we kind of ebb back closer to the averages. it looks like another warming trend comes back by the end of the week. any sort of cool downs last a couple of days, they are just not long-lasting because the cold air out of canada does not have the same punch to it. snow on the ground tends to act like an ice cube in a glass of water, where it tends to keep things cooler and makes things much colder at night and harder to recover during the day. when you don' t have it on the ground, it allows temperatures to jump more readily. sunshine out there. rainfall stays to our south. it will be quite a bit more in the way of cloud cover out there today giving way to partial sunshine.

the west, the system arrives on thursday. between now and then, partial sunshine. temperatures are a little bit milder. temperatures don' t recover quite as much into the afternoon thanks to the same clouds that kept temperatures up overnight. we are from the mid-20' s to the mid-30' s right now. not back into the teens like we have been seeing play out the last few mornings. there is still a little bit of patchy fog in some of the western and northern valleys. not as widespread as what we have seen play out over the next couple of days. 36-44 today from north to south. the high around 43-44 along the coast. trying to last into the afternoon.
