>> 3 million people are expected to line the streets of manhattan in a few hours for the macy's thanksgiving day parade and the balloons are ready to fly, look at them. beautiful sight. have a great thanksgiving. erin: now on daybreak, thanksgiving has arrived. that means some busy roads. there are concerns that airports and train stations. kevin: extra clouds around, but turning milder today. erin: the investigation into hundreds of cans of stolen baby formula in the lakes region is growing with police in three towns looking for the same man. a huge community effort is finally done in plymouth. the new high school ski jump is ready for use. >> no one covers new hampshire like we do.

erin: good morning, new hampshire. happy thanksgiving. thanks for waking up with us. i' m erin fehlau. it looks like we are in for some great weather out there for today' s holiday. there is really no snow in the forecast, is there? kevin: it is a completely different forecast than last year. more than half the people up probably have a turkey in the oven. we are starting with a partly cloudy sky that has kept temperatures up a bit. this is part of a warming trend that lasts through tomorrow, where temperatures will be up into the 50' s engineer 60 -- and near 60. high temperatures today anywhere from 46 to 54 with a breeze out of the south. we will have much more on the

forecast coming up. erin: firefighters are on the scene right now of a two alarm fire in dover. crews were called to an apartment building at 29 new york street. there is no word as to what caused that fire. we are not aware of any injuries. we are told that several animals were taken out of that building and the red cross is now responding. across the country, turkeys are cooking. many people are getting ready to spend the day with family and friends. while the last two days were the busiest travel days, the roads could be busy today. andy hershberger is live along interstate 93. happy thanksgiving, andy. andy: happy thanksgiving, erin. state transportation officials say that today will be a busy day on the road. last year nearly 250,000 people hit the road for thanksgiving

and that was a state record. aaa predicts more than 42 million americans will drive more than 52 miles from home. people were streaming north toward the white mountains, the north country, and vermont yesterday. the average price of a gallon of gas in new hampshire is $2.07 this year. while traffic was heavy last night, there were no serious backups or problems. >> not bad, actually. we will see what happens in vermont. >> there was a lot of traffic earlier. >> double your usual time? >> already. >> we are having a really great drive. andy: the roads could be busy this morning with people gathering for dinner. tonight, you can expect more traffic, especially around malls and stores. several malls open at 6:00 p.m. to get an early start on that black friday shopping. reporting live, andy hershberger.

you might notice extra security train today. malls. that is due to security concerns after the attacks in paris less than two weeks ago. stephanie: good morning. millions of americans are planning to head out for the holidays. they will face intense screening and longer security lines. president obama says officials are working overtime and without a break for the holidays to keep americans safe. president obama: we know of no specific credible intelligence indicating a plot on the homeland. stephanie: with millions of americans expected to travel, the president tried to decrease fears. president obama: i want the american people to know we are taking every possible step to keep our homeland safe.

police officers at airports and train stations. it is a reinforcement of existing security. the macy' s thanksgiving day parade floats and balloons prepped for the big strut down city streets with thousands of officers set to patrol the streets. the nypd says, enjoy the parade while they do their job to protect. >> we have to stand our ground, continue with our lives, continue going about our business. stephanie: a worldwide travel alert issued by the state department is still in effect. no matter where you go, you can expect security to be tighter. stephanie ramos, abc news. erin: a man is in critical condition this morning after a stabbing in manchester. police were called to veterans park yesterday evening and found a man with several stab w ounds.

a new market man faces several charges after police say he was running an illegal taxi service in hampton. 44-year-old michael heath used his service called mike' s rides to sell drugs to an undercover officer and drive an undercover officer posing as a prostitute. at least three police departments are looking for the man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of baby formula in the lakes region. laconia police say this man stole 100 cans of formula from walmart on sunday worth nearly $1600. police say it is the same man we told you about yesterday who stole 4500 worth of -- $2500 worth of baby formula in chilton. a manchester man convicted of robbing the td bank in manchester in march has been

