all the major roadways in new hampshire are wet. there are portions of black ice throughout the state, especially north of merrimack. we are seeing some slow-moving traffic in the concord area on 393 in both directions. 101 west is slow as you approach 293 in manchester. we are seeing pockets of slow volume on 93 south from tilton to the state line. this report is being brought to you by peters honda, nissan, and kia of nashua. from the wzid traffic network, i' m deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: thank you so much. state police want to hear from a driver who may have witnessed a deadly crash in wakefield that sent four secret service agents to the hospital.

kristen: three of the four agents hurt in the crash were treated and released. a fourth remains in a boston hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. bruce danforth was driving the other car involved. he was killed, leaving behind five children and seven grandchildren. he was driving a suspended license. police believe you may have been trying to pass another car when he crashed into the agents' vehicle. investigators would like to hear from the driver of that third vehicle. the agents were working a detail for hillary clinton' s campaign. clinton released a statement.

passengers in danforth' s car. erin: thank you. state police say speed and use of a cell phone may have played the role -- a role in a deadly crash in exeter. 26-year-old janelle jordan of newmarket was headed east yesterday afternoon when she hit a guardrail, went airborne, and hit another guardrail before coming to rest on the median. she died at the scene. firefighters rescued an unconscious person from a house levels of carbon monoxide were found in the building. the building. the state fire marshal is trying to determine what caused the carbon monoxide levels to spike. there are several celebrations planned in new hampshire.

it is later saturday evening that we will start to watch that cold front approach. with that, areas of light snow continuing to go up through the white mountains. that will be the leading edge of the colder air that eventually arrives. high temperatures today up just above 40 degrees for southern areas. we go through this evening with temperatures easing back into the 20' s and 30' s across the region. the extended forecast continues to step back temperature wise through monday night. high temperatures on monday in the teens to lower 20' s. we are talking single digits for overnight lows. erin: wow. and we are right near the freezing mark. could be tricky in spots. thank you so much.

>> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 daybreak. erin: good morning to you. it is thursday, december 31, the last day of 2015. we are going to take a look at first night festivities in just a bit. we begin with state police looking for a driver who may have witnessed a crash on route 16 in wakefield that claimed the life of a new hampshire man and left six others injured, including four secret service agents. an investigation is underway into a deadly crash on 93 in

investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in goffstown that displaced a family. we are seeing temperatures around the freezing mark. kevin: third straight morning with slick conditions early on. temperatures are still hovering right around 32. some patchy fog to go around with that this morning. in a lot of locations, we will rebound above freezing. a lot of locations will be above 40 degrees to round out 2015. erin: be careful out on the roads. we want to take a look at how things are moving on 93. kevin: for a look at the morning drive, we are joined live by 95.7 wzid' s deb davidson. good morning. deb: good morning. there is the possibility of areas of black ice.

route 16 when he drove into the path of another car. troopers believe he may have been trying to pass another vehicle. >> at some point, he crossed over the double yellow line and entered into the southbound lane, colliding with the ford taurus. kristen: a heavily damaged mercury sable is evidence. 45-year-old bruce danforth, a father of five and grandfather of seven, died on the scene. his passengers, his 35-year-old girlfriend and a 21-year-old friend, were both injured in the crash. four secret service agents were riding in the ford taurus and were also injured. the damage was so bad that all the victims had to be cut out of their vehicles. three of the agents have been released from the hospital, but

there is no word on the conditions of the passengers in s car. police say danforth was driving on a suspended license. the agents had been working a detail for the hillary clinton campaign. clinton gave her condolences to the victims. state police say danforth may car. they are asking for that driver additional information. erin: thank you. a deadly crash in sugar hill is also under investigation. the accident happened at 1:30 yesterday afternoon. a car was heading south when it lost control, crossed the center median, and went into the northbound side, hitting a jeep. the driver of the car was killed. the name of the driver was not

