narcan will now be stocks that all right aids -- rite aids in the state. the governor signed the standing move and everyone can buy narcan. for $50, you get two doses with an atomizer and instructions. >> this is really for families and friends of people who are suffering from addiction. it is very important that while we are in the middle of this epidemic, we save as many lives as possible, which narcan helps us do. we still know we have much more work to do. ray: experts say the total number of drug overdose deaths in new hampshire could reach 400 this year.

department of health and human services made narcan available at the community health centers. you will now be able to find narcan at all 68 rite aid stores in the state. erin: thank you. police in moultonborough are launching a new addiction outreach and recovery program. the department is the first in new hampshire to partner with the police assisted addiction and recovery initiative. officers will help people find a treatment and recovery center. students in nashua are going back to class after a threat closed all the schools in that district. presence at the schools today. police checked every building that they are safe. police are not calling the

everything they can to bring those responsible to justice. the former police chief in bartlett has been arrested. timothy connifey faces several charges including witness tampering and perjury. while he was the chief, he improperly controlled the prosecution of kate putnam, with whom he had a relationship, and then tried to influence her testimony to a grand jury about their relationship. he is also accused of lying under oath about his relationship with her. putnam is charged with false swearing in connection with her grand jury testimony. police in exeter are looking for the mass man -- masked man robbing a store in exeter just before 2:00. the clerk was not hurt. crews planned to make final repairs to the pavement at a

today after a water main break created a six-foot sinkhole. a police cruiser was sitting in the starbucks drive-through lane when the road gave way. the water is now back on. you now have a new way to get to the manchester-boston regional airport. a new road connecting londonderry to the airport by penttengill road will open. it opened yesterday, rather. it will help accommodate growth in the area. >> this represents an opportunity economy. what we can try to achieve in perspective, to have job growth. senator kelly ayotte and governor maggie hassan attended the ribbon-cutting. police in augusta, maine have arrested a man accused of

animal cruelty. he kicks a four-month-old golden retriever hard enough that it flew four feet in the air after telling a woman to shorten its leash even though it was not close enough to touch him. crews worked in massachusetts to clean up a crane that toppled over into a house. home. three other cranes were brought in to remove the first crane. the work was unsafe, so they had to wait for the larger cranes to arrive overnight. still to come, lindsey graham has ended his campaign for the white house, but the senator could still play a key role in the race. immigration. the hot topic being debated candidates.

cipal told her she had to take it down. a federal investigation has determined that the largest public school system in the americans with disabilities act. 83% of the public elementary schools in new york city are not with disabilities. schools that are fully accessible. the city has 30 days to come up with a plan to address the problem. the records keep on growing for "star wars: the force awakens." the movie actually pulled in $248 million in north america over its first weekend. that is $10 million more than originally reported. around the world, it scored a staggering $529 million. those numbers are all-time

[laughter] kevin: we start off talking about the rainfall. the big story beyond the two waves of rain is the record high we will likely have on thursday and temperatures still in the 50' s for your christmas day. early this morning, we have the clouds continuing to fill in. the rain shower is poised -- showers are poised. it will be heavy at times before winding down this evening. temperatures ahead of that are

28 a top mount washington. the warmth continues to come in. this train of moisture along the southwest flow also continues. high temperatures will get back into the 40' s or near 50 thanks to a breeze. a lot of places will be stuck 43-44 with the rainfall. this is fairly progressive. by the time we get to the evening commute, we could start to see the winding down process of the rainfall. northern parts of the state are still in the rain by this evening. most of it has passed us by and that leaves us with patchy fog. we have a brief break ahead of the next wave of rain that moves in tomorrow afternoon.

this is another fast-moving area of rain that should be out of here on thursday. we will have a southwesterly wind, which will push temperatures up quickly. it will not be a son-filled -- sun-filled day on thursday, but temperatures will be in the 60' s. the bottom line is excellent traffic what will -- weather for us, as the warmth lasts all the way through friday. s today. rainfall moving in midmorning and then advancing northeastward from there. another area showers late night. after that, temperatures in the 60' s statewide on thursday. still some sunshine around for your christmas day.

that is 20 degrees above normal. we will go back to 10 degrees above normal over the weekend. it is not chilly sunshine until we get to monday or tuesday. erin: the mountains were wishing it was a little cooler. kevin: they could use some snow for the holiday weekend, but not much coming up. erin: we want to check in on our top stories. ray: governor maggie hassan has signed a standing order. as a result of the order, everyone will be able tobuy narcan at rite aid stores in the state for $50. you get a kit with two doses, two atomizers, and instructions. not every right it will have nor can on hand every day, but they will be able to tell you where you can get it immediately or order it. erin: students in nashua are going back to school after a threat prompted officials to close class yesterday.

