santa? >> absolutely. >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now wmur news 9 at 5:00. josh: the shooting that killed 14 people in san bernardino is investigation. authorities have revealed evidence that the woman is loyal to isis. good evening, i'm josh mcelveen. shelley: i'm shelley walcott. an official said the woman suspected of helping her husband carry out the mass murder posted a message on facebook declaring allegiance to isis. josh: investigators can't say whether the terror group played a role in the direct planning of the san bernardino shooting or if the couple acted independently. let go to abc's brandi hitt for the latest live in california. reporter: this is the biggest break yet in the search for a motive. law enforcement sources tell us at least one of the shooters had pledged support for isis and now

a terrorism investigation. an attack inspired by isis. sources tell abc news the wife of sid frook, tashfeen malik, pledged her allegiance to isis on social media using an alias just minutes into the attack. >> we are now investigating these horrific acts an an act of terrorism. reporter: the f.b.i. says it heads has no evidence that isis directed the attack that left 14 people dead. >> we are going through a very evidence. this is electronic evidence that these killers tried to destroy and tried to conceal from us. reporter: new video from inside the killers' home shows it ransacked by authorities, clothe and personal items left behind, a crib for their 6-month-old daughter. they also left some 6100 round of ammunition and 12 unexploded

shelley: in other news, a man seen on surveillance video leaving a suspicious device in boston is now facing charges of planting a hoax device. he was arrested late this afternoon in lawrence. the area around atlantic and northern avenues was blocked off just before 10:00 this morning after a suitcase was found next to a homeland security vehicle. an x ray showed the suitcase had had had wires and a power source inside. the bomb squad used a robot to blow up the device. the remnants of the bag included clothes and some wires. josh: the state medical examiner has just identified the man who was killed in an early morning fire it a concord apartment building. 60-year-old kevin curty died from smoke inhalation. ray brewer spoke to neighbors who say the victim was trapped by the fast moving flames. reporter: the call came into the fire department at 3:24 in the morning, reporting smoke in the building at 96 rumford street in concord. a woman who lives across the

sound. >> neighbors actually screaming because they knew somebody was still in the building. reporter: audrey says she went to her front door and saw the building ablaze. >> it was engulfed on the first floor. sparks flying everywhere, because power was still on. >> upon our arrival at 3:29 fire was flowing out of the windows on the first floor and extending to the second floor. reporter: the fire chief says firefighters tried to enter the building and rescue the man, but the fire was too intense. officials say there were eight out. >> the fire occurred in a lower floor unit where the, there is one victim. reporter: the other seven made it out safely. >> there was smoke detectors in the hallway which did go off from smoke that was coming into the hall, which definitely saved the other occupants of the building. reporter: the fire brought every the scene. the chief says firefighters were able to knock down the fire in

keep the fire from spreading. >> the fire was contained to that one apartment, although there was heavy smoke damage throughout the entire structure. reporter: it will be a while back. ray brewer, wmur news 9. josh: four people in lynn, massachusetts were killed when fire broke out in a home there. crews say that flames engulfed the entire home by the time they had arrived, burning so hot it melted paint on nearby cars and the fire trucks. four people got trapped and died. firefighters were able to rescue two women who they found unconscious inside that building. shelley: a seabrook woman will spend at least five years at the state hospital after trying to kill her two children by giving them bleach. wendy millwright admitted she tries to force feed bleach to the children but pleaded insanity. she's been in the psychiatric units of the state prison for the past year, but now a judge has ordered her to spend the hospital. tonight we are learning more

3-year-old from nashua who was allegedly murdered by her mother, katlyn marin last november. according to court documents brielle suffered from a number of injuries inflicted before she died. kristen carosa joins us live with more. reporter: court documents say that brielle died from blunt impact injuries. but the medical examiner says that her injuries were also consistent with being repeatedly abused. 26-year-old katlyn marin is facing two counts of second degree murder and one count of manslaughter. her daughter brielle died from her injuries she sustained that's their home in nashua last november. in newly released court documents the state's medical examiner says that her injuries were consistent with the clinical definition of battered child syndrome. court paperwork says marin gave a number of explanations as to what led up to her daughter's death including that brielle had seizures and was injured from falling down the stairs.

those who knew marin and brielle. court paperwork says that michael rivera, marin's boyfriend, told investigators marin physically assaulted brielle repeatedly and severely before her death. he also states that at least one of the assaults happened when marin caught bree nell the kitchen attempting to steal food. also in court documents marin's brother-in-law joshua dean says marin has an anger management problem, and observed evidence of abuse on marin's children. investigators say on the night brielle died marin's remaining children were taken from the nashua police department to foster care. two of marin's children told a dcyf caseworker brielle was sick the night before she died. one of the children went onto say marin put a bag over away. marin's defense attorney has filed motions looking to suppress evidence that was taken from her home, and statements she made to police the night brielle died, saying she was

josh: a sign of recovery, a cafe targeted in the paris terror attacks has reopened. five people were killed at that spot which has been covered in flowers since the shooting. neighboring businesses say they are happy to see the restaurant open again and tonight police are searching for two new suspects in the attacks including a man suspected of sending money to a relative of the ring leader. as we learn more about potential isis ties in the california attack, we're also learning more about the victims. shelley: lana zak looks at the lives lost and how they are being remembered. reporter: by candle light the victims of the san bernardino shooting were remembered. >> i'm having a really hard time with it. reporter: each candle representing a prayer, a broken heart. 14 lives taken in an instant, ranging in age from 26 to 60. fathers, mothers, cousins.

