>> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 at noon. sean: we' re following breaking developments this noon regarding a u.s. drone strike in syria on one of the world' s most notorious terrorists, the man known as jihadi john. he was the one seen in the gruesome isis videos killing two journalists with new hampshire connections. good afternoon. i' m sean mcdonald. a u.s. official says the airstrike targeted the vehicle believed to be carrying mohammed emwazi. among the victims of jihadi john, new hampshire native james folely and steven sotloff who graduated from kimball union academy in meriden. folely' s mother told abc' s news that this airstrike gives her no abc' s elizabeth hurr tells us why. became the face of evil taunting the world in these brutal terror tapes, is dead. us officials telling abc news, he was killed just before midnight thursday in a drone

for the latest developments. now to new details in the case of a rochester teen who was found dead of a fentanyl overdose in a motel room. this morning, her mother' s boyfriend appeared in court to answer to charges in connection to eve tarmey' s death. wmur' s ray brewer is live in rochester with details. ray: the arraignment for the mother just concluded outside circuit court in rochester. you may be able to see some family members gathered on the sidewalk behind me. she is facing charges in connection with the death of her 17-year-old daughter from an overdose in a rochester motel. she was arraigned this morning on three charges including a class a misdemeanor of and two class b felonies for conspiracy to commit and

each charge carries a maximum of seven years in prison. prior to her arraignment, her boyfriend was appearing in court and we learned more from the paperwork about what authorities believe happened that deadly night. according to court paperwork, mark ross was the first person to discover that 17-year-old eve tarmey was dead. on october 17, the paperwork says that at 3:30 in the morning, ross initially said that he discovered tarmey' s body in the bathroom. later he would tell police tarmey was slumped over the bed of the motel room where he was living along with tarmey and her mother. the affidavit goes on to say that ross, instead of calling 911 immediately, spent time cleaning up the motel room, disposing of needles in a nearby dumpster. the paperwork also says that ross and another woman, later identified as leslie aberle, went to methuen to buy what they thought was heroin, and that tarmey accompanied them. the three were supposed to meet tarmey' s boyfriend but he didn' t show. however, they bought what they thought was two grams of heroin. the paperwork says that when they returned to the motel,

tarrmey was upset so he gave her what he thought was heroin to calm her down. according to toxicology reports, it turned out to be fentanyl, 30 at his arraignment, ross didn' t charged with 5 felonies. one of those felonies is the crime of dispensing controlled that charge is punishable by up to life in prison. as for the third person, leslie, she was arrested down in justice charge. she will eventually be brought back here to rochester. it is unclear whether that will be this afternoon or monday. live in rochester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and others gathered in bedford today in hopes of learning more about what they can do to curb the opioid epidemic. the conference, called scope of pain, was a summit on safely

prescribing opiates for pain. doctors say studies show that a high percentage of heroin addicts first abused pain medicaton. organizers say in order to crack down on the problem, it's just one piece of the puzzle. they talked about individualizing each prescription by assessing if the patient would even benefit from it, and what there risk of opiod addiction is. a manchester man wanted in connection to a shooting has been arrested in new york city. u.s. marshals arrested david chase rondon in the bronx. last month, neighbors reported hearing shots near enright park. a short time later, a 25-year-old man was dropped off at the emergency room. he had been shot in the foot. a manchester man is facing robbery charges, after police say he attempted to steal a bottle of wine from a gas it happened just before 8:00 last night at the gulf express on main street. police 29-year-old justin small pushed both clerks as they tried to confront him. a witness jumped in to help, grabbing small and restraining

a new embarrassment for the secret service after one of their own was busted in a sex sting involving a minor. secret service officer lee robert moore is expected to appear in a delaware court today for a preliminary hearing. the 37-year-old is accused of trying to solicit a teenage girl for sex and sending obscene images and texts. and according to a federal complaint, he was engaging in these online chats while on the job at the white house. he was caught in a sting operation by an undercover police detective who was posing as 14-year-old girl. new developments this noon in the case against a former subway pitchman. prosecutors are pushing for the maximum sentence of 12 years and 7 months for jared fogle. he will be sentenced next thursday for child pornography and traveling across state lines to engage in sex with a minor. his lawyers are asking the judge for leniency reducing the sentence to 5 years. campbell soup company is

for the rest of us, sunshine tomorrow afternoon and a pretty brisk wind again playing out of the north us -- northwesterly direction. a cold start, but through the afternoon, a good deal of sunshine. temperatures about five or six degrees warmer. then a moderating trend as this entire area of low pressure heads northeast. we eventually get an area of high pressure. 50' s for most of us out there this afternoon. switching over to makes showers overnight. tomorrow morning, leftover and the white mountains. from there, warming trends mid 50' s through next week. a good deal of sunshine with the next system not arriving until thursday or friday. sean: let' s corner.

in the 1940' s, charles liggett seeds. he wanted an economical, hard, storing squash. it is tough to peel them and it' s tough to cut. so i am going to give you an approach called roasted whole. you take your entire squash, a little oil, pierce it a couple of times to create some vent holes, and throw it in the oven for an hour and a half. i think it enhances the flavor. it caramelize is it. you let it cool for about half an hour. you can do this for your dinner meal, and then simply you just -- >> get the seeds out of there. >> which is really the chore when it'
