u.s. forces have carried out an airstrike targeting the man seen in the islamic state video of james foley' s death. abc news is reporting that u.s. officials say the man known as jihadi john is believed to have been killed. the pentagon says the airstrike within syria. tom cole and he was seen in the near -- in the media showing the murder of james foley last summer. he was also seen in the video showing the killing of other hostages. once again, jihadi john the target of an airstrike by the u.s. in syria tonight. tom: good evening, i' m tom griffith. shelley: i' m shelley walcott. >> three people are facing charges in connection to the overdose death of a 17-year-old girl from rochester including her mom. >> the fact that it is the mother of the victim makes it even more disturbing to me. tom this afternoon, police : revealed that eve tarmey died

s stephanie woods is live in rochester tonight. stephanie: there have been 98 drug overdoses this year in rochester alone, but none have impacted the community like the death of eve tarmey. rochester students and staff say something needs to change. >> it' s hard for the students because it impacts them a lot, you know what i mean? >> on october 17. 17-year-old eve tarmey was found dead of a drug overdose at the riviera motel in rochester. her classmate. 16-year-old emily benson says spaulding high school students are mourning her death. >> there' s definitely been a lot of mourning, a lot of people are getting more serious about drug addictions at our school. >> three people were arrested and accused of contributing to eve' s death including her mother 41-year-old jazzmyn rood. rood was charged with conspiracy to possess a controlled drug, reckless conduct and endangering the welfare of a child. >> the fact that it is the

even more disturbing to me. >> investigators say eve was staying at the motel with rood and her mom' s boyfriend 41-year-old mark ross who is also facing charges. toxicology tests released thursday show eve had ingested a substance thirty times more potent than heroin. >> fentanyl is causing overdose deaths across the granite state. and rochester police and the dea are committed to bringing justice to those who distribute this lethal drug. >> rochester schools superintendent michael hopkins says the district is planning new anti-drug events at spaulding high school to make sure another student like eve doesn' t fall victim to the drug epidemic. >> well at least if you look at the data, rochester is one of the hot spots. and that' s unfortunate. so we really need to focus and let students and the community know what they can do to alleviate that. stephanie: 31-year-old leslie aberle of salisbury, mass, was

drug that resulted in a death. all 3 charged in connection with eve' s death will be arraigned tomorrow. live in rochester stephanie woods wmur news 9. shelley: a new hampshire department of corrections employee was arrested today for bringing drugs into the northern new hampshire correctional facility. and the prison value of the contraband he as handling, was substantial. police say this is the man who try to bring thousands of dollars worth of drugs into northern new hampshire prison, a facility they say he knows quite well. 49 wrote charles hansen has been employed as a chef at the correctional facility in berlin for 11 years. >> he was arrested and charged with delivery of articles to prisoners. the controlled drugs that he brought inside at a prison value of more than $67,000.

spokesman jeff lyons says the started some time ago. >> the department of corrections received information some months ago that this may be going on. we immediately opened an investigation, and the new hampshire state police and the department of corrections worked jointly to resolve this and make the announcement that is being made today and we' re satisfied with the outcome. shelley hanson was charged with : delivery of articles to prisoners a felony. he was arraigned and released on personal recognizance bail, and has a court appearance next month. if convicted, hanson could be sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. spokesman jeff lyons says this case should serve as an example to all prison employees, who are regularly warned about their contact with inmates. >> it' s really something that we' re all reminded of routinely. we have to go through annual training all the time, to watch out for trying to be manipulated in some way. shelley: the investigation into the case is ongoing.

new hampshire state police. >> police say this man demanded money but did not show a weapon. the tattoo on the left side of his neck is a symbol, possibly chinese. call police if you recognize him. a former seabrook police officer who pleaded guilty to assaulting a prisoner was sentenced to 21 days in jail today. surveillance cameras recorded mark richardson slamming michael bergeron into the wall at the seabrook police department in 2009. richardson told the court today that he simply wanted to move on with his life. the judge said richardson' s actions undermined the trust the public needs to have in law enforcment. shelley: in commitment 2016, jeb bush answered questions from voters tonight at a town hall meeting in tuftonboro. >> and we should campaign in a way that gives people a sense, look we' re conservatives. come join us. we' re not going to change our views to get your vote, but you'

t know it yet. shelley the presidential : candidate outlined his plans for dealing with issues including the national debt, immigration reform, and entitlement reform. three more republicans added their names to the first in the nation primary ballot today. south carolina senator lindsey graham described the day as a major benchmark in his life. graham has spent much of his time on the campaign trail in new hampshire. former pennsylvania senator rick santorum was also at the secretary of state' s office today. he admits his focus is on iowa. where he was the surprise winner of the 2012 caucuses. also filing today republican ted cruz. the texas senator says he believes he can win this primary by getting conservatives to unite behind his campaign. tom: earlier in the day, ted cruz stopped by the airport diner in manchester for a taping of our candidate cafe series. he talked about his preferred choice of footwear cowboy boots, as well as his favorite movie, the princess bride, launching

