. turns out, she was in labor. she didn't even know she was pregnant. judy brown gave birth to an eight pound baby girl an hour after she arrived at the hospital. she was feeling different, but she thought it was a different kind of change of life coming. >> she say it is good news, you don't have any blockages or anything. you are ready to deliver. >> i feel i'm still going to wake up in the emergency room and -- hey, this was only a dream. what? it felt so real. sean: if it is on "daybreak," it is real.

a back and forth into the afternoon. eventually by 3:00 or 4:00 this front approaches. it shouldn't be as numerous as what you are seeing here. it will be a broken line of showers starting 3:00 or 4:00 in western areas and ending by 8:00. it is the cooler air that comes in behind story. we start the day in the 50's too lower 60's. a lot of cases here. temperatures are above the normal highs for this time of year. we're only going to head upward from here thanks to a southwesterly wind. not expecting any kind of rain shower between 9:00 and 3:00. it is after that as the front approaches that we'll have the better chance. high temperatures ranging from the mid 60's to lower 70's. a lot of this elevation dependent and how many sunshine you can grab. from there, anywhere after 3:00 or 4:00, we'll start to see a few showers. then skies will clear behind that. you'll notice as we