islamic extremism in iran to die senselessly in san bernardino. >> she was an angel. reporter: they leave behind their true loves, their best friends, their children. including the six of michael wetzel. >> they are very overwhelmed. there are six kids that have lost their father, and renee is a stay at home mom, so they've also lost all their financial support. reporter: wetzel's wife telling abc he was my best friend and an incredible father who was loved by all. without him this family will never be the same. 52-year-old nicholas worked with the alleged shooter. >> we've been together for 14 years. reporter: his wife says nicholas was always there for her, but now she faces life without him. and among those who survived the shooting, there are haunting memories of that day. >> we're hearing all this gunfire take place. without feel anything. i'm trying to contact my wife and tell her i love her and that i'm okay.

mountain snow showers, can you see them on some of the higher peaks including of course mount washington. but these clouds are going to continuously be moving off toward the east and eventually tonight most of us clear out. especially in central and southern new hampshire. up to the north some of the the cloud may linger. that will actually be good for you because it won't allow the temperatures to dip as low as they could. right now we're at 36 in berlin, 37 degrees in whitefield. 44 in concord, 45 manchester and nashua, where the skies clear out tonight, that's where the temperatures will be the coldest. i'm expecting that to be in southern areas, so wouldn't be surprised litchfield, londonderry, windham, plaistow, atkinson, you guys will likely have some of the coldest temperatures across the state tonight, because of where the clear skies will happen longer. up to the north, a few mountain snow showers and clouds overnight, but you see the trend overnight. by tomorrow morning only a few clouds linger north of the

josh: new information about the motivations behind the san bernardino shooting and the attacker's connection to isis. welcome back. i'm josh mcelveen. shelley: i'm shelley walcott. the f.b.i. is officially treating the shooting as a terror investigation. the assistant director of the l.a. office says they're trying to figure out whether the shooters were planning more attacks. also an official says the woman involved in the attack posted an online message declaring allegiance to isis just before the shooting began. minutes ago a family attorney said there is no clear evidence the couple were part of any particular cell or group. and the news agency affiliated with isis says the shooters were supporters of the group but stopped short of claiming responsibility for the attack. josh: the laconia police department has put together a

20th anniversary of their father's murder approaches. >> you can't explain it, it's only something that people that understand. that's the only way you would know how the feelings are. reporter: december 14, 1995 when fire destroyed the paige home in manchester's north end. walter was found stabbed multiple times in the basement. a war hero, he and his wife fay had had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. their children say she died three and a half years after the murder, of a broken heart. >> it's always going to be, it will always haunt you, because it wasn't fair to them, they were honest people. nobody deserves to have something like this happen to them. reporter: investigators say even two decades later this is a solvable case. they're looking for a tip that will point to a killer and help this family heal.

of 25 years after being convicted on eleven counts. he has asked to have a bore review that sentence, that's month. and the new hampshire man caught in an explosion at an overseas water park says he's moving steadily toward independence. alex haas can once again shower himself and is back to cooking and walking his family's dog. the explosion last year killed a dozen people and injured hundreds more. he was burned on 90% of his body and wasn't expected to survive, but he's made remarkable progress toward recovery and is now back home in new hampshire. later this month he'll have the first of several laser surgeries to treat the scars that remain on his skin. thousands of granite staters are pitching in for this weekend's spirit of giving toy drive. shelley: we've had a steady stream of people stopping by our dropoff site.

josh: an australian brewery owned by sab-miller announced that recall, it covers bottles of expiration dates of july of 20 sf. customers have complained about chip tess top of the bolts. the company is concerned that some of those chips might have fallen inside. recent links to e-coli had chipotle tightening food safety standards. the chain hired a seattle company to develop new procedures including testing all produce before it goes to restaurants. recent tests show e-coli contamination at chipotle locations in six different states. at one point they closed all of its restaurants in oregon and washington. shelley: the world's first washable smart phone has hit the market in japan. they say the phone has an extra tight seal so you can use both soap and water without worrying about damaging damaging the electronics inside. the company has not said whether it will put the phone on sale here in the u.s. josh: if you're suddenly struggling with your wi-fi, you might want to check your christmas lights.

were some of the amounts we got. lancaster, littleton and right in franconia notch there was a trace. this is all great news for area ski resorts, of course, and they've been making their own snow with temperatures below freezing particularly at night. so a lot of the ski areas are open for business. you want to check online, wmur.com, we've got a ski report there for you. it will tell you who is open and who isn't quite yet. but the forecast looks great to be doing anything outdoors, maybe skiing or boarding. lots of sunshine both weekend days, it will be milder on sunday, that might be the tough day for the resorts to be making snow. but it will feel good when you're outside, not so cold. 44 degrees right now in concord. 45 in manchester and nashua. 44 in portsmouth. we fall into the 30's up north already. whitefield 37 degrees. problem is we still have a lot of clouds overhead and they're

even a couple of snow showers in the higher elevations remain. but throughout the rest of the night, slowly but surely the clouds are going to clear out especially in central and southern new hampshire, and look to the west, there's a whole lot of nothing out there. high pressure will be moving in as we go through the weekend, that will keep the skies clear for the most part. overnight tonight maybe some higher elevation mountain snow showers north of the notches. otherwise the skies are slowly going to clear, especially in hampshire. so these are the areas that may have the coldest temperatures overnight. 7:00 a.m. on saturday morning, you're doing your saturday morning routine and doing errands or shopping, it looks good, all day long we're sunny and it even clears up north. we'll follow it up with another sunny day on sunday and temperatures will be warmer then too. overnight tonight, 30 berlin, littleton. could be colder in some of the areas south of manchester because the skies will be clearer longer there.
