sean: much quieter out there this morning. thanks for waking up with us. the last wednesday of 2015. this morning, it is cold out there. kevin: temperatures have not moved that much from the readings we had yesterday when the precipitation was coming down. we start off with a lot of places in the 20' s. assuming you see any moisture on the roads, those secondary roads, the untreated surfaces, the driveway, sidewalks, those places are going to be slick. up north, very light, fluffy snow came down. a lot of lingering clouds out there. upper 20' s to mid-30' s out there. we will take a look at your morning drive. we' re joined alive by 95.7 wzid' s deb davidson. good morning. deb: good morning, kevin.

centerline and crashed head-on. amy coveno joins us live in wakefield. good morning. amy: good morning. wakefield police issued the press release at 1:44 this morning, deferring all questions about the secret service agents to their office. we are waiting to hear back from them. six people were injured in this collision just after 7:00 last night. a mercury sable headed the centerline. the driver, bruce danforth, 45 years old, was killed. crash. two passengers in the mercury sable were hurt. the four on duty secret service agents in the southbound ford taurus were taken to frisbie memorial initially. certainly, lots of questions

secret service agents were assigned to in this part of the state. it is of note that hillary clinton had campaign events in the state yesterday. she does get secret service protection, that would is not confirmed whether these on duty agents were assigned to her campaign. that is the latest from wakefield. sean: thank you, amy. three people are dead and four are hurt after a tractor-trailer truck and an suv crashed head-on in killing 10 -- killington, vermont last night. police described the scene as traumatic and say it appears that one of the vehicles crossed the centerline on a snowy road. fire destroyed a home in raymond last night, forcing three people into the cold.

before 10:00. he tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher, but the flames spread quickly. no one was hurt, but two cats family. >> police, the manchester police department! come out with your hands up! charges after causing a standoff with police in hooksett. brandon griffin assaulted his girlfriend at the firebird motel, but refused to come outside when police arrived. police removed him after several hours. he was not hurt and being held on bail. a panel of judges will review the sentence for roland dow, the plaistow man accused of torturing his girlfriend'

he is serving a in some spots. crews have been clearing and treating the roads. minutes to scrape the ice of your car if you did not do it last night. the weather is causing deadly problems across the central part of the country. the national guard has been called out in missouri and several rivers are at flood stage. megan: along the rising rivers, an army of volunteers armed with sandbags are fighting a tough foe.

kevin: the last two days of 2015, and we are easily going to be the warmest december on record. a lot of lingering clouds and a lot of lingering slick spots early this morning. a look ahead to how we begin 2016 in just a bit. sean: two women from new hampshire are suing cbs because of a song in "the big bang theory." according to the lawsuit, the show used lyrics written by edith newlin, who wrote a poem called "soft kitty" written in the 1930' s. her daughters are suing, saying cbs failed to pay her, and passed the song off as their own. the dinosaurs are sticking

the exhibit was scheduled to close on january 17, but has been so popular that it will be open seven days per week through the end of january. the exhibition includes robotic dinosaurs and hands-on exhibits. these things are very lifelike. neat stuff. coming up, many of us need a cup of coffee to get going in the morning. researchers say you might want to have another cup before you head to the gym. a rescue mission is underway in china.

sean: rescue crews in china are working on plans to rescue eight

they have been trapped for five days. they were spotted yesterday on infrared cameras. they are said to be hungry, but otherwise fine. the force of that mine collapse was so strong that it registered as a 4.0-magnitude earthquake. macy' s is recalling more than 120,000 martha stewart frying pans because rivet covers could pop off and fly across the room. the recall includes eight and ten-inch pans. you can get credit if you return them to macy' s. it has been a record-setting year for the movies. ticket sales have topped $11 billion in the u.s. and canada and still climbing. that is thanks to several major blockbusters, including "fifty shades of grey," "furious 7," "jurassic world," and, of course, "star wars: the force awakens." kevin has seen all of those, right? the previous record was set back

stratford, just over six inches of snow. a nice bit of snow for ski country. some spots, upwards of eight inches of accumulation there. the thickest of the cloud cover moves to our east later this morning and sets up one or two sunny breaks into the afternoon. for southern areas of the state, especially after this lead, a chance to get above freezing this afternoon. you will notice back to our west skies. control. that leaves us with a couple of fairly weak systems to track over the next few days. mid-20' s in southern spots. upper 20' s to the west. west. tomorrow may be our last day

the colder air arrives on sunday night and into monday. high temperatures today, low and mid 30' s for most. there are a couple of areas reporting a little bit of drizzle around in southern parts of the state with a mostly cloudy sky into the afternoon. you can see that futurecast paints little hope for abundant sunshine this afternoon. there could be slick spots later on this evening and through the overnight hours as temperatures go back below freezing. tomorrow, any clouds early give way to partial sunshine. that will be at going forward. the one exception to that looks to be on sunday. from the northwest. there will be a push of arctic air that could mean highs in the low and mid 20'

head-on with another vehicle. amy coveno has the latest. amy: good morning. wakefield police issued a press release this morning, differing all questions about the on-duty secret service agents to that agency. we are waiting to hear back from them. police confirmed that six people were injured in this head-on collision. a mercury sable headed north on route 16 crossed the centerline. years old, was killed. this accident. the four on-duty secret service agents in the southbound ford taurus were taken to frisbie memorial initially. no word on their conditions this morning. questions as to what four secret service agents were doing in this part of the state.

