three times in one week. last wednesday the couple says that someone vans. the next morning they found the van had been spray painted. it didn't stop there. on friday the couple got a rental car. the next morning it had been tagged and sugar put in the gas tank. now they park their car in an assigned spot. they have no idea why someone would be doing this to them. >> we know that they are targeting us. >> this isn't happening complex? >> no. >> when we get our other car back, we're going to have to park it somewhere -- are they going to find it and do it again? ray: barry is a veteran who has heart issues. because of the damage, the couple had to cancel plans yesterday to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. they are aware of the situation and police are investigating.

breaking in a house. isaac shea faces several charges, including burglary and resisting arrest. erin: dozen of protesters camped out as part of the matters of race and discriminate nation. dozens of black football players are refused to play. one student is on a hunger strike. andrew spencer has more on the mounting protests. >> in the name -- >> jesus. >> in the name of -- >> jesus. andrew: students gathered to highlight complaints of racism on the overwhelmingly white campus. now posted more than two dozen football players have joined the calls for the university systems president to resign. the players said they will not be part of any practice or game until he does so. players met with their coaches on sunday as the team canceled its schedule practice. most of them were tight

lipped about the meeting and controversy. >> i'm not allowed to comment on much. we're going to all stay together as a team. we all made this decision as a team to, you know, not talk to the media. you are not going to hear much from the players. andrew: they wrote online the mizzou family stands as one. the move comes after jonathan butler started week. he accused the leadership of not doing enough to address racism on campus and push mizzou in a positive direction. >> i'm in this because it is that serious. we're dealing with humanity here. at this point, we can't afford to continue to work with individuals who just don't care for their constituents. andrew: the president, tim wolf, issued a statement saying he's dedicated to ongoing dialogue to address these very complex societal issues, giving no sign that he intends to resign.

news 9. sean: two more presidential hopefuls will file today for the new hampshire primary ballot. hillary clinton and jim gilmore. during an interview with news 9 last night, gilmore says he plans to focus his campaign on the granite state. >> i think this is the place where my ideas can get out there and people are receptive to the experience and the approach that i have that i'm able to take and my focus is new hampshire. i've been here already 14 time. this year. i will be here much, much more. because i want to win the new hampshire primary. sean: a group of dedicated hillary clinton supporters hit the campaign trail yesterday. the arkansas travelers first came to the granite state in 1992 to support bill clinton. they are credited with helping him get past the genni fer flower scandal. >> they are just regular people telling their stories. it made a big impact in 1992.

9th. temperatures are in the mid 20's. that's with a few extra clouds. sunshine expected today. temperatures up into the 50's statewide. we'll talk about two shower chances with the future cast in your forecast coming up. erin: two more frat houses at u.n.h. have new safety measures in place this morning thanks to local firefighters. sean: the durham professional firefighters local 2253 has been work, the school since 2013 to place automated external defibrillators, aed's, in every greek home. five of the 12 greek houses are outfitted. >> it is a proactive decision. it could save a life. we hope we never have to use it. we can't predict the future. we feel safer, the brothers and guests, having it in the house. sean: several sororities have aed's thanks to the ongoing effort.

erin: getting into the holiday spirit. the club offered free rides to anyone who brought new unwrapped toys to give to toys for tots. they were looking for a direct way to help. >> every year the marines come here. we load up the van at the end of the day. they ride away with three to 600 toys. >> how about is that? a.j. power sports co-sponsored the ride. they will help thousands of kids this year. our spirit of giving campaign is starting soon, highlighting other local group providing help this holiday season. sean: i love there are a lot of smaller groups helping out. right now it is 6:13. coming up, are school buses safe enough? federal regulators have launched a new effort. erin: engineers are working on a mystery after a parking lot

sean: crews are start working to figure out what caused a restaurant parking lot to collapse over the weekend, swallowing a dozen cars. it was not a sink hole, but they aren't sure why the ground gave way. the gash in the parking lot is about 15 feet deep, 35 feet wide, and 400 feet long. they went for pancakes. they got a lot more. four people are dead and 14 others hurt after a pickup truck slammed into a church man and burst into flames. one child in the van was killed and six others hurt. four critically. all ten years old or younger. investigators say the truck rear ended a car and crossed into oncoming traffic. it is one of the worst scenes they have ever seen. erin: james bond is shaking things up. "spectre" easily took the top spot with $73 million, making the it the second best opening

ever for a bond movie. "the peanuts movie" debuted in second with a strong shows of $45 million. veterans day with week, the state attorney general is urging you to do your research before donating to military charities. the attorney general and national guard say that some organizations have high fundraising costs, meaning that little of your donation will be used to help veterans. read up on groups first so you know where your money is going. the city of keene has installed two new charges stations for electric vehicles thanks in part to a state grant. stations particular to these are at the commercial street parking lot in downtown and require a parking fee of $149. more and more people in the area are driving electric vehicles creating a grows need for charges stations. sean: federal regulators launched a new push to get seat belts for every seat on every school bus in the country. the national highway traffic safety administration admits the effort will be expensive.

