rally in front of the statehouse in opposition to a proposed natural gas pipeline. i' m erin fehlau. the kinder morgan pipeline would hampshire before turning south into dracut, massachusetts. pipeline would bring much-needed energy to new hampshire, opponents doubt that' s case. wmur' s ray brewer is live at the rally for us. ray: opponents to the pipeline were aiming for 10,000 names on their petition. instead, they will have nearly 11,000 names to present to the governor. shortly before 10:30, those opposed to the pipeline began their march to the statehouse, accompanied by chants and the beat of drums. kinder morgan says that the pipeline could mean a 25% to 35% reduction in electric bills. natural gas could be used to generate energy. but those here in front of the statehouse fear that new hampshire ratepayers would have to foot the cost of the

an increase in utility bills. opponents also say that there are other ways to meet the energy needs here in new hampshire, and there are too many unknowns for people to be able to intelligently weigh the risks versus rewards. rep. mcconnell: it is impossible for the towns here to be able to take a look at these things and make an accurate assessment of what the costs and risks are without knowing where this project is going to go. david maloney: things like liquid natural gas, lng, is significantly cheaper and has been servicing new england since the 1970' s just fine. ray: not everyone here was in opposition to the pipeline. there was a truck circling the statehouse, playing christmas carols, and among the messages, "pipelines are lifelines." kinder morgan says the pipeline would "generate nearly $20 million a year in local tax revenues and create more than 1000 local jobs in new hampshire."

erin: all right, ray. thank you. new details this noon about two robberies that happened less than an hour apart in keene. police responded to a robbery at a circle k just before 3:00 this morning. around 3:45, a similar robbery call came in at the winchester street sunoco. keene police stopped a vehicle matching the description a short time later and arrested 27-year-old justin paquette and charged him with two counts of armed robbery. 26-year-old nickolas burt and 22-year-old kia pence were also in the vehicle and were charged with possession of controlled drugs. also new this noon, in salem, police have arrested a massachusetts man for allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop. authorities say they tried to pull over 22-year-old eric cruz for a broken headlight. as the officer approached the car, he sped off. the officer followed cruz and discovered he had crashed into a pole a short distance away. police say that all four people in the car ran from the scene, but a k-9 officer found three of them.

including reckless conduct, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled drug. the man accused of swinging his 21-month-old daughter over a safety fence above the merrimack river to take a picture faces new charges. robert jordan is now charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in addition to reckless conduct. jordan denies ever putting his daughter in danger. a driver who crashed into a north reading, massachusetts home has died. it happened early this morning on route 62. police say the driver was declared dead at the scene. it is unclear what caused the crash or if anyone was inside the home at the time. the incident is under investigation. new details in new hampshire' s war on heroin. the state legislature is now expected to start voting on bills aimed at solving the crisis next month. a joint task force recommended expanding drug courts, beefing up law enforcement, mandating participation in a

database, and also tightening prescription rules. the full legislature could start voting on bills by january 21st. today, investigators say they may know where the suspects in the san bernardino terror attack were just before they were killed in a shootout with police. an fbi dive team is searching that area now, hoping to uncover abc' s marci gonzalez has the latest. marci: the fbi searching this lake near the scene of last week' s terror attack in san bernardino, looking for possible evidence the killers may have dumped here just after the massacre. david bowdich: we will leave no stone unturned. marci: this latest effort to uncover more about syed farook and tashfeen malik as the fbi continues questioning enrique marquez. farook' s former neighbor accused of supplying the military-style rifles used in last week' s shooting rampage reportedly told investigators he and farook planned another attack in 2012, then abandoned the plot. sen. risch: there had been some arrests immediately adjacent to
