are in the granite state today. bernie sanders, chris christie, hillary clinton, and marco rubio all hosted their first new hampshire town halls of 2016 , good evening. i' m jean mackin. with just five weeks until the first-in-the-nation primary, many candidates are revving up their campaigns to spend more time in new hampshire. senator bernie sanders was one of the candidates hosting town halls today. he held two in plaistow and newmarket. the democratic presidential hopeful also held a roundtable on senior issues. the event was in londonderry, traditionally a republican stronghold, but senator sanders drew a crowd and applause for his message of raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires. >> i want to make this point for the umpteenth time. the history of the world. millions should not be living in poverty. will be in laconia and

manchester. former secretary of state hillary clinton held three town halls across the state today. in derry, she talked about how she would fight for equal pay for women, something she says sets her apart from republican candidates. during the question-and-answer portion of the town hall, an emotional question was asked by a young girl who says her mother is dealing with substance abuse. she asked how clinton could help. >> i want to make sure we have more recovery and treatment programs so if someone knows they need help and they decide they want help, they can get help. jean: not everyone at the town hall was a supporter. catherine o' brien spoke without being called on, saying she was trying to ask clinton about her husband' s sexual impropriety years ago. >> you are very rude. i will not ever call on you. jean: tomorrow, bill clinton will make stops in new hampshire in support of his wife'

new jersey governor chris christie began his town hall in merrimack by calling out secretary clinton for not doing enough to fight isis. he called her " secretary happy talk." the republican presidential candidate also spoke against president obama' s plan to take executive action on gun control this week. >> you see, the president now is going to do something tomorrow by executive action about gun control. craziness. he knows he cannot get it through congress so he will do it by executive action as if he is king barack obama. jean: governor christie was in salem this afternoon. tomorrow, he will be in manchester and concord. marco rubio held a patriots-dolphins watch party today in atkinson but wisely managed to leave before the end of the game. the florida senator is a big miami dolphins fan, and usually doesn' t mind taking a ribbing at events in patriots nation.

colder. 29 degrees in manchester. 30 in concord. s in whitefield. this is just the start. the state. it has a few snow showers in higher elevations. you can see the clouds over hampshire. those will clear away by tomorrow morning. but you will feel a difference when you step out. temperatures in the teens for kids at the bus stop. we only get into the 20' s. with the wind, it will feel like single digits. how long does the cold air last? i will show you the seven-day forecast coming up. jean: the chairlift that a nashua boy fell from at ragged mountain was cleared to operate this morning. he was taken to the hospital but is going to be o.k. wmur' s mike cronin spoke to his father today about those frightening moments on the chairlift.

he joins us live with his story. reporter: this has been a nightmare for the boys father. he is horrified he could not save his son from falling. he said the lift was never stopped. when he got to the top, he ran down the trail his son was on. doug prangley took this picture of his twin sons just minutes before the scare. >> i did what i could. i was horrified, to be honest. reporter: prangley says they had regular mountain saturday afternoon. they were trying to pull down cameron slipped. >> i tried to hang on as much as i could. but i could not get him up. i dropped him 30 feet. reporter: after three hospital concussion, cameron is expected to be ok. >> it was my fault. i let him go.

reporter: prangley feels the mountain is partly to blame. he says no one was working at the shutdown button. >> i screamed as loud as i could for help. at that point, when i saw there was no one there, i knew it was on my shoulders. i thought i could hold him. i tried. reporter: dragon mountain says there were two people operating the lift, including the operations manager. cameron fell on a trail that is closed, so they did not know what happened until his dad reach the top. a state inspection on sunday found no mechanical issue and it was clear to open. prangley hopes others will be extra cautious at ski resorts. >> i do not want any parent to have the situation that i had, to watch your child fall and not know if he is going to be ok. that is the thing that will probably traumatize me forever.

the staff and prangley feel bad it happened, but are thankful cameron will be fine. jean: thanks, mike. one man died and a woman and child were hurt in a crash on interstate 89 in grantham last night. state police say their suv veered off 89 south into the median before hitting several trees around 7:30 last night. troopers say the man, who was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene. the woman was airlifted to dartmouth-hitchcock medical center with multiple injuries. the child suffered minor injuries. rochester police are warning people about a police impersonator. the department says someone approached two juveniles on hanson street in a crown victoria with flashing lights shortly before 5:00 yesterday evening. the man told the kids it was illegal to carry a baseball bat and took it from them. he was last seen driving north on wakefield street. police say the man was wearing a uniform with one arm patch and a badge.

anyone with information is urged to contact rochester police. rochester police are also investigating a fire as suspicious. police say this trailer at the rochester fair grounds was destroyed by a fire on december 26. investigators say they could not find a reason for the fire to start naturally. anyone with information is asked to call police. a driver was arrested after a state police aircraft recorded him driving at 105 miles per hour in a 70 zone. 21-year-old paul kimble of laconia was arrested for reckless driving. state troopers say he was driving northbound on i-93 in new hampton and passing other cars in the left lane. as you have probably heard by now, nobody won powerball last night, which means the jackpot is jumping. wednesday' s jackpot is estimated at $400 million. that makes it one of the top 10 largest prizes in the game' s history. while no one won yesterday' s
