m erin fehlau. all across the country turkeys are cooking or already on the thanksgiving table. we have a live look outside, beautiful weather we are seeing to kick off the holiday weekend. our team coverage contends with meteorologist kevin skarupa. kevin: it looks like through tomorrow, we kind of split the holiday weekend with the first two being much milder thanks to a westerly breeze as we take the edge off the milder air. by the time we get to later friday night and early saturday, that dividing line will eventually be our only chance of showers anywhere through the holiday weekend. it looks excellent for travel purity looks more daunting to our west. and temperatures anywhere from the upper range of the 40' s to the lower range of the 50' s, and for a lot of folks, 50' s tomorrow before that front eventually arrives. erin: all right, kevin, thank you. many families have turkey day traditions before sitting down

for a big feast. thousands laced up their sneakers for a 5k here in manchester, while across the city it was time for some high school football. wmur' s andy hershberger is live at gill stadium. andy: for most people, today of course turkey will at some point be on the menu, but this is really a day for family and friends and traditions old and new. manchester mayor ted gatsas pulled the trigger on the starter pistol that began the fisher cats thanksgiving 5k race. 2400 runners weaved their way through the streets of the city in what has become a yearly tradition. keith mercier: it looks like a lot of fun, and my daughter told me i had to. she' s the big runner. i' m just the guy that falls behind her. norton compton: it has been a tradition of mine for about 30 years, and there really is no better way to start a thanksgiving holiday than getting a little honest exercise and working up a good appetite.

reporting live in manchester, i am andy hershberger, wmur news 9. erin: all right, andy, thank you so much. along the seacoast, the annual portsmouth turkey trot hit full stride this morning. look at those runners work off the calories before they sit down to eat. i like the hats, too. speaking of thanksgiving traditions, giant floats made their way down the streets of new york city for the annual macy' s day parade. with record crowds, security was tight. 2500 officers stationed along the route, but there are also tightened security measures in effect nationwide. abc' s lana zak has more. lana: thanksgiving traditions from turkey pardons in d.c. -- pres. obama: it is hard to believe that this is my seventh year of pardoning a turkey. time flies, even if turkeys don' lana: to the macy' s thanksgiving day parade, and through it all, com. bratton: we' ve increased the number of officers. i think we will have the largest

s top security officials in washington, there is no specific, credible threat anywhere in the united states, something to be grateful for this thanksgiving. lana zak, abc news, washington. erin: now to a chaotic scene at fenway park. people were sent running after gunshots were fired outside a bar on yawkey way. police say one person was killed and three others were hurt. all are men in their 20' s. people attending today' s thanksgiving day football games were only allowed to enter the ballpark through one gate as the investigation continued. one person was sent to the hospital after a two-alarm fire overnight in dover. firefighters were called to the four-unit apartment building on new york street just before 3:00 a.m. they were able to contain the flames to one apartment and say the fire started in the kitchen. they also rescued several animals from the building, including a dog that was hanging out of a second story window. the person taken to the hospital , we are told, is said to be ok. a stabbing in manchester' s veterans park is under investigation. police were called to the park

yesterday afternoon and found a man with several stab wounds that were considered critical. it is not clear what lead up to the stabbing or if anyone has been charged. tom brady is winning the hearts of granite staters this holiday season for something he did off the field for one nashua woman. jaclyn spotts is in a boston hospital this thanksgiving with a heart condition, and doctors don' t know how much longer she has to live. she posted a picture on facebook reaching out to her favorite patriots player tom brady. his response is one this family will never forget. tom brady: hi, jaclyn. happy thanksgiving. i want to say thank you for your kindness and your support, and thank you. amy spotts: tom brady, thank you so much. you have no idea how happy you made my family and my little sister. erin: the spotts family says

erin: moving now to the situation in chicago. protesters again took to the streets overnight. and they are now threatening to disrupt black friday shopping. this all as new video has just being released showing a white officer chase a black teen before shooting him 16 times. abc' s scott goldberg has the latest details. scott: the new images come from the policeman' s squad car taken during the fatal incident. right here, you can see the 17-year-old crossing in front of vandyke' s suv, carrying what appears to be a knife. 30 seconds after spotting the

teen, the policeman gets out of the car and shoots the fleeing teen 16 times in 15 seconds. we will not show you the entire video. we are also learning more about vandyke' s past with the police department. according to civilian watchdog group invisible institute, citizens filed at least 20 complaints against him since he joined the force in 2001, including allegations of using excessive force and racial slurs. but so far, vandyke was not disciplined. abc news has confirmed 18 complaints. president obama weighing in overnight, posting on facebook, "i was deeply disturbed by the footage, and i' m grateful to the people of my hometown for keeping protests peaceful." >> shut it down. scott: the video sent shockwaves across chicago. demonstrators took to the streets last night. some were arrested for ripping lights off a city christmas tree. and now they are vowing to disrupt holiday shopping. many are critical of local authorities who investigated the case for nearly a year before charging vandyke with first degree murder. dr. finney: the state'

up near 30 degrees with a breeze at around 30, 40 miles an hour at the present time. you will notice again the occasional overcast. mid-level clouds as well as high clouds drifting in from the west. these will continue to rotate through the state between now and 2:00, 3:00 this afternoon, so just about everyone is getting in a little bit of sunshine along with the clouds that we have out there this afternoon. temperatures above the average come in the upper 40' s, lower half of the 50' s. this next system back to our west does not really right until the north country is sometime later tomorrow afternoon. by the time it gets here, a lot of this moisture will try to start running out. it still proves to be our only chance of any precipitation between now and probably tuesday afternoon of next week. still near 40 up near berlin right now. they had temperatures in the teens overnight, so taking a little longer there. anywhere from the lower half of the 40' s and the central valley that hang onto the cooler air longer because you do not have

you can go back and use a kohl' s later on. clothes are not the best deals to get on black friday, but i did find boots. $80 boots for $20 that kohl' s, macy' s, jcpenney, so that is a huge deal. you have kids -- toys is huge on the list. i say stick to toys "r" us. 40% off on great major toys you can get this year. stop if you have to get a lot of toys. erin: some other stores -- sears and walmart. what you finding? kim: sears has great doorbuster prices on their washer, dryer, refrigerators. one of their refrigerators, they are knocking $1500 off for black friday. my kids would not like that, but if i need one, that is the time i would get it. they also have good deals on televisions, too. black friday at walmart this year, i like some of their deals, but i did find their
