university. this is the second of two town hall visits for the democratic presidential hopeful. earlier, sanders spoke at the redfern arts center. at plymouth university, he talked about raising the minimum wage, improving infrastructure, and performing the criminal justice system. in a message well received by this audience, he reinforced his pledge to make every public college and university tuition free. >> making public colleges and universities tuition free and substantially lowering interest rates on student debt is an inexpensive piece of legislation. you know how we are going to pay for it? we are going to pay for it through a tax on wall street speculation. mike: we will have much more coverage of senator sanders'

adam: thanks. also campaigning in new hampshire, senator lindsey graham is continuing to criticize ted cruz. he spoke today at the new hampshire women' s initiative for in new hampshire weighing in on the terror attack in california. he says senators ted cruz and rand paul voted to weaken the surveillance that might pick up information on domestic terror suspects. he said he is eager to know more about the woman involved in the shooting. >> isil recruits more women to their cause than any other terrorist organization. i want to know, was she radicalized before they met? is this a terrorist-arranged marriage? if so, we need to look at our visa system. adam: he says the best way to curb recruitment is to develop a more aggressive policy and defeat it overseas. ohio governor john kasich stopped in claremont and new london. the presidential hopeful spoke about the importance of a

lead a coalition against isis. he also spoke at an economy and health care rally in claremont this morning. stephanie: it was a sunny, brisk day for skiing in the granite state. pats peak opened six trails to skiers and snow boarders today. looks like a lot of fun. meteorologist hayley lapoint tells us if the nice weather will continue for sunday. hayley: it will be a great day to go skiing. they would like it to be colder. it has been so mild recently. look at the high temperatures today. 50 in laconia, 48 in limit. 54 and manchester. compare that to the 40-degree average high. we went above that today. we will be more about that tomorrow. 37 now in laconia. 36 in concord. lower 40' s in manchester. 37 in nashua. sunday will be a few degrees warmer than today with lots more sunshine.

do we keep this nice weather? i will have the full forecast in a few minutes. stephanie: thank you. newmarket fires as a man died after being trapped under a fan being towed. fire and police responded after 2:30 thursday afternoon and found a man unresponsive under a van. the man was airlifted to the hospital where he died of his injuries. newmarket police are investigating and not releasing the victim' s name at this time. adam: a rally took place at the statehouse today to support refugees from syria and iraq. dozens still on main street holding signs and listening to speakers, some from the immigrant community. kristen carosa was there and joins us in the studio with more. kristen: this rally was peaceful, a chance for people to share support for refugees. but there was one man in attendance saying they are a threat to our country. there was a peaceful but spirited show of support for

>> we need to be providing assistance to the victims of violence. being in public and saying that now is very important. kristen: many say after the terror attacks in paris, there is increased fear of people from other countries. they say while the fear of terrorists is understandable, they should not associate terrorism with all refugees. this man is muslim and talked about how the attacks are affecting his life. >> i feel like people' s ignorance and misinformation lead them to make some plastic conclusions. just because i am muslim, they associate me with terrorism. kristen: he says it betrays the nation' s core values per >> you will never hear from them because they are not problems. they are perfectly a simulated. that is what the refugee program does. kristen: not all agreed. >> we should be accepting no

it is too much of a national security risk to bring these people into our states and country. kristen: there was a peaceful response to his views with this man saying under current law there is a rigorous set of background checks that refugees have to pass by multiple federal agencies in order to settle in the u.s. >> it is one of those win-win situations. we are helping people and saving lives. at the same time, we are building our economy locally. kristen: governor maggie hassan has called for a pause on refugee resettlement until the vetting process can be reassessed. kristen carosa, wmur news 9. stephanie: thank you. access phone records of the couple who allegedly killed 14 people in the san bernardino shooting. the u.s. government' s authority four days before the attack. under the new freedom act, authorities can obtain roughly two years of phone records by

adam: "van otis chocolates" opened its doors today for a candy cane making demonstration. stephanie customers got a : firsthand look into what it takes to craft the perfect candy cane. at the end of the demonstration, people were handed a piece of their own to create different shapes. the candy store makes all of its sugary treats in-house and values making candy the old fashion way. >> everything is so mass produced these days. machines do it all, so what we are doing here is actually see the process from beginning to end. and it doesn' t take five minutes. it takes more like a half-hour made. it' s actually hard work. stephanie: "van otis chocolates" has been in their location on elm street for 13 years. the candy making demonstration is an annual tradition. and we want to remind you to donate to the "spirit of giving" toy drive today. we are collecting toys for kids today and tomorrow at toys "r" us in manchester and the crossings in newington. donations are needed for infants through 17-year-olds. the greatest need is for ages 10