died in new hampshire this year from opioid overdoses. governor maggie hassan is calling the stocking of narcan a life-saving move. >> i' m very grateful that rite aid stepped up and is leading the way for new hampshire pharmacies. we are losing almost a person a day to overdoses, especially to fentanyl right now. the narcan would allow somebody to administer a drug safely topull somebody out of an overdose. ray: with the standing order, anyone can now buy narcan at rite aids across new hampshire. the cost will be $50 in the kit and instructions. >> not every rite aid aid in new hampshire will necessarily have narcan that day, but they can all order it or they can tell you what rite aid store does have it.

fight the most pressing public health and safety challenge facing new hampshire. earlier this year, the governor signed legislation allowing doctors to prescribe narcan to the families and loved ones of addicts. health and human services may 4500 narcan kits available at community health centers across the state this year. >> the pharmacist will train people about how to administer it and what they need to do after they give a dose of narcan. ray: a spokesman for rite aid says the pharmacy chain is committed to helping reduce overdose deaths in the state. there are 68 rite aids in new hampshire. erin: thank you. students in nashua are headed back to school after officials closed all of the city schools

the e-mail threat was specific to nashua' s two high schools, monday' s date, and how students would be hurt. police are confident that the schools are now safe. they checked every school and did not find anything suspicious. nonetheless, the superintendent stands by the decision to cancel classes yesterday. >> had we help school in our other schools, we would have had a very high rate of absenteeism. erin: investigators are not calling the threat a hoax. there will be extra officers on hand at schools across the city this morning. an accident involving a police cruiser shut down an intersection in manchester. it happened at the intersection of valley and pine streets. three people were taken to the hospital, including an officer. the attorney general' s office is

two-year-old murder in keene. 48-year-old david wheelock was found shot to death inside his home on pearl street on december 20 1, 2014. detectives are hoping to find anyone who was driving on the street between 9:00 and 9:30 the night he died. a late model buick was seen speeding away from the area following the report of gunshots. anyone with information is urged to contact keene police. new hampshire ball bearings as agreed to pay $150,000 in penalties for a family -- an explosion that injured 15 people . the majority of the money will go to dedicated hazardous waste fund. the explosion happened when a tank containing acid was emptied into a drum that held an

a suspect in ohio ran into trouble while trying to escape a store. he jumped off an escalator and fell headfirst to the floor below. he was trying to go down the up escalator when he attempted to escape. >> the officer tried to catch him, got a hold of his legs. he kicks at the officer. and he fell. he landed on his head. erin: the suspect was not seriously hurt, but he was arrested on misdemeanor theft charges. a u.s. military base in alaska throughout hundreds of tubes of lip balm after discovering they contained trace amounts of hemp oil. the sexual assault and prevention officer had been distributing the lip balm. hemp seed oil is banned under u.s. army and air force regulations.

lights. kevin: they are not just to be stationary. we start off with your weather headlines. it could be heavy rain today. we are not talking the walkie standards of late, but when you are in the 40' s, you are 5-10 degrees above normal for this time of year. we have some lower 30' s in the lower lying valleys. the second round of rainfall after this one pushes out will be late tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow evening. behind that, 60' s for your christmas eve. 50' s for christmas day. rainfall on the doorstep. it will be approaching as quickly as 8:00. it will navigate northeastward. this batch of rain will be fairly progressive. by late in the day, we will

temperatures range from the lower 40' s to the upper 40' s. these numbers are pretty close to our normal highs for this time of year. we are 10 degrees above normal for the month. we have just nine days to go. we are looking up north where temperatures are down near the freezing mark. high temperatures into the afternoon. a couple of upper 30' s in the sheltered valleys in central parts of the state. it will be from the mid-40' s to the lower 50' s thanks to a southeasterly wind sending the warmer air inland. you can see these pockets of heavier rainfall around through the afternoon before letting up quickly later on this evening. any clearing sets apache fog that will form overnight. we will start the day with some

the next system running around for southern areas during the commute. eventually, that will fizzle out early thursday morning. any clouds that we have out there on thursday trying to give way to a couple of sunny breaks. if that happens, we are talking temperatures into the 60' s on thursday. we will be in the 50' s on friday. back out to the west, a big storm system located in the desert southwest. that trough continues to send the milder air in our direction. even though it will be cooler behind that system, we are still above the average into the beginning and middle of next week. 40' s to near 50 degrees today. rainfall moving in late morning to the afternoon. either side of 50 tomorrow.

temperatures in the 60' s just about statewide on thursday. probably some 50' s in some sheltered valleys. christmas day, no travel issues whatsoever. a couple of showers by the time we get to the weekend. erin: this might be the first year when you are able to put up your lights and it was not cold out and you can take them down and it is not cold out. kevin: it looks like the warmer weather lasts at least until december 30. erin: this has been quite the stretch. ten rod farm is on a mission to help families. they are teaming up with the goodwill to distribute free christmas trees to those in need. customers can pick up a coupon for a free tree at the goodwill. the farm has about 80 trees left. that is wonderful. still ahead, some people in spain got a very big present for christmas. the drawing for one of the