that sank last month during hurricane joaquin. navy remote underwater vehicles discovered the bridge deck of the el faro. the ship' s black box data recorder should be attached to the bridge deck. 33 crew members were on board the el faro when it went down. some of them had ties to new england. a secret service agent has been charged with trying to solicit a minor. investigators say lee robert moore thought he was sending a 14-year-old girl obscene texts and pictures, but it was actually an undercover delaware police officer. according to a complaint filed in federal court, he often engaged in the online chats while on duty including while at the white house. tom: this summer a sunday evening stroll in the north end of manchester ended with a 62-year-old woman dead. her killer is still on the loose and unidentified. the murder of denise robert has left a neighborhood shaken, investigators frustrated, and

s amy coveno reports on an unsolved mystery with very few clues. >> i remember that day very well. august 30. 8:50 p.m. a long time newspaper advertising employee enjoying a stroll on ray street. it had been her custom for the past six years or so, according to her family. >> we heard the shot. >> erin kerwin has lived on this bucolic street for nearly 13 years, raising her children here because of the closely knit sense of community. >> having this happen right outside our door brought gun violence home. >> how safe is ray street? erin says she didn' t think twice about the loud popping sound. >> it wasn' t until i saw police cars coming down the street that i ran out and saw denise laying on the ground. >> denise robert, 62-years-old, a well known ad executive for the union leader. the eldest of 12 children, raised right around the corner from where she was killed.

her brother tom was the first boy, third in line and spokesperson for the family. the nightmare started for them at 3:00 in the morning. >> all of a sudden i heard a knock on my back door. i looked out and there were two policemen and a woman. they asked if they could come in i said no. they told me through the door what had happened. i said well maybe you should come in then. >> the probing questions began right away, reaching all they way back to denise' s high school years. investigators told the family -- >> murders essentially occur between people who know each other. they' re just not random. police said that in the 3 hours >>police said that in the 3 hours before the shooting, robert was at the executive health and sports center in manchester and went shopping at vitamin shoppe, walmart and hannaford. a pick up truck was spotted on ray street around the time of the shooting. police said the truck turned on union street, speeding back

toward the city. the driver was described as a white man in his 20' s or 30' s with close-cropped hair wearing a white tank top. >> the denise robert homicide given the passage of time of a couple of months clearly it has put stress on the city it' s put stress on the family. the neighborhood. >> a memorial on ray street remains. neighbors quietly tend to her memory while the unnerving mystery of her murder lingers in october a tree was planted at the brookside congregational church nearby. denise' s family gathered for a private ceremony, a granite marker giving permenance to a life well lived. she never married and was living in bedford with her mother who is in her the family says the 80' s. two were close. >> denise did her own thing. she was her own person. she lived her life in her own way. the trail isn' t cold but >>the trail isn' t cold but investigators say they need more and last week fbi agents used metal detectors in a one block radius from the murder trying to uncover new evidence. >> we' ve been partnering with

damp side of things. the last of the showers from the system moving through right now. some heavier downforce or parts of the lakes region, good part of the -- southern new hampshire dealing with the rain. eventually it hits the coast and then his al-shabaab out midnight to 12:30. farther to the north -- then heads out about midnight. to about sandwich up for the mount washington valley, and all of this will move out in the next hour or so. then we are in the clear for a good part of the night. in the north country of few sprinkles could linger into tomorrow morning. but behind that batch of showers, there are plenty more rain showers developing in the great lakes and it will turn cold enough for a bit of snow to

fly back to the west and some of that could move it across new hampshire by about this time tomorrow night. right now we are on the eild side of things. the wind direction is out of the south and southwest. now the visibility is trying to come up a little bit as temperatures climb as well. so it should be a mild start to the day tomorrow, dropping to between 4045 in many parts of the state. then we get into some sunshine to kick off your friday. later in the day scattered showers develop in southern parts of the state, very isolated but a better chance late morning into the afternoon of rain showers up north. then it turns colder again later tomorrow night and early on saturday, so those rain showers changeover to a little bit of snow. we could see maybe one or two inches in the great northwoods woods and the northern part of the white mountains. there' s a slight chance the

of the snow shower and then it clears out that clears up completely for saturday. then it' s back in the cold zone. 30' s in southern new hampshire. 10-25 in terms of the wind saturday. and again it will be colder with then it will dry out even in the great north woods. sunday after a cold start, breezy and slightly milder. right now monday through wednesday and even a good part of thursday, but very pleasant with temperatures running well above the average of the mid-part of november. with thanksgiving two weeks away , it doesn' t look like the middle of november. we will see what happens. tom: much more coming up in