it would save lives. only six states require seat belts on school buses. an average of five people die in the u.s. each year in school bus crashes. it is not clear when the new requirements might be implemented. maybe you remember this. 50 years ago today the lights went out for tens of millions of people including new hampshire. a power failure started at a canadian station near niagara falls and spread on the evening of november 9th, 1965, leaving 30 million people in the dark in a matter of minutes. hundreds of thousands of people were trapped on the subway. human error. the power was restored for everyone in about ten hours. it didn't last all that long. i don't know if the internet went out as well. erin: i think if that were to happen today, we would be in phones. kevin: poor person with the human error. sean: some guy. i remember that might well.

kevin: bartman at -- you just kind of -- it is dark for a while. let's start off with what is a nice start to the day. albite it chilly. we're down to the freezing mark. upper 20's to lower 30's elsewhere. a good deal of sunshine around today. temperatures into the afternoon going to make their way up into the 50's. looks like some upper 50's for southern parts of the state. from there, clouds will start,ing more of a factor later tomorrow. a couple of shower chances for us, one tomorrow night and early wednesday. another one likely thursday night. this is the first of those two systems slowly making its way north. the area of high pressure in control of the weather until before the clouds start to make their way in ahead of the system. we're going to get a glancing blow from that system with just a couple of showers tomorrow night and early on wednesday. temperatures lower 20's up north. 19 on top of mt. washington. notice if you are along an area lake or depending on the elevation, it goes anywhere from the mid

mid 30's in others early this morning. we're running five, ten, 15 degrees colder than yesterday at this time. this is the coldest of this air mass for the time being. we should moderate by later on tonight. temperatures tomorrow morning likely from the upper 20's to upper 30's. highs today going in the 50's to maybe near 60 in a couple of southern shoreline. it will come with a light wind and good deal of sunshine through the afternoon before eventually we'll give way to clearer skies later on tonight. temperatures easing back into the 20's to lower range of the 30's. for tomorrow, sunshine for most of the day and some high clouds will start drifting in later in the afternoon. any kind of shower chances likely hold off until later tomorrow evening. early on wednesday morning for your veterans day starting off with a couple of scattered showers. it shouldn't be a huge wall of water. that's confined to the south. notice we start to see a few sunny breaks later in the afternoon. then the next system starts to arrive with an increase in clouds thursday. looks like later thursday afternoon to

that shower chance is centered. once that goes away, even cooler air starts to dive in for the end of the week and into next weekend. a lot of folks with full sunshine today. along with that, the milder temperatures after a cold start. high temperatures this afternoon with a light west southerly wind in the 50's and dropping in the 30's. there will be some mid to upper 20's up in the north country. notice in the extended forecast it is a lot of upper 40's to mid 50's for highs. today it is with sunshine. tomorrow with sunshine to high clouds in the afternoon. a couple of showers a possibility tomorrow night and early on your veterans day. another chance of showers later thursday early friday with a completely separate system once it goes by. temperatures cool off. we're talking highs in the 40's to lower range of the 50's as we get our way toward next weekend with partial sunshine. sean: cold nights. kevin: very typical november. sean: let's start with ray

brewer. ranch derry couple is wandering they are the target of vandalism. last wednesday somebody put dog feces on their van. the next morning they found it was spray painted. they got a rental car only to find it got tagged and sugar put in the gas tank. derry police say they are aware and investigating. sean: manchester police looking for the man that robbed a mobil station. he kaled he had weapon, though none was ever shown. he was last seen driving away on western street. the driver involved in a road rage incident over the weekend faces charges. in the cell phone video, you can see the car tailgate and cut off another vehicle before crashing. kevin: coming up, some of the

version. 17 balloons range up to 67 feet tall. it takes a lot of people. erin: that's one thing i would love to go to some year. sean: it is fun to watch on tv. they are crossing their fingers for no wind. erin: there's a new exhibit featuring models of some of the most famous icons built out of legos. sean: the center piece is a giant model of the titanic. the exhibit also includes star wars ships, world landmarks, and a robot solving a rubiks cube. i always look and think i can make a spaceship. that takes me an hour. erin: the number of different lego shapes they have and how small they get. it is crazy. the beat rolls on for the patriots. did the latest win come at a price? sean: and a car was suspended in

>> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now wmur "news 9 daybreak." erin: last week we flipped the calendar to november. it didn't feel like november. this week it is getting back to more what we should expect for november as we see the beautiful sunrise over the seacoast. 36 degrees, a bit of a chilly morning out there. sean: the colder it gets, the nice clear views. we'll talk weather in a moment. an investigation is underway this morning into a vandalism spree in derry. one couple's vehicles had been targeted three times in one week. state police are trying to determine what caused the serious crash in i-93 in salem that left three people with life

threatening injuries. officials will be recounting the votes today from the city's mayoral election in which the mayor won by just 85 votes. erin: you have a picture here of rye beach. it looks beautiful and chilly. >> this is one of those looks great through the window this morning. you walk out the door. we have dropped back into the 20's to lower range of the 30's. a good deal of sunshine. a light wind and raking left to do if you happen to have the day off, it might be a good day to do that. temperatures are up into 509's. erin: all right. we want to check the roads for you and see how things are moving out there. no problems. volume is definitely picking up on 93 south there in the windham stretch. kevin: 28 degrees. we're joined live by deb davidson. deb: good morning, kevin and erin. it continues to be a great ride through the

entire state. we're not seeing any delays from concord down to the hooksett tolls. from manchester in to salem, still about a 21-minute ride. 293 looks great. no delays on exit six on the southbound side. as you make your way on to the everett turnpike, you are up to speed and down through the lane drop. 101, 111, spaulding, and 95 are all up to speed. in massachusetts, we're on the breaks on 93 south with heavy volume from exit 48 south of the state line in methuen down to exit 36. i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: thanks. we have a traffic alert to pass along to drivers in concord as well. several streets in the downtown area will be closed today due to the main street construction. sections of park street and capital street will be closed to parking and traffic and sections of warren street and school street will be closed at different times

throughout the day for that construction. erin: a derry couple is asking for your help after they were targeted by vandals. sean: the couple says there were three incidents in one week. one case the van was spray painted. now they are struggle to pay for all of the damage. live in derry with the details. good morning, ray. ray: good morning. the couple's son-in-law has set up a go fund me page to help with the unexpected expenses. at first they thought it was a prank. now they are worried it won't stop. for the last seven years, they have parked in the same assigned spot. now they say they have no idea why someone would vandalize the van three times within a week. >> we haven't been sleeping good at night, worrying about what's going on out here. ray: last wednesday someone put dog feces on the van. >> you would think maybe

reporting live in derry, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: all right. thank you. state police are trying to figure out what caused a serious crash that left three people with life threatening injuries. the accident happened about 5:30 yesterday morning north of the massachusetts state line. an suv crashed through a guardrail on the southbound side and rolled over several times before landing on to its roof and some trees. crews arrived after people living nearby called 911 says they could see some headlights in the woods. the car was upsidedown and suspended in the air by trees. three people were trapped inside. one firefighter says this was the most difficult rescue he's ever faced. >> more than three quarters of the vehicle was in the air leaning against trees. we first had to stabilize the vehicle. it was upsidedown with heavy intrusion on the roof being pushed up. erin: firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get everyone out. two people were flown to

boston hospital and the third was taken to boston by ambulance. there's no word on their condition. sean: a man accused of hitting a rochester police cruiser while driving under the influence of drugs is scheduled to face a judge today. 23-year-old justin goodwin was driving on columbia avenue friday night when he crossed the center line and slammed into a police cruiser. the officer was able to avoid being hit head on and no one was hurt. goodwin took off from the scene and later crashed his car again. he was arrested after a brief foot chase. erin: a man accused of holding up a dover pharmacy on two separate occasions is due in court today. robert belair robbed the pharmacy on october 22nd and again on friday. both times the robber made off with prescription pain medication. sean: the ballots from the

will be recounted. it was shown joyce craig lost by 85 votes. they will retally at 9:00 a.m. we'll keep you posted on the results. erin: veterans day is wednesday. people in plaistow came together early to honor the vets. they gathered in the art center for an afternoon of music and speeches. maggie hassan was one of the guest speakers. >> this is such a great way for the community for the young people to honor our veterans. it is a reminder that we are a country that is free and safe and strong because of the sacrifices our veterans and their families have made for us. we should be stopping to thank them every and every day. educating the younger adults and those who haven't served and why we do serve. the bottom line for all of it is we fight for you and we fight for the nation. erin: many veterans and their families attended the annual event.

