ray: police are searching for a longtime friend of julian squyres. they think that friend is the killer. the woman was hogtied and wrapped in a blanket when she was found. fernando a lens -- owens is believed to have killed her. >> cell phone records indicate that squireses were in the area when bridgewater police received the phone call. ray: they also face charges dating back to 1999. the focus is on finding fernando armed and dangerous.

erin: tilton police are looking for a man they say stole nearly $2500 worth of baby formula. you can see the man in these surveillance pictures. officers say he stole more than 150 cans from walmart during two trips over the weekend. he also tried to steal product franklin. in laconia, police say two men pulled up to a boy walking home from school and that they yelled at him and the driver pointed a gun at him. they say the driver was wearing a black hoodie and had a pockmarked face. the car is described as red with black trim with an emblem looking like stars on the trunk. sean: hundreds of protesters filled the streets in chicago last night. police released a video of an

officer shooting a black teenager 16 times. the video is graphic and we will not show you the actual moment of the teen was shot. stephanie romo' s reports. stephanie: the windy city on edge. protests after the city released this dashcam video, which shows 17-year-old laquan mcdonald walking away from officers before being shot by officer vandyke. >> it is graphic, violent, and chilling. it is deeply disturbing. stephanie: the video tearing at the hearts of chicagoans. now that van dyke is charged, documented details are unfolding. police received a call about a

suspect armed with a knife breaking into cars. within 10 minutes, officers find mcdonald walking down the street holding that knife. the prosecutor says within six seconds van dyke opened fire, shooting all 16 rounds from his nine millimeter gun. mcdonald falls to the ground almost instantly and died soon after. officer van dyke kept firing his gun even after the teen collapsed. >> this is not a murder case. despite what you heard in the courtroom. stephanie: what is seen in the video has city officials and mcdonald' s family urging calm. chicago is just the latest city dealing with fallout from shootings involving police officers. erin: the man who pled guilty to his role in a deadly crash that killed his girlfriend says that

robert pitts is serving 5-10 years after pleading guilty in 2013 to several charges, including negligent homicide. his family says they have found of a recall due to problems with the ignition switch that could cause the engine to shut off. an expert testified about the problems that could create. >> you would lose your power steering. with the brakes, if you pump them more than a few times, you would not have the opportunity to use -- you would have the opportunity, but it would be much more difficult to apply your brakes. erin: he also added that the airbag would not deploy. under cross-examination, he said that this failure did not cause the car to go off the road. sean: a massive effort is underway to find the woman -- the person who kicked a woman' s

kevin: it is wednesday morning, november 25. we are setting up for a chilly start to the day. we are looking at 3-5 degrees milder than yesterday. we are looking at light winds for your traveling conditions. some big changes for the holiday weekend. sean: a beautiful moon out there overnight. the annual toys for tots program is underway and the toys are already starting to pile up. erin: the campaign kicked off yesterday at the mall of new hampshire. they typically provide 60,000-80,000 toys for kids ranging from infants to 17 years old. there are drop-off locations around the state. >> please donate. there are children that need help and there are families that need help. it makes you feel good. it makes you feel good to help people. erin: the greatest need is typically toys for children 13 years old and up.

we have a list of drop-off locations on wmur.com. the toy drive goes until december 13. sean: thanksgiving is tomorrow and several local restaurants are preparing delicious holiday feast they will serve for free. penuche' s grill in manchester has 26 turkeys and all the fixings ready to go when they open their doors from 9:00 until noon tomorrow. restaurants in somersworth and newmarket are offering free meals, as well. one man who went to the windmill when he had nowhere else to go said that thanksgiving changed his life. >> the gave me a job working and i' ve moved on since. they gave me a new beginning in life. sean: john will return to the windmill this year, but he will be joining the growing group of volunteers. erin: that is a great story.

americans are hitting the roads for the long thanksgiving weekend. worst traffic. on the roads. sunday afternoon will be home. sean: thanksgiving started a little early at the new england aquarium. the menu likely looks a little different than yours. myrtle, the 80-year-old green sea turtle, got her meal of brussels sprouts and squid -- her favorite snack. she happily munched away. she loves brussels sprouts. [laughter] sean: high school students from the project smart program at unh are learning about the environment in a really interesting way. they launched a high-altitude balloon that took two hours to reach the edge of space at

the balloon burst and the payload was recovered in maine. apparently, when you are up there studying that, you get some incredible views. erin: amazing. they are doing real research that will be used. kevin: there was a project where they launched a balloon, as well as one on the west coast last saturday to see if there was a difference in radiation. erin: that is what this is from. kevin: pretty amazing stuff. lots of sunshine expected and it will be milder into the afternoon. that puts you in the upper 30' s in parts of the north country even though you start in the teens to mid 40' s in the southern spots. not as cold later on tonight. we will drop into the 20' s and 30' s, which denotes progress. it will be even milder with the clouds around on friday.

the charges come after a body was found along railroad tracks in massachusetts. they are accused of being involved in the disposal of that body. ray: sean, not only were the charges upgraded, but investigators believe the couple knows the motive behind the 29-year-old victim' s death. police issued an arrest warrant for longtime friend of julian squires, who they believe is the killer. >> state police investigators follow the evidence from bridgewater to dorchester and onto new hampshire. ray: the body of 29-year-old ashley bortner was found three weeks ago along railroad tracks in bridgewater, massachusetts. the victim was found in a burning car, wrapped in a blanket, and hog-tied. investigators believe 43-year-old fernando owens killed her, believed she was

is allowed to get -- alstead is allowed to get her medical marijuana id card because she suffers from stage four cancer before the dispensaries open. linda horan is now able to get medical marijuana since the dispensaries have been designated. erin: three men have been sentenced. authorities say robert costello and kyle hurley worked together to manufacture and distribute spice bearing the names "scooby snax" and "bizarro." they were arrested after officers. years in prison. hurley was sentenced to nine years. a third man was also sentenced for helping distribute the products. sean: we are learning new details about a multicar crash in manchester.

erin: hayley lapoint explains the difference between storm watches and storm warnings. hayley: when storms are in the forecast, you will often hear about winter weather advisory' s and winter storm watches and warnings area did these are put out by the national weather repaired for what may lie ahead confusing. what is a watch? is that worse than a warning? we get these questions every year. i' m here to set the record straight. winter storm watches are a heads up a good 24-48 hours before a winter storm will begin. a watch is intended to provide lead time before a storm. winter storm warnings are put out when a winter storm is