-- 6.5 years in prison and that he must pay back the money he stole. the owner of a water park in candia has climbed down from one of his waterslides after two and a half weeks. liquid planet is set to be sold at auction soon. earlier this month, kevin dumont chained himself to one of the waterslides hoping to attract investors. yesterday, he gave up his attempt. he has not raised the money he needed and his doctor thinks he is developing pneumonia. work on the new ski jump at plymouth regional high school has been completed and it will soon be in use. the community rallied to support and build a new job after the old one was torn down after safety concerns. -- over safety concerns. the final touches on the new

erin: police in boston have arrested a man they say was making and selling fake patriots tickets. sean phipps bought a couple of tickets on craigslist to take his son who has cerebral palsy, but the tickets were rejected at the gate and sean phipps spent a tickets at the gate. he worked with police to find the online seller. new york man for quite some time.

festivities today. a year ago, it was a far different picture. tens of thousands of granite staters spent the holiday without power. several people have shared pictures on u local flashing back to thanksgiving 2014. it certainly was a holiday to remember. didn' t you lose power at your house? kevin: we had chinese food on thanksgiving evening. although, i did have a can of cranberry sauce out. we usually travel for thanksgiving. we did not have any food ready to go. with the power out, you do what you can. it was a thanksgiving to remember. erin: how did it go with the pork fried rice? kevin: the cranberry sauce -- it is a lot better with the turkey. [laughter] kevin: let' s leave it at that. we start off with temperatures in the 30' s in parts of the state.

it is the beginning of a little bit of a milder stretch for the first half of the holiday weekend. we get into the second half of the holiday weekend and things start to cool off a bit. breezy today with sunshine starting to weed its way in. tomorrow, 50' s statewide. the couple southern spots could try to reach near 60. cooler temperatures much closer to the average after that with a blend of sunshine and clouds for the actual weekend itself. the clouds should gradually mix out to partial sunshine. there are other high clouds back to the west. any overcast skies this morning should gradually give way to partial sunshine in quite a few areas. that is the weather-maker for the holiday weekend. behind that will be the cooler air. ahead of that will be the warmest of the days for the day tomorrow.

the teens right in northern spots. temperatures in the 30' s in southern spots. there is the surge of warmth that will be around tomorrow. the drop in temperature that comes in behind that. i temperatures today, 46-54 from north to south. by late in the day, we are expecting at least marshall sunshine across -- partial sunshine across the state. it is late in the day tomorrow up north that we will start to see the showers move in. the best chance of a shower will be after 8:00 or 9:00 in southern areas. any clouds early saturday giving way to partly sunny skies and mostly sunny skies for sunday, a great way to travel home from

after he told a group of drivers and students that he would shoot them if he hit their car -- if they hit his car. i get to be here and not ruin the turkey at home. [laughter] with that. we are looking at great weather for the holiday. kevin: this is infinitely better than last year. we start off with quite a few clouds from overnight, but we give way to partial sunshine and we will edge up by several degrees. we are talking within a few degrees of 50 this afternoon with a front approaching tomorrow evening. you notice a lot of lower and mid 30' s for southern areas. clouds early give way to brakes of sunshine. much more on your holiday weekend forecast which has a warm day and one shower chance coming up in just a bit. erin: many people will be hitting the roads today to get to their thanksgiving destinations. we do have a live look at one lonely car out there on 93 in windham.

not many cars out there right now. traffic is expected to pick up as the day moves on. andy hershberger joins us live along 93 in hooksett. everybody out there. aaa estimates that about 47 million people across the country will be traveling more than 50 miles or more this holiday weekend and 42 million of those will be traveling by road. many people were stopping by the hooksett tolls rest stop on i-93 on wednesday as they headed family. bill boyden says because gas is just an average of $2.07 in the trips. >> because the gas prices are lot to do with why people are and it does help us. prices down.

andy: the state department issued a worldwide travel alert on monday. president obama said there is no specific, credible threat to the u.s. homeland. travelers flying into the manchester-boston regional airport say the security lines were just as long as they usually are. >> security seemed to be relaxed, thoreau, but i appreciate them doing what they are doing. it is scary times. >> i hate flying, so i' m always nervous, but we had not been following the news the last few days, so just not thinking about it. andy: on the roads, thursday could still be a travel day. -- busy travel day. according to the new hampshire dot, there were 248,000 people on the roads on thanksgiving day 2014. that was a state record. there is not a lot of traffic out here right now that will likely -- right now. that will likely change by the

