>> this is the manchester police department. we have a search warrant for your residence. sean: a dramatic scene. developing this morning, they arrested a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in the queen city earlier this month. as you can see, officers searched a home on dartmouth street overnight. erin: this comes more than two weeks afterthe death of michael pittman. ray brewer live with more on the arrest and the investigation. ray: police have not released the man's name, just saying he was a person of interest wanted in connection with the shooting death of michael pittman back on november 3rd. now late yesterday afternoon investigators released a picture of the man that was taken from surveillance video at an area convenience store. he was later taken in to custody. manchester police chief confirming to wmur that he was arrested as part of the police action in the area of dartmouth street. once again his name has

it is not clear what charges he may be facing. then late last night police swarmed the home at 63 dartmouth street executing a search warrant. they haven't said what if anything that was found inside. they had previously said the killing of pittman was not random. they was shot in the torso outside of his apartment on granite street. he left behind a wife, 2-year-old daughter, and teenager stepdaughter. once again investigators not releasing the name of the man who was arrested nor saying what connection he has with pittman's death. live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. thanks. manslaughter in vermont new hampshire this officers caught 25-year-old daniel fogg of west townsend, vermont in chesterfield.

he was arrested earlier this week in chesterfield. he faces several here in new hampshire. manslaughter in vermont in connection with a suspected deadly heroin overdose. erin: we are following some breaking news from west africa. about 20 hostages have now been freed from a hotel in the capitol of mali. however about 150 people are still being held. after ten funman stormed the hotel early this morning with guns and grenades. cnn is reporting that they arrived in a diplomatic vehicle. three people have been killed. the military has the hotel surrounded. meanwhile investigators in paris say they have now found a third body in the apartment that police raided earlier this week. they killed the alleged master mind of the attacks there. abc's kenneth moton is following growing concerns about a possible copy cat attack

noon. several other gop hopefuls are here in the granite state campaigning. chris christie, lindsey graham, and john kasich all have stops planned ahead today. erin: remember the dancer that lost part of her leg? this morning, an airline lost her prosthetic. sean: a reunion years in the making span thousands of miles. how the veteran finally got his dog tags back? erin: ahead at 6:30, a warning for anyone out and about. be ware of needles. the now being taken by first responders. it is 6:10.

if you missed it. sean: anything else? i think i've checked off all of the boxes. erin: officials in maine are trying to decide where to build a new high speed toll plaza. after years of deate -- debate, it is going to be built. the plan will affect the fewest amount of people. construction is set to begin in 2017. once that project is on the road, the road will be narrowed. woman in new york city says that she donates dozens of toys every year to help needy kids around christmas time. this year she's going above and beyond. she actually noticed a toy and stationary store that had closed, but had a for rent sign in the window. it was still fully stocked. she reached out to the owner and bought all of the goods. that means she's donating thousands of toys, stuffed animals, and boxes of school supplies to city homeless services.

>> children is always my focus. that's why i realized a lot of foster kids get a lot of used things. i realized that probably a lot of them never had a birthday gift that they actually wanted. erin: the toys have been boxed up. they are going to be distributed in a couple of weeks. carol says she's glad she was able to help out. that is quite a donation. sean: i love the story. the store gets to continue on. kevin: a lot of great stories. we start off with the much needed rain pulling away. a lot of areas picking up over an inch of the needed rainfall. it has been rather dry over the last several months. this is kind of rainfall before the ground freezes for the season not a bad thing. we're going to see it pull away early this morning. for the morning commute and height of the morning commute, the clouds going to some sunshine as the day moves along. the cooler air starts to arrive. looks like give or take

2:00 or 3:00 from west to east. we'll start to see the cooler air rush in. the fairer skies will be around tomorrow. then the chance of a couple of mixed showers or snow showers early sunday giving way to fair skies. there's a look at it again. large slug of moisture slowly navigating eastward and left over for eastern parts of the state with breaks in the overcast back to the west and true clearing through central parts of new york. all of that headed in the steady direction through the day. that leads us to a westerly breeze and more sunshine. a brighter afternoon than the day we start off with temperatures starting the day in the 40's to lower range of the 50's. not far to go to the mid to upper 50's for southern areas of the state. up north, you'll get into the lower range of the 50's before 2:00 or 3:00 when the cooler air starts. we start off mild in the 40's. you can see we are 10-15 degrees warmer than we were yesterday at this time. this is the last of it though. you can see once that warmth moves through later this morning and we get the clearing skies, the cooler air is not far behind.

that will start to slide in later on this afternoon into this evening. it will be around through a good part of the weekend. high temperatures today ranging from 48 to 58 from north to south. and again the cooler air starts to work its way in early to mid an out west. for late afternoon in eastern areas. this is what it will look like by lunchtime today. we're looking at clearer skies across a good part of the state and continuing through the remainder of the afternoon. tonight with clear skies and light winds. we drop back into the 20's to near 30 degrees. all the go for tomorrow. then climbing into the 40's with partial sunshine. a clear start to saturday night. clouds will start drifting in. weak system bumping into the cool air by the time we get toward sunday morning. it could mean a couple of mixed showers and maybe even a couple of light snow showers for western and northern areas. once it goes by, we go back to the fairer skies starting sunday afternoon and continuing what looks like for a good part of next week, including the busy travel day and likely

