developers say if they get approval soon, the new renovated balsams resort could be opened by the end of next year. last week, officials approved three zoning amendments. more than 60 people turned out last night to offer their thoughts. the redevelopment would restore the dix house and renovate the 18 hole golf course and expand the ski area to 2200 acres. >> that gives us a really tight window to get the work started as soon as we can in the spring, build all the way through the summer, build right through the fall, and hopefully have a part of the resort open next season, the 2016-2017 season. that would be exciting. ray: the next meeting to consider approval is scheduled

for december 2. sean: ray, thanks. police are investigating a pair of strong armed robberies in downtown laconia. a woman was walking down the street when two men approached wearing bandannas and demanded her purse. four hours later, two people wearing bandannas approached a homeowner on lincoln street and amended his wallet -- demanded his wallet. a week after a man was shot and killed along granite street, a woman is organizing neighbors to clean up the neighborhood and change perceptions. >> this shows them that this always does not have to be the case. you can do something good. by cleaning up the neighborhood, we are taking back our neighborhood.

sean: the big items have already been piled up and they plan to pick up more trash this weekend. erin: police in boston are warning about a growing online scam targeting people looking for love. it is called a cap phishing scheme. robbers are setting up fake online dating profiles and then pulling a gun on unsuspecting dates and robbing them. >> it is sad because there are a lot of vulnerable people out there who are dying for a relationship and they throw all caution to the wind by getting excited for a date that they just don' t think twice. erin: police have not said what dating services or apps have been used, but they are urging anyone meeting an online date to do so when a public place. sean: a website aimed at providing information for

granite stater is about online enrollment for health care has been overhauled. you can compare things like dental plans and there are features aimed at small business owners, as well. covering new hampshire plans to distribute brochures about the federal health care law. erin: medical costs are one of the biggest expense facing many americans. many people don' t know how much care costs until the bills show up. ways to avoid sticker shock. >> there is almost no worse feeling. an unexpected bill, costs you cannot afford. when it comes to medical bills, it can be overwhelming. >> about a third of americans were hit with some unexpected bill. >> out-of-pocket costs for a knee replacement range up to $13,000.

the mid-level clouds and the low clouds that will bring the rain are starting to head into southwestern new hampshire now. the timeline is from noontime until midnight tonight before exiting to our east. we are in the 40' s for the most part early this morning. we will have a breeze developing out of the southeast. you can see that little sliver of warmth here are ahead of the front that comes through. those will be our highs tomorrow. today, we will settle for a lot of mid and upper 40' s to near 50 degree ratings -- readings. today, the showers are around afternoon to mid evening before tapering off overnight tonight. once that goes by, tries -- skies will try to start clearing.

south of that, skies should start to break apart, eventually setting up partial sunshine and a breeze, with temperatures up into the 50' s. as we go through friday night, the cooler air starts to win out. both days over the weekend look like fair skies. both days will have a pretty good breeze out of the west. it does look like we should be good for outdoor activities with very little, if any precipitation. high temperatures dipping out near 50 degrees. it will be around during the evening hours before partial clearing sets up overnight and that leads us to the air mass we will have for the weekend. the cooler air arrives truly tomorrow night. any sort of scattered rainfall we will have friday evening.

year. ray: more than 60 people turned out at the center last night to give their comments on the balsams redevelopment plan. the sentiment echoed over and over was start building and soon. >> how many of you folks want to see this project now? ray: county commissioners and delegates unanimously approved three zoning amendments for the proposed balsams resort redevelopment project last week. the chair of the board says one of the changes allows them to create a special resort district for the 8000-acre project. >> it is creating a mechanism that allows the board to do that review of a much larger scale project. ray: at a public hearing wednesday, the only negative feedback was that it is not starting soon enough.

guilty to sexual assault in 1987. he made the request after the state supreme court ruled that new hampshire' s law requiring certain criminal offenders convicted before 1997 to register is unconstitutional. the victim did not know about the request until recently and she said she wants to be heard. >> i' m not afraid. i' m here. my voice is going to be heard this time. i' m not the scared little girl from 30 years ago, from 20 years ago. i' m a grown woman and i did nothing wrong. erin: the new hampshire coalition against domestic and sexual violence set is it is working with state agencies in hopes of passing legislation that would create a clear framework on how someone gets their name off the sex offender registry. sean: a grassroots organization on the seacoast is helping dozens of families in need.

a fast-moving storm sweeping the midwest. reports of twisters in iowa. national weather service officials say the storm began around utah and then move east into the midsection of the nation. powerful wind and rain packed a punch in iowa. nearby, they flipped this semi on its side. snow and ice in colorado. lighter snow in western kansas. residents are bracing the mselves for slower commutes. up to 60 mile-per-hour winds in the rockies. it is expected to last just one day. abc news, washington. sean: an official in indonesia has says he has found an affordable way to run prisons.

the couple bought this 120-year old farm house and spent two years renovating it. due to a paperwork error, they were told by the department of revenue that the house had been foreclosed on and sold. the couple took the case to trial and they were awarded $2 million for the error. appeals are expected. sean: turning to sports, the celtics ran into some trouble against the pacers last night. the teams faced off at td garden. david lee got the layout plus the foul to close in on the pacers lead in the second quarter. indiana letter to happen they went on to win the game. the celtics play the hawks tomorrow. erin: surf' s up in new hampshire. they are hosting a junior indoor surfing competition this weekend. surfers are taking part in the event, which is sanctioned by the eastern surfing association.

this is the second indoor surfing competition to be held in the u.s. the first was held at surf' s up in august 2014. it is kind of crazy when you think about the fact that they can host a surfing competition in nashua. sean: it is cool that they brought up my old file video. [laughter] sean: it is a very cool place. erin: a team of scientists said m.i.t. have discovered a new planet about the same size as earth. sean: this is an artist' s rendering. scientists say it is too hot for life. it is 39 light-years away, which means it is close enough for the hubble space telescope to study. erin: no close-up -- kevin: no close-up pictures? sean: no. it would melt any kind of camera that got too close to it. kevin: they don' t have a manned spacecraft already headed there?

that will be our timeline for the best chances of rain today. much like yesterday, we start off this morning in the lower half of the 40' s through a good part of the state. it is not really going to slow you down too much. we are going to have an overcast sky and a breeze building out of the east. high temperatures today ranging anywhere from the mid-40' s to lower ranges of the 50' s into the afternoon. you are talking the wind kicking up over 15-20 miles per hour late in the day and into the evening. you can see that we may have a stray shower by lunchtime. the better chances going to be later on this afternoon into this evening. this one probably does not give us a full inch of rain. skies will clear quickly overnight tonight and that' s that' s a partial sunshine for

for the north, lingering clouds and a shower into the afternoon. it is tomorrow night when the cooler air starts to come in behind this system that we start to see rain showers try to change over to snow showers before wrapping up early on saturday morning. otherwise, fair skies for the weekend. as we get beyond the cooler air behind that system, things started warming up with nothing but fair skies monday through wednesday. temperatures start to warm up back through the 50' s. it will be 40' s to finish with the showers making their way in. i chance of a shower up north. we will try to switch over to a little bit of wet snow before wrapping up early on saturday. full sunshine for most on sunday
