tom: the renovation for the balsams -- tonight' s meeting and has our top story stephanie: the comment building, and soon. >> how many of you folks out there want to see this project now? >> last week county commissioners and delegates unanimously approved three zoning amendments for the balsams development project. one of the changes allows them to create a special resort district for the 8000 acre project. >> it' s creating a mechanism that allows the board to do that

t starting soon enough. >> we have the dix house and so forth that are still standing. is the work going to start on that in the near future? >> the redevelopment will restore the historic dix house and renovate the exisiting 18-hole golf course. but the project will also break new ground creating a balsams lake village including a spa and conference center around lake gloriette and expand the balsams wilderness ski area to 2200 >> if we' re able to expand it in the way that we want, it would become the largest ski area in the northeast. it would be about 4 and a half times larger than the existing ski area now. >> but before any of that happens, proposers dixville capital needs to get all of their permits approved. scott tranchemontagne says he hopes some of the resort will be open for the 2016 2017 winter season but the long winters in the north country limit how much construction they can do. >> that gives us a really tight window to get the work started

build all through the summer, build all through the fall, and hopefully have part of the resort open next season. the next public hearing will be held on december 2. in colebrook, stephanie woods, wmur news 9. tom: goffstown police investigating an armed robbery at a gas station. police say a man showed a gun in his waistband to the clerk at a sunoco station. he got away with cash. anyone with information should call goffstown police. shelley: it was a rainy and raw day here in new hampshire and it turned into a pretty wet night. let' s take a live look at meredith where it is 45 degrees. there is more rain on the way. mike haddad is here with the timeline.

weather pattern in the last 24 hours. typical november weather by many standards. the mid-40' s will hold in southern zones and other temps will dip a little bit in the far north. there is some low-level cloudiness and an onshore wind, locking in the fog and drizzle. back to the west there was quite a storm sitting there in the midwest with snow, sleet, rain, and even tornadic thunderstorms. not all of that will reach us. we' re talking about my flesh and the way of severe weather but another chance of showers. we will talk about the timeline and more straight ahead. tom cole and there appears to be a lot of national buzz surrounding ted cruz. tonight the texas senator is in the granite state to capitalize on that momentum, holding a veterans town hall in kingston. adam sexton begins our

adam: senator ted cruz is riding a wave of conservative enthusiasm. >> how many of you all watch the republican debates? >> in kingston, most everyone give senator ted cruz credit for his strong showing on national television, but new hampshire vets and voters were eager to take measure of him in person. >> this is much better to get a feel of what the candidates are really like. adam: cruz gave the crowd a double-barrel dose of conservative passion, likening federal regulators to locusts, vowing to repeal every word of obamacare, and promising to fight for the freedoms secured by american veterans. >> if we stand up to the nazis, if we stand up to the soviet then i' ll be damned if we' re going to lose them to our own government. adam: local supporters feel if this fired-up candidate got more face time with first-in-the-nation voters, he' d start moving up in the polls.

today. rick santorum help -- held a town hall in windham tonight. he has focused most of his campaign efforts in iowa where he won the 2012 caucuses. south carolina senator lindsay graham attended a vigil at the franklin vfw post. he also toured a manufacturing company in hampton and walked main street in nashua. this morning presidential candidate donald trump addressed the crowd so big, the event had to be moved to the radisson in manchester. organizers say it was the largest turnout in the 20 year history of the event. trump spent an hour talking about issues ranging from the keystone pipeline to education. democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders was in

he marched in the parade and attended a ceremony. he said he will prevent cuts to benefits for disabled veterans and to va hospital. tom: a new campaign lit up today, it' s called green light affect, it is a project asking people to place a green lightbulb in a window or outside their home to show support for veterans. >> you cannot miss this house in hooksett glowing green. they wanted to flip the switch on for the new project called green light a vet. >> dad said, we don' t need a lightbulb, we need to change the whole house so airplanes flying overhead can see this. >> is a project supported by walmart and veterans groups, asking people to show

tom: this morning several hundred people gathered in boscawen, despite the rain. linda donahue and her mother gene robinson have been coming to the cemetery for nine years now to honor the memory of their father and husband, a korean war veteran. >> we' ve been coming here ever since he died in 2006. it' s just a wonderful place to be. >> it' s an important things to do for our veterans. they did so much for us. this is very simple compared to what they have done for us. tom cole and 5000 new hampshire servicemen and women are buried in the state cemetery in boscawen. tom: this morning, local and state leaders laid a wreath in the capital to honor those who have died serving out country. governor maggie hassan thanked veterans and service members for their sacrifice. there are close to 100,000 veterans in the granite state. shelley: investigators are looking for the cause of a

