s been a day with all day long meaning that when things switched overdue contact and it has been formed a thin layer of ice and will continue to do so overnight. let' s look at the snow totals, londonderry with four inches. inches. a report from plymouth with six inches there, 5.5 in brentwood and madison and three inches in hudson. the winter storm warning is in effect a little bit longer in northern new hampshire, maine, and vermont. you can see the snow is still falling in the northern part of the state from the white mountains northward and that will continue through the evening and overnight hours. in southern new hampshire at first glance you think nothing is happening here but the drizzle is not showing up.

temperatures are in the 20. a chance of a few areas of freezing drizzle and mixed snow to the north. haley is out live in salem. are you still having freezing drizzle or missed? haley: it is superfine at this point but the roadways and untreated areas are extremely slippery this evening, so be careful of that. you get a glaze on the windshield wipers in areas where they are not treated so be careful of that this evening. we have a fresh coating of snow across the area and on top we have this crusty surface once the sleep started to fall which

that we started to pick that up. that has compacted some of the snow totals in a lot of communities in southern new hampshire. coming up i will explain why some of us saw fleet and how it forms up in the higher part of the atmosphere. i will be back in a few minutes with more on that. jean: the brigade of plows has been out since early this morning trying to keep the roads safe. it was a slow go this morning and the cold temperatures aren' t helping the conditions tonight. the speed limit on the state' s highways has been 45 miles an hour all day. although that has now been lifted in parts of southern new hampshire. wmur' s adam sexton is live in salem with an update on the conditions. adam: they have lifted that limit but as you can see the traffic out here is still going pretty slow and there is a reason why. this is an access road for this park and right.

underneath the snow. they have done two or three but once you get beneath all this note there is just a hard layer of ice and that is what drivers are watching out for. morning commute was much worse than this drive home. a lot of slick roads out there this morning and people wondering what is going on in terms of treatment of the roads. this storm had a lot of water content in the snow and ice falling on top of it so it was hard to keep up with. the drivers we talked to were still talking about this morning when we talked to them. there weren' i' m on the road at 4:30 in the morning so it was really sloppy. adam: the concern heading into the evening and overnight is re-freeze. because there is so much water in this, you had freezing rain

a lot of eyes out there and mixed in with the snow underneath. tom: the first storm of the season brought a mix of snow, sleet and rain to the coast. accumulations there were slightly less than other areas of the state, but still made for a messy commute. jennifer crompton joins us from portsmouth' s market square with how that part of the state has fared. jennifer: it is definitely cold here and snowy. portsmouth has about three inches and now has snow banks dotting the area that will likely be here for months to con. first responders here, and further inland say this storm was rather uneventful but it started out with a bang. there were several reports of vehicles slipping and sliding as the commute started. rochester saw 4 to six inches,
