apartment in nashua yesterday after finding high levels of carbon monoxide in the building. officials say there were no co detectors in the building. the state fire marshal is helping to determine what caused the carbon monoxide levels to spike. there are several celebrations planned in new hampshire. portsmouth and claremont are holding first night festivities. claremont includes things like music come a laser tag, marshmallow roasting. both will wrap up with a fireworks show. wolfeboro is no longer holding first night, but they will have fireworks at 6:30. hampton beach will launch fireworks at 8:00 p.m. boston is gearing up for the 40th anniversary of its first night event. security will be tight. for the first time, it is not being run by the city, but will

kristen: state police say bruce danforth was heading northbound on route 16 around 7:00 on tuesday night when he drove into the path of another car. troopers believe he may have been trying to pass another vehicle. >> at some point, the mercury sable crossed over the double yellow line and entered into the southbound lane, colliding with the ford taurus. kristen: a heavily damaged mercury sable sits at the state police barracks held as evidence in the death of bruce danforth, the driver. if all of five and the grandfather of seven, he died on the scene. his passengers, his 35-year-old girlfriend and her 21-year-old friend, were both injured in the crash. four secret service agents were riding in the ford taurus and were also injured. all the victims had to be cut out of their vehicles. three of the agents have been

at mass general. there is still no word on the conditions of the passengers in danforth' s car. he was driving on a suspended license. the agents had been working a detail for the hillary clinton campaign. clinton gave her condolences to the victims. again, state police say danforth may have been trying to pass another car. they are asking for the driver to come forward with additional information. erin: a deadly crash in sugar hill is also under investigation. that accident happened about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. a car was headed south when it lost control, crossed the center median, and went on to the northbound side. the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. the name of the victim is not

the driver of the jeep suffered nonlife threatening injuries. fire officials are trying to figure out what sparked a fire -- that badly damaged a home in goffstown. the home started -- the fire started in an attached garage and quickly spread into the house. the red cross is helping two adults and three children displaced. republican presidential candidate jeb bush is doubling his new hampshire campaign staff . the campaign spokesperson said that it is shifting staff from the miami headquarters to the granite state before the primary on february 9. they will soon add up to 20 new republican campaign. >> half the primary vote is going to decide this race in the last seven days.

hampstead wants his sentence reduced. abraham depaula is serving 25-50 years in the home invasion. the homeowner was tortured and a family friend was sexually assaulted. abraham depaula was in the getaway car and his attorney asked that his sentence be reduced. prosecutors say his sentence would be increased if they had their way. two men are facing charges following a pot bust in portsmouth. investigators searched the car and found hydroponic marijuana. a man from massachusetts and a man from maine were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. coming up, a father takes action after running into a problem at s store. to change the diaper. erin: what he did to get the store to add diaper changing

worse than the big one of 1993. the u.s. army corps of engineers says the river has spilled over nine levees in the st. louis area. the strong current swept away homes and many people had to be rescued. the president thanked governor nixon for his efforts. the white house said the president has directed his staff to monitor the events and work with governor nixon to provide help. erin: comedian bill cosby has been arrested in connection with a decade-old sex crime. the 76-year-old is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home in pennsylvania in 2004. this morning, he is free on $1 million bail. this is the first time he has been charged despite years of allegations by dozens of women.

cosby did not enter a plea during his arraignment yesterday and is due back in court on january 14. the remains of a massachusetts man who disappeared on new year' s day in 2014 have been found. authorities are trying to figure out what happened to him. 37-year-old james robertson was kidnapped from his parents' home. four men are charged in connection to the kidnapping. it is too early to say whether homicide charges will be filed. an air canada flight had to be diverted after major turbulence injured 21 passengers, including three children. >> you see everything flying around. whoever did not put the seatbelt on, was flying around. >> it was just like in the roller coaster. the plane would just go down very straight. lots of screaming.

temperatures close to normal highs this time of year. back to our west, partial sunshine is the expectation over the next 3-4 days, with the exception of sunday, where we will have snow shower activity moving northwest to southeast across the area. as you will notice, temperatures within a few degrees of 32 degrees. that actual number of 32 is the most common number we are seeing through these 50 reporting stations this morning. bear that in mind. a lot of area roadways are treated. but then you get to the secondary roads or the shifts and elevations and the temperatures can move. we are looking at afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 30' s to lower 40' s close to the shoreline.