fire officials are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that badly damaged a home in goffstown. the flames broke out yesterday afternoon. the fire started in an attached garage and quickly spread to the rest of the house. officials say no one was home when the fire started, but the red cross is helping two adults and three children who were displaced. jeb bush is doubling his new hampshire campaign staff. the campaign spokesperson says that they are focusing on the granite state before primary night on february 9. jeb bush headquarters in manchester will add 20 new staffers. >> half the primary vote is going to decide this race in the last seven days. to be in a position to win, you have to talk to them constantly, in their doorstop, their town

a good ground game builds those relationships and does the follow-up necessary to help these people. erin: the bush campaign' s investment in new hampshire is not coming out of nowhere. the campaign is scaling back advertising in iowa and south carolina. a superior court judge has ruled that a convicted sex offender must remain on the state' s registry. the man known as john doe was fighting to get his name removed from the registry. the request came after a state supreme court ruling said that new hampshire' s law requiring certain criminal offenders convicted before 1994 to register is unconstitutional. the new ruling says john doe needs to prove that he is not a danger to society before his name is removed. one of the four men convicted in

kevin: starting off the final day of 2015 with patchy fog and light scattered showers. a jump to the lower 40' s with gradual clearing. we will have the details on your new year' s eve forecast and a look toward the holiday weekend coming up. erin: this morning, historic flooding is inundating state in the midwest. one of the hardest hit areas is st. louis, missouri. nikole killion is in our the obama administration is getting involved. nikole: the white house says president obama interjected -- interrupted his hawaiian vacation to offer federal support. the flooding could be even worse than previous floods, including the big one of 1993.

says the mississippi river has spilled over nine levees in the st. louis area. many people had to be rescued. the president thanked governor nixon for his efforts and offered his condolences to the victims. the president has directed his staff to monitor the events closely and to work with governor nixon to provide help. erin: comedian bill cosby has been arrested in connection with a decades-old sex crime. the 78-year-old is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home in pennsylvania in 2004. this morning, he is free on $1 million bail. this is the first time he has been charged with sexual misconduct despite years of allegations by several women.

during his arraignment yesterday and he is due back in court on january 14. the remains of a massachusetts man who disappeared on new year' s day 2014 have been found. authorities are trying to figure out what happened to him. 37-year-old james robertson was kidnapped from his parents home. four men are charged in connection with the kidnapping, but it is too early to say of homicide charges will be filed. . an air canada flight had to be diverted after major turbulnce injured 21 passengers, including three children. >> you see everything flying around. whoever did not put the safety belt on was flying around. >> it was just like in the roller coaster. the plane would go down and lots of screaming. erin: the flight was heading

had to make an emergency landing in calgary. passengers who were hurt suffered neck and back injuries. a new drink seemed after "frozen" is being discontinued after groups complained it might encourage kids to experiment with alcohol. the nonalcoholic grape soda has since been removed from the home bargains website. a dog in missouri has a new family after it was abandoned by its previous owner. surveillance cameras show the owner pushing the dog out of its car. the animal was out in the cold for more than a week before a pair of city employees found him and brought him to safety. >> i couldn' t believe it. it was a beautiful little dog.

if you are between towns or changing elevations between now and 8:00, you will want to factor in extra time to get there safely. you will notice that it has been a very warm december. we are a solid 2.5 degrees above the warmest december on record. with temperatures starting out near normal highs, it is a certain lock that this will be the warmest december on record. this is on the heels of the warmest november on record. eventually, mother nature has a way of balancing everything out. patterns can tend to change and we are going to start to see the beginning of a change over the course of the holiday weekend.

a new achievement for cape cod. this image was taken on june 13 from the international space station and ranks number 10 on nasa' s list of top 15 space station earth images of the year. very cool shot. i bet a lot of people have been to that area. ski resorts across the state will be ringing in the new year with special celebrations. pat' s peak expects hundreds of people to ride under the lights until 10:00 p.m. the gunstock in guilford is planning a night out. both resorts have fireworks at midnight. cranmore mountain will put on a two-hour led light show with fireworks at 6:30 p.m.
