adam: we begin this noon with breaking news out of concord where an hours' long search for a missing kayaker has just been wrapped up. good afternoon. i' m adam sexton. wmur' s kristen carosa is live in concord where we just learned a sad development. kristen: adam, this search started yesterday at around 3:00 p.m., and as of 11:00 this morning, crews had found the body. let' s show you some video that took place here in concord earlier today. crews started their search wednesday afternoon after they received a report of a missing kayaker on turkey pond in concord. the kayak was located a short time later. it belonged to 68-year-old john stapler. the kayak was found by an employee working at st. paul' s school, which is close by. crews suspended their search last night and resumed this morning just before 9:00 a.m. sgt. hawkes: they went out at 8:40 this morning, we located mr. stapler at around 10:40, so it took about two hours. the new hampshire fish and game dive team located him on the second dive of the day.

obviously, they are distraught as anyone would be. our department, all of our hearts goes out to them. we cannot imagine what they are going through right now. kristen: members of john' s family were here today, and they asked us to respect their privacy. live in concord, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. adam: kristen, thank you. we are also following breaking news out of massachusetts where a red line train with passengers on board traveled several stops without an operator. it happened this morning. you are looking at live pictures right now. the train travelled through multiple stations with passengers on board. the operator got off of the train, and that is when it started to move. no passengers were hurt, and the operator has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries. new this noon, we have learned the cause of the four-alarm fire that destroyed a popular portsmouth restaurant yesterday. officials say the blaze was sparked by a fire in the duct

then spread. the fire broke out inside the portsmouth gas light company as businesses were starting to open yesterday. the building dates back to the 1800' s. no injuries have been reported. a when a woman is charged to this noon with driving the wrong way for almost eckstein miles. state police say they received numerous reports of a car headed northbound in a southbound lane. chelsea cormier drove the wrong way near exit 13 in merrimack. she made all the way to the hooksett tolls plaza before police employed -- deployed spike strips, which hit two of her tires. the 24-year-old has been charged with driving while intoxicated. from a series of robberies one while wearing a president obama mask to a bomb threat, police say a pelham man is facing a slew of felony charges this noon. police arrested 43-year-old ronald szettella yesterday, charging him with crimes that years. wmur'

cracked this case. heather: pelham police say it took a lot of hard work and video. they say szettella had gotten rid of the motorcycle he used the day he called in bomb threat was called into an element or evidence in his house connecting him to the crime and two armed robberies. szettella was arraigned via video at the salem circuit court. police say his most recent crime was in september of this year when he went into the gage hill farm country store wearing a motorcycle helmet and robbed the clerk at gun point. he is also charged with committing an armed robbery at the same store a year earlier. but police say what started it all was a bomb threat called into pelham elementary school in september of 2013. police saying szettella hoped all the kids would be released and he would then be able to spend the day with his children who also go there. >> it really tells us how far someone will go to make a custody arrangement work in their favor, the fact that they

everybody. ray: throughout the year, case children in need. richard gulla: and we partner that up with members to volunteer to go out and agree to purchase gifts and clothing for these children. ray: every one of these packages comes with a story. for instance this one says "a new single mother caring for her daughter and trying to make a among those helping to load the trucks was governor maggie hassan. this year, thieves stole cards and toys from the warehouse. once word went out, the public rallied, and more than enough money was raised to replace the stolen items. gov. hassan: everybody pitched we are meeting all the needs that we know about through m just very proud of the state employees and the national ray: these packages are being sent to children all over the thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, about 3000 children
