the victim says the men were inside when he got home. ray brewer is live in durham with reaction from that victim. ray: good morning. bryan hoch berg thought the house was empty, instead he was confronted by three masked men with guns. he said they ran up the basement stairs pointing their guns at him. they held him for 45 minutes while they filled bags with everything they could find. he says it was terrifying. >> they started leading me through the house, door-to-door. they would kick in a door. one of them would stand in the doorway, put me on the ground, as the other two worse -- two

erin: there are several new parking spots in brooklyn, new york that are designed for dogs. the founder of dog parker is installing temporary dog kennels outside of businesses that do not allow dogs inside. users have membership cards that open the kennel doors. so far, about 50 people have signed up for that service. ski season is underway, but a popular mountain in maine is closed. saddleback is still looking for a new buyer. they announced in negotiations two months ago. managers still hope to open at some point this season. two other mountains in maine are offering discounted passes.

the victim was found near his cab in the parking lot of a park and was pronounced dead at the hospital. police have surveillance video from a gas station where he picked up a fair before he was killed. police are looking for two young males between the ages of 14 and 18. a family in louisiana is limning a hoverboards for sparking a fire at their home. she says that he plugged the hoverboards in to recharge it and moments later, she watched it explode. >> both wheels, it was like a firework, like you just lit a firework. before i could yell, "the houses on fire," the middle part went into flames. >> when it happened, i couldn' t believe it. it was hard to put it out. it was pretty big.

look at that. right off the street. two vans rise, one after the other. then a car heading in the opposite direction also jumps. it turns out the cause had nothing to do with magic or the weather. a steel cable that got caught on a sanitation vehicle is actually what tripped up the cars. if you can believe it. kind of crazy video. look at that. kevin: i initially thought earthquake. erin: kind of wild. kevin: yeah. erin: there was no magician. kevin: hopefully, you don' t encounter something like that on your morning commute. erin: hopefully not. kevin: single digits, teens to lower 20' s early this morning. clear skies initially. that is going to change gradually as the next system edges in. it will mean some showers around this afternoon.

the best chances will be in southwestern areas. with temperatures cool enough initially, there may be sheltered valleys that are not sufficiently above the freezing mark when it arrives, so there could be patchy areas that see a little bit of freezing rain. later tonight, temperatures may cool in extreme northern parts of the state. again, a good 80-90% of the precipitation from this system through thursday morning will likely be in the form of rain shower activity. it is as the system pulls away that the northern half or third of the state may see it go over to wet snowflakes before wrapping up. the warm spot, as we mentioned, is mount washington.