end of the day. moles will open this evening so people can -- malls will open this evening so people can get a jump on the holiday shopping. erin: a nursing assistant has permanently lost his license to practice in new hampshire after he allegedly sexually assaulted an 80-year-old woman in his care. it allegedly took place at the bel air nursing and rehab center in goffstown. the attorney general' s office says the elderly victim has alzheimer' s and dementia. according to testimony, another nursing assistant found timothy morrissey doing something inappropriate with the woman and told him to stop. when questioned, he said, you know what you saw and this is the most embarrassing thing in my life. initially, the nursing board temporarily suspended his license, but has decided to permanently revoke it. >> if they were going to revoke someone' s license, the opportunity, the door remains

open in the future for someone to get their license back. for them to permanently revoke is an unusual result. erin: we stopped by timothy morrissey' s home, but we were unable to reach him. no criminal charges have been filed. a man wanted in new hampshire for allegedly hitting a police officer with a stolen car has been arrested. on tuesday, nashua police went to represent --arrest 28-year-old maurice dejesus. officers reported that he was driving a car that was stolen. he drove off, hitting an officer in the arm. he led officers on a chase through several towns before he was finally captured. a former teaching assistant at a school in concord has been indicted on multiple accounts -- counts of sexual assault. he is accused of sexually assaulting a student at the shaker road school and

in 2013-2014. donald levesque resigned from the school a year and a half ago. the st. paul' s graduate found guilty of sexually assaulting a student is appealing his conviction. the appeal was filed one day after owen labrie' s name was added to the sex offender registry. they say the charge never should have been a client -- applied to him in the first place. he will remain free pending the outcome of his appeal. the rochester man convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a madbury teen is also appealing his conviction. tristan wolusky was found guilty of killing 18-year-old aaron wilkinson. zachary pinette and michael tatum played guilty to second-degree murder in exchange

for their testimony against tristan wolusky. his attorney said the men lied on the stand and that their medical evidence. they also say zachary pinette and michael tatum were subjected trial and those tests were scrutinized by experts. >> he renewed the polygraph results of zachary pinette and michael tatum and came to the conclusion that they were deceptive during the course of the polygraph. erin: attorney mark sisti says the attorney general objected to a hearing on the matter of the polygraph tests. a manchester man is facing charges after police say he threatened some drivers and students with a gun. three students and their teacher were approached by a man

identified as joseph duven. he allegedly threatened to shoot the people in the car if they hit his vehicle. >> they observed the handgun strapped to his hip. the instructor did the right thing and told them to leave they called us. erin: he was arrested on charges including four counts of criminal threatening. the u.s. forest service is restoring $400,000 in funding for the mylan community forest project -- milan community forest project. the project will create a new 1300-acre forest. the forest will serve as an outdoor recreation area and harvesting. a new survey says that new places to live in the u.s. social and economic measures s

s chairlift incident at sugarloaf. the lift started going backward, but an anti-rollback device failed to engage. sugarloaf replaced the mechanics of that lift. an indiana man has been sentenced to one year behind bars after pleading guilty to stealing brains from a museum. 23-year-old david charles broke into the indiana medical history museum several times to steal jars of human brain tissue to sell them. he was arrested in 2013 after a san diego man who bought six jars of brain material on ebay alerted police. a store in boston' s chinatown has been shut down after it was selling counterfeit and stolen items.

erin: what a wonderful story. turning to sports, the boston bruins took on the red wings in detroit last night. this one went to overtime and here is how the bruins were able to win it. colin merrill -- colin miller set up the goal. they host the rangers tomorrow. the 76ers played the celtics last night. a great season. former tilton school star merlins nole played for philly. the 76ers were up by seven points at the half, but boston went on to win the game. the 76ers have now lost 26 straight games dating back to last year. the first annual turkey day dash to the sea is being held on the seacoast today. it starts at hampton academy

kevin: no, i don' t think it would. clouds early give way to partial sunshine. it should be a milder afternoon. temperatures should be within three or four degrees of 50. that is a huge difference from last year, when we were digging out of snowfall. it should be an even milder friday. eventually, a couple showers move through late friday evening, early saturday, which will bring in the cooler air for the weekend. anywhere along and south of the white mountains this morning, we have clouds out there. there will be a little bit of a southerly breeze. clouds, sunny breaks today. at the same time, some extra high clouds back to the west head of the front. until friday evening. -- the front does not move