the state yesterday. she did arrive an hour and a conditions, but we have not confirmed that they were assigned to her campaign. we are live in wakefield. sean: thanks. people across the state are digging out after yesterday' s storm dropped more than half a foot of snow in some areas. here is a live look at plymouth. this community and those north of it so the most of the storm. that made for treacherous driving conditions out there. the roads could still be slick, as dead -- deb talked about. police have already dealt with 250 spinouts and crashes, statewide. the fresh snow is a welcome sight for new hampshire' s ski resorts.

after a slow start to the season, employees that pat' s p korg allowed -- peak were glad to see more folks out. >> we were skiing four trails two days ago and today we will be skiing 12. >> we were so happy to be able to get out on our vacation this year. we have made 4-5 runs for the night skiing. the conditions are better than we thought they would be. sean: ski resorts will be able to really rev up the snow guns. a massachusetts man is accused of pulling a gun on a snow plow during a road rage incident. 51-year-old michael mccullom was trying to turn onto a street yesterday morning when he merely crashed into a -- nearly crashed into a snowplow.

at one point, police say he threatens the driver with an unloaded gun. both men are now facing assault and battery charges. the unseasonably warm december is delaying the opening of the ice castle in lincoln. a utah-based company was hoping to have the castle open by the beginning of january, but that has been pushed back until february. the company will be in touch with those who have purchased tickets for dates in the coming weeks. i massachusetts man was taken into custody after he charged a trooper and an officer. police received two separate reports of disturbances in berlin. a driver was not at the scene of a crash. soon after, troopers heard a man screaming on dalton road.

26-year-old paxton kursinski confronted them and charged at them. he was involved in both disturbances and the crash. he was taken to the hospital treated for injuries. charges are pending. a man wanted in maine has been captured for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine. 41-year-old john regan was with his three young children when he was arrested yesterday. his girlfriend, 28-year-old jennifer boudle, is also charged with manufacturing meth. the charges were filed after officers searched their camper in wells, maine last month. manchester police are trying to track down a para of robbers who held up the 7-eleven on webster street tomorrow afternoon -- yesterday afternoon. no one was hurt. coming up, twitter has announced a new policy regarding user accounts.

kevin: kevin:wednesday morning, december 30. we start off the clouds. a lot of clouds otherwise. afternoon. we will look down the road to the beginning of 2016 coming up. sean: the faa and massachusetts state police are investigating a close call over the skies of boston. on christmas day, a drone flew dangerously close to a packed air canada flight landing at logan airport. drones are restricted from flying within five miles of an airport, but this one was two miles out. >> think about that this is not just a toy.

could endanger other people' s lives. sean: the drone was about 100 feet below the plane. the flight did land safely. the fbi has joined an investigation into a deadly plane crash in alaska. the plane hit two buildings, one of which houses the attorney general in anchorage. pilot was killed, no one on the ground was hurt. officials do not believe it was terrorist-related. twitter users have new rules to follow. the social media giant will suspend or ban issues who issue violent threats -- users who issue violent threats or promote harm toward others on the basis of race, religion, or other factors. twitter and other social media sites have come under increasing pressure from those who say

fair skies going forward through the weekend with a front eventually approaching on sunday. here is a look at the satellite picture. the thickest of the cloud cover poles to our east. you will notice that there are a lot more clouds back to our west. we could have patchy drizzle. with temperatures below freezing, there could be issues overnight tonight and tomorrow morning across the area. the farther north you go, it is going to be a slow climb for a lot of folks today. light wind and more clouds then sunshine. a few breaks are certainly possible.

the harbormaster says the whale splashed around for about 45 minutes. humpback whales are not supposed to be lingering around new england this time of year. they usually migrate to warmer climates once the temperatures drop. pretty cool to watch. a man in colorado has been spending time on street corners. he is handing out cash to anyone who flashes him a smile. he pays people one dollar each to put on a happy face. he says he got a little extra money for christmas and thought it would be fun to share the wealth in a unique way. right now, it is 6:52. still to come, a final check of top stories, including a