local landmark in campton. flames broke out at the armont inn early this morning. the owner was the only inside at -- only person inside at the time. he was able to get out safely after a neighbor woke up and called 911. more than sixty firefighters from the lakes region and beyond responded. according to the historical society, the armot inn was built in 1935. a woman for manchester is working with her neighbors to clean up their streets and put an end to the negativity surrounding it. just last week a man was shot and killed across the street from heather phillips apartment building. she says she' s trying to teach the kids in the city that when something bad happens, you don' t have two retaliate with violence. >> this shows them that it doesn' t need to be the case. you can do something good. by cleaning up the neighborhood, we are actually taking back our neighborhood, because people will see us cleaning up and see we actually care. shelley philipp says the big : items have already been piled

i'm tom steyer. and an endless supply of wind and sun, the goal is 50% clean energy by 2030. so, what are we waiting for? a major pharmaceutical company over a birth control mix-up. shelley: they allege that a mistake with their birth control pills led to their unplanned pregnancies. the 113 women, from 28 states, are seeking millions in damages. some are asking for the total costs of raising a child until adulthood, including education. according to the lawsuit, the

order so women were taking sugar pills, intended for the week of their period, at the wrong time. the women say they became pregnant before the pills were recalled in 2011. tom: chipotle reopened 30 restaurants in washington and oregon for lunch today after an outbreak of e-coli. the bacteria was linked to 11 chipotle restaurants, but the company voluntarily closed all of its stores in the area at the end of last month. an investigation didn' t find the cause of the outbreak, but health officials say the restaurants met safety conditions to reopen. shelley: a team of scientists has discovered a new planet about the same size as earth. this is an artist' s rendering of the rocky planet. researchers say its too hot for life but much cooler than the fiery planets orbiting other stars. the planet is 39 light years enough for the hubble space telescope to study.

tom: first denver was hit hard, now a massive storm system is rattling the midwest. brandi hitt has more. randy: the massive storm system that covered colorado in up to a foot of fresh no is now moving east. and pummeling the midwest with heavy rain, hail, damaging winds , and reports of tornadoes touching down in iowa. this semi truck flipped upside but several buildings have also been damaged. >> with the wind blowing all the time, i 70 is being closed. >> this is the severe weather danger zone tonight, stretching south. 30 million people will be affected by this. gusty winds up to 75 miles an hour. >> montana' s highway patrol!just

released this video of a violent crash last year, warning drivers to slow down. seconds after that big rig slams into a car, another vehicle spins out of control, followed by a third on the left. all of the victim survived. the severe weather threat is expected to be a one-day event, bracing for strong winds tomorrow up to 50 miles an hour travel. tom: mike is here to give us were about what happens here next. mike: there are storms for the next week or so. most of it staying out there. there it is, and impressive storm moving through chicagoland back through a good portion of minnesota and back through portions of iowa with snow on

there is a lot of energy and the potential out ahead of it where it is warm for -- warm enough for tornadic thunderstorms. it will weaken considerably by the time it arrives tomorrow afternoon. look at what happened out ahead of that today, the winds were busy at times especially along the shore because we had that northeast flow that kept it down and cool. one system is departing but we are left with a very light wind onshore, blocking the low-level cloudiness and drizzle that persist right through tomorrow morning. we could see a few glimpses of sunlight tomorrow morning but then quickly another storm is coming to produce rain showers

we are running in the mid-30' s, the winds general and the northeast. not much showing up on radar but below the radar there is that drizzle and find missed at times for the next few hours. here is that storm, you can tell where the energy is moving right now. well to the south of this, this is a band that will move in tomorrow. it' s much weaker so we will get showers and maybe a couple of downforce later in the afternoon but no severe weather anticipated by that time. visibility cut down in some locales to about a half-mile or three quarters in some spots. tomorrow afternoon, more showers move in, couple of heavy downpours but most will exit by tomorrow evening and then the clouds will break a little bit for friday. another weak disturbance scattered showers in the north country for friday and it will

mid to upper 40' s statewide with a chance of showers coming in after 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. mainly cloudy, drizzle and fall tonight, low to mid 30' s far north and upper 30' s and low 40' s should do it tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. it turns mild and breezy with a couple of scattered showers of rain up north. friday night it is very tricky, we will likely see a light accumulation of snow in the north country and white mountains. a slight chance that a spot rain shower could mix over with a few flakes before it ends and then it' s windy in chile on saturday. monday through wednesday, son and temperatures about 8-10 above the average.

jamie: nets vs rockets tonight. go rockets. the celtics own the brookly nets unprotected first round draft pick this year, meaning if they finish as the worst team in the league, the celts draft #1 overall. tonight they found a way to win. 106-98 as bojan bogdonovich scored 22 points. so one win for the nets this season the 76ers are the only winless team and 3 other teams have just 1 win so far, including the lakers. so with the nets pick, we can really root for the celtics this year. no need to worry about where they finish in the draft order.

shelley: the national zoo' s giant panda cub is growing up. he took his first steps this week. after a minute of watching her cub explore, mama panda scooped him up in a bear hug. the cub was born in august. he will make his public debut sometime after he' s four months old. s police dogs has a new layer of protection. tom: riggs received a bullet and stab protective vest today. the vest was donated by the interest in k-9' it' message, be save as you go into service.