you can drop off new, unwrapped toys or make a cash donation. so far, we have collected over 4000 toys at both locations. that sounds like a kind of toys and it is, but there are a lot of kids that need toys. if you could drop something off, that would be wonderful. adam: certainly, the weather will not stop you from doing that. hayley: i was fine with my light jacket. in the sunshine, it felt warm. when things will finally start ahead.

it is much warmer than that, at least earlier this afternoon. the record high for this time in december is 62 setback in 2001. we did not get that warm today, but the start of december has been incredibly warm. out of the past five days, four have been at or above average. so far, we are running three degrees above average in terms of our temperatures. it does not look like that is going to and soon. 36 in concord. 41 in manchester. 39 in portsmouth. 43 in rochester. the clear skies and light wind in place now, temperatures are going to fall quickly overnight. 23 will be the low in concord. 25, manchester.

and radar. over us. we have high pressure firmly in place. that pushes down on the air. when that happens, you cannot get clouds bubbling up. you literally have no clouds in the sky, which happened today. tomorrow, that will be the case. you have to go almost 1000 miles west to find any cloud cover of significance. we have a good stretch of weather over the next couple of days that continues on. a few clouds over the northern part of the state possible overnight. even those should dissolve overnight. cold will settle in. it will be a frosty start tomorrow morning. with the sunshine tomorrow, temperatures make a quick rebound once we get to the afternoon. this is 4:00 sunday afternoon. the sun setting at that time. it will be bright and clear all day tomorrow. maybe a few fair weather clouds in the evening, but that is about it. here'

it might be flap, eagles, flap. jason: the bruins and celtics are on the road tonight. the celtics take on the spurs in san antonio. that' s an 8:30 start. the bruins are in vancouver to face off against the canucks. last night, brad marchand scored on a penalty shot with just over a minute to go in regulation. but calgary got the next two. they evened it in the final seconds, and then johnny gaudreau scored in overtime to win it for the flames. gaudreau had a hat trick. the monarchs play the reading royals again tonight. gametime is 7:00 p.m. last night, manchester skated to a 3-2 win over the royals. tonight is "star wars night" over at the verizon wireless arena. the monarchs will wear storm troopers uniforms that will be available for auction. all the proceeds will go to the "march of dimes." highlights tonight. unh and maine will play the back half of their home-and-home series tonight in durham. last night, the two teams played to a 3-3 overtime tie in orono. game time tonight at towse rink

manchester' s chip kelly will be back in new england on sunday. his philadelphia eagles take on the 10-1 patriots at gillette stadium. it' s a 4:25 start. there is a chance danny amendola will be back in the patriots' lineup on sunday. he is listed as questionable, while rob gronkowski is definitely out. the pats can clinch the afc east division with a win and a jets loss. it would be their 12th title in 13 years. the last two quarterbacks to play the eagles threw five touchdown passes each. >> the crazy thing about it, we touchdown passes on film. we have been seeing all the turnovers, these guys making plays, the defensive line getting to the quarterback. touchdown passes. we have been seeing all the takeaways they have been having. jason: college basketball, division ii, saint anselm hosting merrimack. 4-3, he had a double-double.

he is all alone underneath. he finished with 17. solano had a huge game for merrimack in transition with a game-high of 27. the hawks rallied in the final minute and win 96-90. they are 7-1. the women also played merrimack. this was all hawks. she knocks down three of her 17 for the afternoon. she had a great game for the hawks. she had a game-high of 22 points with 10 assists and a double-double. the hawks win 80-60. michigan hosting houston baptist. number 22 for the wolverines is a sophomore guard from newcastle, new hampshire. he can shoot. a bunch more in the second half.

jason: the red sox introduced their new starting pitcher on friday. david price signed through 2022. there is an opt out clause after 2018. price has been the ace everywhere he has been, the rays and blue jays. despite his writing the season he has struggled in the postseason. specifically this past season when the blue jays were expected to go deep in the playoffs. price hopes to put that behind him in boston. >> good things happen in october. that has not been the case so far.
