back porch of the home and lit it on fire while his mother was standing at the glass door and watching. kane ran off according to police triggering a search. picked kane up. they were able to track kane by his cell phone and arrested him as he tried to leave his father's house. they say they were lucky. >> the residents was a duplex that also had someone in the property. so that arson obviously could have gotten really bad, especially using a propellant such as gasoline. ray: no one was hurt. kane is set to be arraigned this morning in court. they are still looking for the person who picked kane up. it is unclear who it was. live outside of the circuit court in salem, ray brewer,wmur news 9.

investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire. when they arrived just before 11:00, they found fire on the back of the building and called in all off duty firefighters. crews were able to mostly contain the flames to the porch area. the cause is under investigation. officials say there was no power to the building and no one lived there. two people are dead after a fast-moving fire in wooster, massachusetts. an elderly brother and sister lived there for decades. neither made it out. the flames burned through both floors of the home. it is unusual for someone to not notice for this long. the cause is under investigation. the police chief in new bedford, massachusetts died. david proverger was a survivor of throat cancer. the mayor called him a great man and

a person is due in court in connection with a murder. adrien stillwell was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. 25-year-old michael first-degree murder. today marks 20 years since a manchester man was found stabbed to death. his family is pleading for the public's help. 75-year-old walter page was found in 1995. investigators say it is stale very soluble case. family members say they want answers about what happened. police in gilford are looking for the man that used a stolen car to try to steal money from an atm. the man in these surveillance pictures back the car in to the machine at the bank of new hampshire yesterday morning.

it turns out the car was stolen out of st. joseph's church. the parking lot there in laconia while the owner was inside attending service. a man accuse of the driving a wrong way on interstate 93 in windham while drunk is due in court this morning. state police arrested 22-year-old andy marzara yesterday morning after several other drivers reported a car headed south toward salem. he faces several charges, including dwi and using a mobile electronic device while driving. the operator who is supposed to be at the controls of that runaway redline train in boston last week is set to face a disciplinary hearing today. the train left the station on thursday morning with about 50 people on board. not the operator. the train went through four stations before transit workers were able to cut power to the third rail and bring it to a stop. still ahead, dr. ben

when things start to cool down and when we could talk snow flakes coming up. erin: turning now to politics, it is a slow down on the campaign trail. bernie sanders is the only candidate with events planned. he's going to meet with students at nashua community college and hold a town hall in hollis. on the republican side, supporters of ben carson tell news 9. they are not worried it has been nearly a month. he hasn't been here since he filed for the primary. he doesn't plan to return until december 20th. recent polls show his support is falling. >> i don't think that's a big concern. every time someone goes to hear him, they come out loving him. erin: when he does come down, his campaign says it is going to be in a big way with the large family-friendly christmas event in concord. one candidate who is gaining ground is ted cruz.

evening with donald trump in iowa. abc's stephanie ramos reports. >> the horse race between the gop presidential candidates is heating up with senator ted cruz on the fast track in iowa running neck and neck. it is a swift rise for the texas senator. a 21-point gain. cruz and trump up until now have played nice. that all changed this weekend. in iowa, trump digging at cruz for opposing popular ethanol subsidies. >> if ted cruz is against ethanol, how does he win in iowa? because that's very anti-iowa. reporter: then on sunday morning. >> look at the way he's dealt with the senator. he goes in like a maniac. that's the problem with ted.

kevin: eventually it will be needed. we have the fifth mildest november and running eight and a half degrees above normal for the month of december. erin: still doesn't mean it is not going to get cold. kevin: it did last year. it rained on christmas eve. eventually the weather pattern will shift. for the time being, we're looking at the milder temperatures. we have the low clouds, patchy fog, and a fair areas of drizzle and wet highways as you walk out the door this morning. the rainfall will peak later on. it will be mild enough along both of them this will be most if not all rainfall that comes through. it will certainly be all rainfall when it makes its way in later on this evening. a couple of heavier downpours and maybe even warm enough for a couple of rumbles of thunder. behind that, temperatures will be above the average because of its origins from moving in from the southwest. you'll notice early this morning the only chance of anything beyond

out well ahead of it early this morning is a little bit of freezing rain. the possibility there for northern parts of new hampshire and northern parts of even coos county where temperatures are down near the freezing mark early this morning. elsewhere it is mid 30's across southern parts of coos county. low and mid 40's elsewhere. already 47 in lebanon. we're at 43 in nashua. 44 in portsmouth. milder air continues to streamline in here ahead of the front. you can see the difference of the temperatures out ahead of the front and behind it. not overly cold behind it. the origin of the area of high pressure really doesn't have an arctic origin to it. it is more of a pacific mild air. it will be cooler by the time we get to wednesday and thursday. high temperatures today running from the mid 40's to lower 50's. a light southwesterly breeze to go along with it. we're talking plenty of clouds more than anything else. just a light shower here or there with the light wind. temperatures will hold steady in the 40's to

then they will go up a tomorrow. out. clouds and a couple of light showers. there should be a lot of drier hours to the day today. here comes the rainfall. you can see that coming through. that winds down early tomorrow morning with clearing south of the white mountains and a few lingering showers up in the north country in rain form. from there, sunshine, temperatures from the upper 30's to upper 40's wednesday. increase in clouds on thursday. ahead of the next system with temperatures in the 40's as it arrives. another shot of rainfall making its way through. once it goes by, we eventually go back to cooler conditions by the end of the week. temperatures pretty close to the averages by the time we get to next weekend. we have to bare in mind the average high is 35 or 36. these are still above normal. it is going to be a pretty rude awakening by the time we get there. truly feeling a little bit more like the christmas season.

poured gasoline on the porch and lit it on fire. a fire in hampstead left a family homeless last night. it happened just before 6:00 on pinewood drive. no one was injured. we're expected to learn more today about a deadly rollover crash in exeter. police tried to pull over 33-year-old eric williams for several driving violations. he lost control, smashed in to guardrails, and rolled the car several times. more on that coming up. the roads are wet. kevin: they are in spots. we have some patchy fog and drizzle. beyond that the main focus is in far northern areas. there could be some freezing rain. it is far northern areas of coos county this morning. our main rain chance southwest. a couple of heavier downpours and a couple of rumbles of thunder. today just kind of plan for a few areas of drizzle and maybe a light rain shower.

he lost control, smashed in to guardrails, and rolled his car. he did not have a seat belt on. car. >> in the area just east of exit 11, the operator made a sudden movement in the vehicle which caused him to lose control. it rolled over several times in the median and the vehicle came to rest. erin: and stay with wmur as we learn more about the investigation in to the crash. a pelham teen is accused of driving more than 100 miles per hour on 93 this weekend. state police say 19-year-old joseph brown was driving south. troopers say brown was going 107 miles per hour in the 65 mile per hour zone. he's due in court on january 14th on reckless driving charges. state police cite a man for speeding for the second time in a week. last thursday they stopped 21-year-old joel

miles per hour also on 93 near the hooksett toll plaza. he was arrested for reckless operation. yesterday the same trooper pulled figueroa over again for speeding. he reportedly told the trooper had had just picked up his car from the towing company. he claimed he was only going about 80. the trooper issued another summons for a speed violation. closing arguments in the phillip chism murder trial are expected today. they were postponed because one of chism's lawyers were sick. they claims he was insane when he killed colleen ritzer two years ago. nashua police will continue searching for ronaldo acosta. he's described as hispanic, 5'7", 150 pounds.