generals office released surveillance photos of a man they wanted to talk to. now at this point authorities are not releasing the name of the man who was taken in what, if any charges, that he might face. the photos were taken at a convenience store near the scene of the shooting shortly before police say the suspect was arrested outside of a home on dartmouth street. hours later, officers house. >> residents of 63 tappas street. this is the manchester police department. we have a search warrant for your residence. ray: now the officers broke out some windows and busted down the door. after going inside the home, they came back out with a pit pull. the victim in the shooting, 37-year-old michael pittman left behind a wife,

teenager stepdaughter. he died from a gunshot wound to the torso. police say the shooting was not random. once again they have not released the name of the man who was taken into custody nor said what, if any, charges he will face in connection with the shooting. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer, w00r news 9. >> erin: we continue to follow breaking news out of mali. at least 150 people are being held hostage by ten gunman at the raddison hotel in mali's capitol. officials say at least three people have been killed. 20 hostages were released about a half an hour ago. it is not clear why they were freed. we have more details on the breaking situation coming up in a live report from the washington bureau. sean: back here at home, a health alert has been issued. officials say they are finding more and more needles in public places. that's causing a serious public health threat. first responders in

rochester say they are getting calls several times a week from people finding needles in locations all over the city. they are now putting these things, sharps every police cruiser. they are encouraging the they see a syringe. >> most of the time it is in the side of the street. so children could be out playing in these areas and neighborhoods. >> things like hepatitis and hiv could be passed along to some innocent individual. >> we join in the police department to come up with the way to dispose of the needles. sean: this is just the latest move that rochester has taken. rochester police officers were the first in the state to meet all of the requirements to be able to carry and administer narcan, the overdose drug. erin: a rochester mother charged in connection with an overdose death of her teenager daughter was back in court yesterday. a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to hold charges up

a rochester police detective testified she knew her daughter, 17-year-old eve tarmey, was getting heroin from her boyfriend. he testified that've was in the room when three adults shot up. jazzmyn believed her boyfriend was going to give eve heroin as well. >> did she say anything about why she wouldn't want to be in the room at this point? >> she didn't want to see it. she was the mother. she had made a motion, it was like a curtain. she didn't want to see it. erin: the defense argues because the mother doesn't in the room, she had nothing to do with her daughter's deadly overdose. sean: the society for the protection of new hampshire forest has taken its fight to court. a non-profit organization filed a lawsuit yesterday in coos superior court. its concern that some of the transmission lines would cross through land owned by the society. it has not given eversource permission to use it. >> in order for that to

be permitted, they need control of the site. they don't have our permission to build their facility through our washburn family forest and through the frontage that we own under the connecticut river. we're filing the site evaluation committee can't make the determination about property rights. the place that gets to determine in the superior court. sean: eversource released a statement calling the lawsuit irresponsible. they say it is confident it meets the state law. new report shows the increase in the you remember of veterans and homeless families. according to the department of housing, veteran homelessness increased 9.5% between 2011 and may 2015. family homelessness rose 3.4%. on a more positive note, chronic homelessness dropped by about 21%. erin: in the spirit of giving

weekend forecast coming up. sean: let's get back to the breaking news out of mali. a group of gunman is holding at least 150 people hostage after attacking a hotel. at least three people have been killed. let's get right to nikole killion. we understand that president obama has been briefed on this ongoing situation. nikole: that's right. they said that president obama was briefed by his national security advisor, susan rice, by the situation. the u.s. and french embassies have alerted its citizens to shelter in place. ten gunman stormed a adson hotel this morning. they shouted god is great in arabic and opened fire on guard. the assailants are armed holding 100 guests and employees hostage. among those who were trapped although the military commander has said 20 hostages have been free while several others managed to

escape, sean. sean: i know this is all unfolding. what other advice are we getting? what should people do if they have loved ones in that part of the world? nikole: the u.s. embassy has been tweeting out updates. in addition to the shelter in place order, it is telling citizens to contact their families as well as to heed the advice of local media and authorities on the ground. sean: thank you. erin: police in massachusetts have made an arrest in armory in wooster. james walker morales is expected to face a judge today. he was arrested in may on sexual assault charges. he was wearing a monitoring bracelet when he broke in to the armory on saturday night. 16 weapons were stolen. there's no word on whether they were recovered. authorities say bloodstains found inside the armory matched morales' dna.

jared towing -- fogle, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. he was charged with crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors. he was ordered to pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 different victims. a new study found that men tend to eat double the amount of food when on a date with a lady. overeating is a show of prowess. men ate 86% more salad in the company of women. as for the ladies, women dates. but still felt like they overate after the whole thing was said and done. i continue to show my prowess at every meal. ladies are usually talking more. finish. they don't want to appear -- you know, like peggy. sean: you need to show prowess too.

for us out there through the day tomorrow. the cooler air wins out. that starts to arrive 2:00, 3:00, or 4:00. we'll start to note that later today. there's the window of time as the rainfall leaves before the cooler air gets here that temperatures may go up a few more degrees from the milder levels that we were at this morning. a lot of areas in the mid 50's in southern parts of the state. upper 40's back to the west. even there you should be up into the lower 50's. lakes region lower to mid 50's. we start out either side of 40 likely getting into the upper 40's later on this afternoon. i think a good deal of sunshine past 9:00 or 10:00 this morning. those clearer skies eventually later tonight will allow temperatures to drop back into the 20's just about statewide. notice as that rain pulls away, we jump up by a couple of extra degrees only to fall off quickly. 20's for most maybe near the freezing mark. blend of sunshine and clouds tomorrow. temperatures up into the
