adam: we begin with breaking news at 6:00. a 14-year-old boy airlifted to boston to a hospital after he is hit by a car. thanks for joining us. i am adam sexton. stephanie: i am stephanie woods. the crash happened just after 3:00 this afternoon in hudson. that is where we find mike cronin live tonight. mike: highland street has been closed for hours. this remains an active seen what police try to figure out how the 14-year-old boy was hit by a car. the teen was crossing highland street when he was hit by 2007 tucson driving west. police say the boy suffered injuries and was airlifted to a boston hospital. a factor in the accident. but in general, neighbors say they have seen accidents before and cars drive fast on this road. >> the cars fly down this road day long.

i will have more on the forecast in a few minutes. adam: a man from hancock is facing felony criminal threatening and reckless conduct charges after a peterborough police officer says he pointed a gun at him. around 8:00 last night, police got a report of a distraught man whose vehicle was stuck on the athletic field at conval high school. when the officer arrived, he says 22-year-old thomas heissenberger pointed a semi-automatic pistol at one point firing the gun into the ground and yelled at him to leave. backup officers helped subdue heissenberger and take him into custody. stephanie: a newly formed new nonprofit organization has leased a home in manchester and plans to use it for transitional housing for women coming out of prison. it' s called "dismas home of new hampshire." there are other homes like it in other states, but it will be a first here in the granite state. kristen: julie and jack mccarthy have a vision to help women coming out of the state prison in goffstown, and it' s starting

>> we will have four bedrooms. bedroom. kristen: they created a nonprofit called "dismas home of new hampshire." manchester, but they are trying to raise $150,000 to get it open by 2016. >> we obviously need a lot of renovation to it, but it does meet code by city standards. kristen: dismas homes have been created in more than 20 states, including massachusetts and vermont. the concept is to create a supportive, home-like atmosphere. released inmates would stay for several months. >> it started back in the 1960' s when a chaplain at vanderbuilt university saw a need for a home for recently released inmates. kristen: inmates will file an application and need to be accepted. they will be required to look for a job. the home in manchester will partner with students from st. anselm college who will help cook meals, offer support, and help rebuild their trust in

>> there are a lot of things they have to learn, and the students are more than willing to work with the women. kristen: julie and jack work in the new hampshire prison system. they say many women have no one to turn to when they are released. >> we have seen people come back in not just once or twice but three times, and julie and i began to talk about what could be done to help some of these people from coming back in. kristen: they' re hoping this home is the answer and the key to success for many looking to rebuild their lives. in manchester, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. adam: it is going to be a brighter holiday for thousands of granite state kids. stephanie: next, the donations they came in for our drive to help toys for tots and why marines say they are surprised and amazed. plus, why skiers donned santa suits.

150 people dressed up like santa and skiied on sunday river' s slopes for charity. the skiing and snowboarding santas rode the broadway trail, at the same time raising cheer and more than $3,000 for the sunday river community fund. this was the 16th annual santa sunday at the maine ski resort. stephanie: they got all 150 on the same trail at the same time which is pretty cool. it must have been slippery. hayley: that is what they want, right, sliding down the hill. it has been a problem overnight with slick conditions. tonight again, that will be the risk with black ice tomorrow morning. i will talk about how cold it will be, coming up.

>> now, meteorologist hayley lapoint and your forecast. hayley: here is how sunday morning started for a lot of people. thick fog. while it went away at the lake by midday, it did not in the upper valley. you were stuck with fog for much of the day. a beautiful scene an hour or so ago as the sun set with completely clear skies. with clear skies right now, it will be another cold night. a few passing clouds up north.

much of the upper valley. that thin line is the fog right along the river valley. it does continue into lebanon and claremont where reports of visibility are below a mile. that is the case at lebanon at this point. overnight, the fog will thicken up even more. because of that and cold temperatures, we will likely have freezing fog and maybe black ice overnight. look at the temperatures. we have fallen into the 20' s north. 39, laconia. 36, concord. high temperatures were so warm for december sanders -- standards. tomorrow morning, 20' s across the state. 28 in salem. here' s what is going to happen. overnight, passing clouds. again, the threat of fog, especially in the usual areas like the upper valley. some of that may freeze on

thursday is our next chance of passing showers. 43 for the high. friday, scattered showers as well. temperatures starting to move up friday and the upper 40' s. next weekend, back into the 50' s. it does not look like we are taking the big turn toward the real cold winter temperatures just yet. stephanie: the week is looking bright. i think the future is looking bright for the eagles. what do you say? a bit of a surprise. jason: they are hanging in. stephanie: it is an even game. jason: there are a lot of eagles fans in the area because of chip kelly, but only when they are not playing the patriots. the patriots took the field today with a chance to clinch their 12th division title in the last 13 seasons. they just need to beat the eagles at home and hope the jets lose to the giants. right now they are playing in the third quarter and tied 14-14. a slow start.

the patriots got two touchdown passes from tom brady, one to james white the other two danny amendola back in the lineup today. his first touchdown pass was 491 career. that puts them third on the all-time list. two special blenders have hurt the patriots are just before halftime, they tied the game at 14-14. the pats are threatening now. highlights tonight. as for the jets, they had the giants in new jersey. fourth quarter, 20-13 giants. ryan fitzpatrick reince brandon marshall for the game-tying touchdown. 20-20. the jets would go on to win in overtime 23-20. the patriots can still clinch a playoff spot with a win today. the bills were home with the texans. first quarter, 7-0.
