today is one of the busiest travel days of the year. aaa expects nearly 47 million americans to travel this thanksgiving. and good news for drivers, gas prices are expected to be at its lowest on this holiday period since 2008. the forecast is much better than we faced a year ago at this time. we begin our team coverage with meteorologist kevin skarupa. kevin: 10 inches of snow last year, a high of 52, 55 tomorrow. an enormous difference. few clouds out there. otherwise, lots of blue sky. 20' low and mid 40' s across a good part of the state. it is the only system we contend holiday weekend.

s grill in manchester. we are surrounded by turkeys here. chuck kalantzis: i' ve been called a turkey before, but it' s definitely not that, yeah, we' ve got 26 turkeys that i am getting ready for thursday. jean: along with all the fixings -- 100 pounds of potatoes, 75 pounds of squash, cranberry sauce, green beans and pumpkin pie will also be on the menu. this is the 7th year penuche' s serves up free thanksgiving 9 to >> i open the doors at 9:00, we have a line, and we feed whoever wants to come in. jean: other restaurants in nh new hampshire are also offering free meals like old rail pizza in somersworth and jeremy' s in newmarket is hosting at the jr. sr. high school. here at the windmill family restaurant in concord, they' ve been doing this since 1990. zach st. hilaire: well we' ve had more volunteers and we' ve been getting pies, we' ve been getting turkeys, we' ve been getting cranberry sauce.

jean: the windmill thanksgiving tradition was started by owner louis smirnoudis. he passed away in recent years, but his family continues his welcoming ways. john dora came here when he had nowhere else to go. that thanksgiving changed his life. john dora: they gave me a job and stuff like that, here working, and i moved on since, but they gave me, like, a new beginning in life. jean: john will return this thanksgiving, volunteering to serve others.
