pledge saying if he is elected, he will protect police officers by sentencing every cop killer to death. trump was in portsmouth picking up the endorsement of the executive council which voted to endorse trump in the race for president. the support was offered during a private rally in portsmouth. trump says too many officers are killed in the line of duty. if he becomes president, he will sign an executive order mandates the death penalty for anyone that kills a cop. the president says trump's recent comments about muslims did not factor in to their vote. >> do you have any muslim -- >> i'm not going to get in to this. this is a religious -- i'm not going to get in the to the red -- rhetoric. we supported the candidate. we're on board. ray: hundreds of people did stage a peaceful protest outside

down. >> many people who are drunk lose direction of the way on the road because there aren't other cars. erin: she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. a father accused of swinging his child over a safety fence to take a picture faces new charges. she's charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in addition to reckless conduct. jordan denies ever danger. four people are recovering after a home made pipe bomb exploded inside an apartment in central vermont. police say an man lit the pipe bomb and it exploded in his hand. officials say it appears he lost his hand in the blast. another person lost parts of their hand. police say they did find and diffuse a second pipe bomb in the apartment. they are not clear why

there's some great christmas light displays popping up. police are making sure that everyone gets to enjoy them. it's called the senior lights tour. officers escorted senior citizens around the city to check out the lights and even check out displays in other towns. it puts smiles on the faces of everyone involved. >> let's do something nice for the seniors. let's bring them out, get them out of their homes, and bring them out to see lights they wouldn't otherwise see to celebrate christmas. it's something that has become annual and near and dear to our hearts. it is something we're going to continue for as long as i'm chief. erin: i love this. a lot of seniors don't like to drive at night as well. they hosted a special reception for all of the special guests. look at smiles. they had a great time. thousands of kids across new england are getting help. they handed out grants

sean: $1 will serve two meals. $10, 20 meals. so easy. donate directly or do the cash. either way. we made it easy. erin: thank you. we're wake up to a foggy morning. kevin: visibilities down. we have an advisory which is in effect. the dense fog advisory lifts after that. we expect the fog to generally lift after that. it will be a battle at this point to whatever cloud cover is leftover to try to give way to some sunshine. it is going to be another mild day. we go anywhere from the mid 40's to mid 50's. a temperature regime that holds through monday. a little bit more sunshine on saturday than sunday. it should be mild through monday with the rainfall moving in later monday afternoon. heavy at times monday night. that will be the first of the three systems we have left between now and two weeks from today for christmas. you'll notice this morning even after the fog lifts quite a few clouds this morning.

morning trying to break apart. there's a back edge to this that will be moving across the state later on. in to the afternoon, after the fog burns off, any low clouds should give way to partial sun sine. we're off to the running start. you have to bear in mind this time of year, overnight lows are in the teens to lower 20's. we're in the lower to mid 30's. look at the visibilities. when you get down to mile, that's low. you have to factor in extra time. you'll notice that we have the warmer air way in. it is around through monday before the next system gets here. even behind it, we're not talking a huge punch of arctic air. temperatures from 46 to 56 from north to south today. light breeze out of the southwest in to the afternoon after the fog burns off. partly sunny skies through about 3:00 or 4:00. then we get late in the day and partly cloudy skies.

i don't think it will be as widespread of an issue as what we're seeing this morning. as i mention, partial sunshine tomorrow. a better day tomorrow than sunday. you can see the clouds saturday night. there may be a stray shower coming with a very weak disturbance on sunday. i think most of the day in most areas should be dry. it is the better chance of rain that comes in with the system moving in out west. it arrives later monday. we'll have rain heavy at times before pulling away with strong winds on tuesday. highs today in the low to mid 50's. tonight we'll ease back. there will be some valley fog. it won't be quite as dense as anything we're seeing early this morning. here's a look at the extended forecast. it looks like mostly rain later monday and in to early tuesday. then the cooler air tries to come in. we're not talking arctic air. anything that's going to have snow in place for us. there will be two other systems. one late next week and

erin: this is interesting. dozens of people in kentucky are walking away with a smile after getting pulled over by police. that's because instead of tickets, officers are handing out cash. the sheriff's office in one county received a $10,000 donation with the instructions that the money be used to help people. kevin: officers stopped 100 drivers and gave them each $100. this is the second year they've done this. if you pull me over, i would have all of the excuses.