planning to discuss the ongoing conflict. this will be the first time in more than a year that the president has talked face to face with netanyahu. the meeting comes as tensions over the u.s.-backed nuclear deal with iran continue to strain ties between the countries. sean: the city of boston is cracking down on replica guns. >> it is really an officer's worst nightmare to come to the scene and have to make that determination is this a real gun or fake gun? sean: boston mayor, marty walsh, is planning to sign an ordinance banning replica handguns in public places. it will allow police to confiscate the firearms without a tip marked on the muzzle. erin: 100 million people could live in extreme poverty by the end of 2050.

climate change. it is expected to be discussed at the u.n. summit in paris next month. sean: all right. #notaninvasion. a strange light over the los angeles area created a lot of buzz over the weekend. >> what is that? >> we're being invaded. sean: i love the music in the background. police, coast guard, tv stations all say they got inundated with calls about that light. the light could be seen as far away as nevada and arizona. it turns out it was not extraterrestrial. it was not. the coast guard said the light came from the test flight of a naval rocket off of the california coast. they don't tend to announce the things. you can still see them. people ask yeses. erin: when you see something like that in the sky. sean: the first thought is super

erin: in the first quarter, tom brady to edelman. the patriots with a 7-0 lead. la garrett blount had a big day. dion lewis left the game with a knee injury. we'll have to get an mri. brady threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns. the patriots went on to win 27-10. they are now 8-0 for the second time in franchise history. >> that's what i thought we did a good job. we stayed balanced. it allowed us to continue to run the ball. then the big touchdown drive that we finished with was, you know, just a great drive by. all of those guys up front. erin: they are on a roll. sean: i wish i looked like that after the nfl game. i wish i was in the nfl. you get the point there. erin: the stylist team getting them all ready. sean: for the press conference. erin: the patriots play the new york giants this coming sunday.

they are among three undefeated teams, the bengals and panthers are also undefeated. afternoon game. the bruins on a power play. brian spooner netted his third goal. then in the second period, patrice bergeron let one fly. new york scored one late in the third. the bruins went on to win the game 2-1. they host california -- colorado on thursday. erin: it was the aaa texas 500. brad keslowski tried to punch his way into the top. johnson led six laps of the race. it was enough for the win. keslowski fold by harvick, kyle busch, and carl edwards. sean: hundreds of runners came out for the half marathon. thousands of runners ran the course along the

wind today if anything out of the southwest around 5. 10 miles an hour. a big area of high pressure is in control of the weather. it will be eventually give way tomorrow afternoon to that system that you see to the south along with that early this morning. there will be some extra clouds later tomorrow afternoon and some thereafter. a look at temperatures across the area. anywhere from the mid 20's to lower 30's. a lot of this elevation not a tremendous amount of fog this morning. it is the sunny start to the day for most. as we get into the afternoon, we'll see temperatures work up into the 50's with the fairly light wind. from there, a gradual increase in clouds tomorrow after another nice day, albite it cooler. it eventually gives way to a couple of shower chances. one later tomorrow night and early wednesday. another system by later on thursday. high temperatures today. lower to mid 50's in the north country to mid to upper 50's to near 60 in a couple of southern afternoon. it is going to come with a fairly light wind

around 5-10 miles an hour. temperatures will ease back. not quite as chilly as early this morning. 20's up north and 30's elsewhere. from there, sunshine through a good part of the day tomorrow. adding of high clouds later in the day. those will only thicken up tomorrow night. there will be a couple of showers trying to make their way through with a couple of showers around. from there, the system pulls away. a little bit of a brief break. maybe a couple of breaks later on wednesday into wednesday evening. then the next system runs in. this one from the pacific. it really doesn't have a tremendous amount of colder air involved with it. it will have the chance of showers thursday afternoon and thursday night before pulling away early friday. the timing sets up pretty well as the system pulls away on friday afternoon. we at least get the fair skies around in time for the weekend. temperatures starting the day in the 20's to lower range of the 30's. quick climb through the morning and leveling off by 2:30 or 3:00 this afternoon in the 50's with the light wind out of the southwest. again it will be light tonight. again temperatures will

someone put sugar in the tank. derry police say they are aware of the situation, they are investigating, and they are asking anyone with information to give them a call. erin: state police are trying to determine what caused a serious crash on i-93 in salem that left three people with life threatening injuries. the accident happened around 5:30 yesterday morning. all of the victims were taken to boston hospital. sean: a driver is facing charges following a road rage incident. police say the driver who was not yet being identified tailgated a car on i-89 and cut off another vehicle before crashing into the guardrail. erin: the ballots for the pan chester mayoral election will be recounted. joyce craig requested the recount after returns showed her losing the election by just 85 votes. kevin: pretty cold start to the day out there. a lot of areas in the 20's to lower range of the 30's. a good deal of sunshine through the afternoon. as warm as we'll be all week. the skies and we'll add
