>> knowing covers new hampshire like we do. --no one covers new hampshire like we do, wmur at 6:00. steph: tonight, a business owner is coming home to keene, after he was seriously hurt in a horrific boating accident in the caribbean. good evening, i' m stephanie woods. jon binney was hit by a speedboat and dragged underneath. wmur' s mike cronin joins us live from the market he owns. mike: the elm street market is open 7 days a week and when the owner is home, he' s here 7 days a week. he' s your friendly neighborhood grocer who calls himself the captain. he has a long way to go before he' s back behind the register. [laughter] mike: there seems to always be a sense of joy inside the elm street market in keene. sian binney: we' re kind of an old school neighborhood store. mike: but for now the family run business is missing its captain.

he' s also a sailor and often spends time on his sailboat in st. martin. on wednesday, he was heading he was hit by a speedboat. sian binney: the boat was going pretty fast. 10:15 knots which -- pretty fast. mph. mike: his family says the boat eventually stopped when someone on board noticed binney was among his injuries he fractured shattered his pelvis and showed it' s ok and he' ll be ok and that' s where the focus is. terry atwateryeager: it' s we' re very uplifting folk around here, a lot of bantering, a lot of singing to one another, plenty of joy and john brings a lot of that to the table.

the welfare of a minor. steph: sunny skies across the granite state this saturday. you' re taking a live look in portsmouth. it is 39 degrees grid . meteorologist hayley lapoint tells us if the nice weather is here to stay. hayley: a couple of scattered showers are possible. you can see clouds on the way, especially to the north where they are thickest. that will be the case as we go through overnight. look at that system. that is snow. heavy snow. it has moved to chicago in michigan. we will get a couple of showers from this system as it moves through. temperatures have fallen into the 30' s across the state. clouds are on the increase. we will not get as cold as we' ve been in the past--for the past few nights. tomorrow, mostly cloudy.

recent attacks in paris. chris christie. failure everybody, they were planning that thing for awhile and over multiple countries and no one caught them before hand. kristen: during the town hall, christie was questioned about what he would do to fight and put an end to the islamic state known as isis. t worry that isis operatives coming across porus borders, second we need to enhance our intelligence capability. third, we need to make sure we middle east and make them understand we are going to stand with them in the fight against isis. kristen: christie has said he would not allow syrian refugees to come to the united states. while many at the town hall say national security should be a top priority, this man doesn' t agree, but christie says there is no other way. chris christie: if we let people in that we cannot effectively vet, then we are putting at risk your life and his, and as president of the united states , my first job is to protect

his. kristen: christie defended his decision based on his personal experience of september 11, 2001. kristen: my number one priority in this country is to make sure that there is not another generation of widows and orphans that is created because of a terrorist attack on the american homeland. kristen: christie ended his day at the granite state baseball dinner, tomorrow he will attend a house party in bedford. reporting in windham, kc, wmur -- and wind him, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. steph: senator lindsey graham is campaigning with senator john mccain this weekend. he made 5 stops in new hampshire today. the republican presidential candidate started the day in manchester with a meet and greet with the vietnamese-american community. then he stopped in wilmot, franklin, hooksett and bedford. he also has stops planned in manchester, tilton and laconia tomorrow. ohio governor john kasich is also visiting the granite state today. he started the day in berlin with a visit to the androscoggin valley hospital and berlin craft fair.

the republican presidential candidate signed copies of his book stand for something. he also hosted a town hall in berlin and wakefield. kasich wrapped up the day with a house party in dover. hundreds of people lined up outside new horizions in manchester this morning to receive a free thanksgiving meal. the soup kitchen and shelter received the donated meals from a food drive held at six local hannaford supermarkets. volunteers sorted all the boxes and are now helping pass them out to pantry families. the event has been held for more than fifteen years. this year, more than a thousand thanksgiving meals will be given out. >> we are here, we have plenty of help, the community is amazing around here, dozens of volunteers, not to mention the donors and hannaford stores. steph: more meals will also be passed out this tuesday at new horizons from 11 to 2.

incredible to see all that snow. yes, that storm is going to miss us. certainly, they will get none of the heavy snow that areas like chicago and detroit need. this is crossing up into the spring showers to the south, that will eventually impact us once we get into tomorrow morning. it is weakening significantly as it moves towards us. we will only get a couple of raindrops, or couple of snow showers depending on your elevation. here were are temperatures today. with a winter jacket on, it was pleasant. we got up to 49 in concord.

we were a few degrees above where we could be at this time. 39 in claremont. the 30' s. tilton is at 37. in lancaster, it is 30 degrees. it will be a chilly night to the north. that is where temperatures are falling into the 20' s. over the next couple of days, cool air works in. we will be below the average part of the week. the good thing is that on thanksgiving, temperatures will get a little bump. we will be close to 50 degrees when you are chowing down and traveling to and from many of the places where you will be enjoying your thanksgiving meal. we will have clouds increasing. by daybreak tomorrow, it will be mostly cloudy. we will have scattered showers. notice how hit or miss they are and how in the higher elevations

all of this is gone by noon time. we will have a mix of sun and clouds. monday, we are back to sunshine. it will be cooler than.-- then. 20' s up north, 30' s near the border. you can expect 40' s for highs. a couple of rain showers early on in the day. look at this forecast. it is dry. it is sunny. it is a bit cold as we get closer to wednesday and thursday. 50 degrees on thursday for thanksgiving. next weekend, chance of scattered showers on saturday. we want to give a quick shout out to the hampton eighth graders. here they are. we talked all about science, working in tv.

cut backs, 13-0 cats. third quarter, goldrich adds a touchdown scamper, unh goes on to win the brice-cowell muskett, 22-6, that makes the wildcats record 7-and-4, tomorrow we will find out if that' s good enough to make the fcs playoffs. dartmouth earned a share of the ivy league title today. the big green beat the princeton tigers 17-10. dalen williams through the hot game winning touchdown to-- only the third time in high the league history to three schools have finished tied for first-- ivy league history that three schools have finished tied for first. state football championships are tomorrow. this week we stopped at all six high school football practices for the teams that will play for a title. and here' s the final team we need to talk about, the newport tigers.

last year newport lost in the , state championship game to campbell. but this year came back even stronger. the tigers are unbeaten as they head to durham. their last state championship was 2010. >> it' s an exciting game. they are good on both sides of the ball. it is a case of making the fewest mistakes. >> they are good team, competitive you' d . here are the championship matchups. jim: here are the championship matchups set for sunday, all at cowell stadium. first at 11:00 a.m division three title game between newport and inter-lakes-moultonborough. 2:30 p.m. is the projected start time for division two, windham versus saint thomas. that' s followed by a 6:00 p.m. showdown for division one, goffstown taking on exeter. meanwhile today new hampton , football won the nepsac ken o' keefe new england championship bowl over hamden, 48-26. switching gears to the granite state baseball dinner.

tonight, the radisson hotel expo center hosted the annual fundraiser. a fun event featuring some big names in the local baseball scene, both current and former. fans and others directly benefiting from the auctions and donations enjoyed the event. money raised goes toward children' s hospital at dartmouth-hitchcock, the fisher cats foundation and the ted williams museum. >> it has always been a great event. raising money for great causes in new hampshire, that' s what it' s all about. it is a great time to talk about baseball. help out as much as we can. whatever i can do to do my part, i am all for. >> you come out and you see passionate fans. re also helping kids on the way.
