jennifer: tonight will bring the coldest temperatures of the season so far. tom: you're taking a look live outside our newsroom here in manchester, where it is a very chilly 15 degrees right now. meteorologist josh judge tells us how long it's been since cold. josh: yes, last night was the first night and tonight will eclipse it. but how long has it's been since we've been below zero? because not everywhere will go below zero. certainly northern new hampshire, and a chance that parts of central new hampshire could go below zero as well. so how long has it's been? concord it was march 7, and even longer ago for manchester, february 28 was the last time that we were below zero. keene was march 7, and berlin, the most recent, was march 20. that was only 41 weeks ago. but many other parts of the state between 43 and 44 weeks ago. i mentioned last night was the coldest night we've seen so far,

even the north country hasn't gone below zero yet with one exception, it's presently minus 8 there. even mount washington has only gone below zero five times in year, that twas twice in november, twice in december and once this month, meaning today. now let's take a look at this cold air and will it go below zero or where it might happen, mike haddad has details on that. mike: yes, we are tracking the cold air building in, it's colder right now than it was this morning sowrks get the idea it's going to be quite chilly, but not cold enough just yet due to some very strong winds to create an ice sheet out there. still open water at the weirs, and newfound lake. there were clouds in southern and eastern sections, but as you can tell radar scopes are high and dry all over new hampshire. the only snow to be had right now over the southeastern section of massachusetts and down towards the cape due that

the relatively warm waters of the atlantic and winds out of the north. if they were to turn around to the east, then we start to see snow moving in from that direction, but the wind remain off shore right through tomorrow. down to three in berlin, two in whitefield, 8 below atop mount washington. right at 10 in jaffrey and keene. so all these temperatures about as low as they've been all day long and even earlier this morning, so we're going to be talking about some bitterly cold air into early tomorrow. wind chills, some spots below zero like in plymouth and the upper valley, with the winds about 15 to 20 miles per hour. overnight tonight the wind go light, down about 10 to 15 below up north, on average around zero lakes region down to concord, a little below this the upper valley, if the wind go light enough. same story in keene, about two or three above and a little coastline. notice the cold air locked in over the east, but it moves out

wednesday, so that by wednesday afternoon our temperatures will be running above the average yet again. so only a two-day cold snap here with the temperatures more seasonable and pleasant for wednesday, thursday, friday and even into the weekend. speaking of the weekend, a lot of cold air begins to surge in over the plains states, warm air off the eastern seaboard, that means the weather pattern will become more active. how active, still in question. but it does look like a little bit of light snow at least likely in spots on saturday, and maybe another system to track later sunday into sunday night. right now it's on the dry side, notice on future cast, clear skies, lots of sun for the day tomorrow and more sun into the day on wednesday. in terms of temperatures, we top off on average in the upper teens north, 20's elsewhere tomorrow and then milder, 30's to around 40 as we go into wednesday, so again this cold air will not stick around all that long. beyond wednesday, temperatures not all that bad for thursday with a lot of sun, upper 30's to
6:19 pm
lower to mid 30's north, partial sun on friday. a little light snow can't be ruled out on saturday, we'll track that closely and see if another system follows it later on sunday. tom: now we await the second season, right? >> that's right, playoffs in the nfl, that means some coaching changes. we know chip kelly was fired from the eagles, he's on the job
