the best chances will be in southwestern areas. with temperatures cool enough initially, there may be sheltered valleys that are not sufficiently above the freezing mark when it arrives, so there could be patchy areas that see a little bit of freezing rain. later tonight, temperatures may cool in extreme northern parts of the state. again, a good 80-90% of the precipitation from this system through thursday morning will likely be in the form of rain shower activity. it is as the system pulls away that the northern half or third of the state may see it go over to wet snowflakes before wrapping up. the warm spot, as we mentioned, is mount washington.