rail was shut off at this point in time. the train coasted because it had momentum forward through several stations before it came to a stop. erin: it took nine minutes before workers could slow it down. the operator has been an mbta employee for 20 years. an investigation to determine how it could have happened. new details regarding the fire that damaged a popular portsmouth restaurant on thursday. we now know that the four alarm blaze started with a grill vent that was scheduled to be cleaned yesterday at the gaslight restaurant. most of the damage was caused by water. fire officials have confirmed that the cause of the fire was accidental and a fire started with a grill on the first floor. our annual spirit of giving food drive gets underway this morning. we're collecting non-perishable food donation at all hannaford, shaw's, and

kevin: pretty thick fog in spots. up in the north country, you've had a patch of clearer skies. we're looking at any extra clouds and the patchy dense fog to give way to at least partial sunshine in to the afternoon. another mild day. upper 40's to mid 50's is where temperatures hold in to the weekend. we'll talk about the next storm system, what it bricks, and when it brings in a bit. erin: this morning federal authorities continue to comb the san bernardino lake for clues in the mass shooting last week. on capitol hill, lawmakers want to know why the government didn't pick up on the suspect's extremist views. nikole killion with more.

search in california. how long are they expected to be searching out there? nikole: the fbi says the search could take days before it finishes its investigation of the san bernardino lake. they won't say exactly what they are looking for. they believe syed farook and tashfeen malik may have visited the lake on the day of the rampage. they are briefing lawmakers behind closed doors. many wonder if potential red flags were missed. they discussed jihad and martyred them. the government didn't pick up on the messages. erin: any idea in california what they are looking for? nikole: well, there are some reports suggesting they may be looking for a hard drive that went missing from the shooters computer. the fbi will simply say

evidence and that it may not find anything. it feels it would be remised if it didn't search. erin: all right. thank you. with the u.s. and other countries on high alert, american authorities have disclosed new troubling details. isis now have its hands on one official passport printing machine. an isis swept through major syrian cities last night, they were able to seize the passport printing machines. they are going through immigration records to see if anyone made it in with any of the counterfeit passports. new this morning, we're learning about a medical helicopter crash that killed off four people on board. it happened overnight in california. an air ambulance had a pilot, nurse, pair -- paramedic, and patient on board. they are trying to figure out if weather conditions may have

combating the state's heroin crisis. a drug sweep has led to 14 arrests due to a joint investigation by nashua police in to the distribution of heroin, marijuana, and crack cocaine in the city. 59-year-old daniel herbert was arrested on heroin charges. this is herbert's second offense. 54-year-old james arrested. he was arrested on four counters, including sale of crack cocaine. new startling numbers showing the climb in overdose deaths. according to the cdc, overdose deaths have surpassed 47,000. that's up 7% from the previous year. many of the deaths were due to opioid painkillers and heroin. heroin deaths climbed by 28% last year. here in new hampshire the medical examiner says the state could log more than 400 drug overdose deaths by the

according to the chief medical examiner as of friday, 319 people in our state have died because of drugs in 2015. erin: a welcomed sight in foxboro. rob > -- gronk cow ski was back since injuring his knee. still no word on the status for sunday night's game in houston. >> now your storm watch 9 forecast. erin: all right. here's a look in manchester. you can see from the sky cam shot, it is awfully foggy out there. visibility is just awful in some areas. you were mentioning the airport. kevin: i like how you called it extreme fog. no fun out there. the visibilities are going to remain low between now and the morning commute. we have a fog advisory in the entire state

once the fog lifts, we're going to have a situation where the clouds we have, thickest out there early this morning, start to attempt to give way to at least a few breaks of sunshine. this is how it plays out. thickest of the fog along with the cloud deck that continues to move across the state. as this continues to move east and we start to get in some breaks, we get in to sunshine. it will likely not be everywhere. quite a few places see some sunshine. that's all it is going to take for us to get back to temperatures in the upper 40's to mid 50's. this is the weather tomorrow back through the ohio valley. partial sunshine and similar temperatures. then we start to get in on the clouds ahead of the next system which is just now starting to make its way in to the pacific northwest. we start off early this morning with temperatures upper 30's to lower 40's. certainly mild enough there's no problem with any sort of freezing fog or issues on area roadways beside the low visibility which will slow you down in and of

mid 30's to lower 40's in central parts of the state. quite a few more lower and mid 40's up north. not as much fog. looks like we'll continue to see the fog lift and eventually give way to partial sunshine. we'll enjoy that tomorrow before the clouds race in on sunday. high temperatures this afternoon. anywhere from the upper range of the 40's to mid 50's. maybe as high as 56, 57 later on this afternoon. it will come with a fairly light wind through the day if anything out of a southwesterly direction. the clouds continue to break apart. that will be the battle after the lunch hour today. it sets up partly cloudy skies tonight. notice the temperatures overnight much like this morning in the upper 30's to lower range of the 40's. maybe just a little bit of valley fog tomorrow morning. otherwise we're talking 40's to lower half of the 50's tomorrow. notice the clouds starting to build in later sat evening. we get in to sunday, quite a few more clouds. there will be the risk of a passing shower.
