5:42 am
bridges have no way to trap any heat. they will ice up as soon as the air temperature decreases to 32 degrees. roads, as you can see down here, those have ground underneath them and they retain their heat a little bit more. secondly, bridges are built with steel and concrete, both of which are good heat conductors. any heat moves through the surface, where the heat is lost and the airflow around it is retaining the cooler air. roads are mostly made from asphalt, which is a poor conductor of heat, and that lessens the rate of heat loss from the road. bottom line is you want to be safe when you pass over bridges. if you are passing over a bridge, slow the speed when you are approaching it because it could be slippery and you don' t know it. if you happen to slide along the surface, don' t hit the brakes, keep the steering wheel straight.
5:43 am

a few spots will hold on until 2:00 or 3:00. then a drier northern, northeasterly wind will pass through. the rain is coming down at a clarity good clip -- at a pretty good clip this morning. in the very highest of terrain, there will be a chance of a little falling in nonliquid form. we are going to continue to see temperatures hover around in the upper 30' s and mid 40' s and the mid-40' s in western areas of the state in the afternoon. otherwise, the focus will be on the clouds of the showers. the wind will gusts over 15-20 miles per hour. temperatures hold in the 40' s through the afternoon. some breaks in the overcast are a possibility in the north

partial clearing later on tonight. we will ease back into the 30' s tomorrow, temperatures get back into the 40' s to lower ranges of the 50' s. what starts as sunshine eventually goes to scattered showers tomorrow afternoon. a drier westerly breeze sets up for friday. friday night. you notice the north country friday night. not all of that is in rain form. the could be a couple inches of accumulation out of that. there will be a pretty good reason around -- breeze around both days of the weekend. this is our fourth hurricane continuing to move then to the atlantic. hurricane kate moves out into the north atlantic and continues to weaken.
