andover. that fire broke out at a home shortly afternoon yesterday. m sean mcdonald. while this was initially called in as a propane explosion, investigators say there was no s ray brewer is live in andover where people are ray? ray: sean, the town says that some sort of remembrance will eventually be planned, but right now they aren' t sure what form that will take. the fire thursday afternoon at 189 kearsarge mountain road, according to officials, started in a brush pile. by the time firefighters arrived , a man was already dead. while the victim hasn' t been officially identified, neighbors are mourning his loss. dan: he did nothing but try to promote the community spirit. anybody that met him he tried to help. ray: dan bezon watched the

motel. jazzmyn rood, the mother of eye tarmey, is having a bail hearing today. last month, rood asked a judge to reduce her $10,000 bail. prosecutors say rood knew her daughter was being provided drugs the night of her deadly overdose at a rochester motel. two others are also charged in tarmey' s death. a woman is currently fighting for her life this noon after a serious pedestrian accident in manchester. it happened yesterday evening on west auburn street near the market basket on elm. police say the driver of a volkswagen jetta hit a female pedestrian. the woman was taken to the elliot hospital with several serious injuries. the driver was not hurt. a man pulled over by state police for a vehicle problem finds himself and even more trouble.

point, and the nasdaq is up by about 13 points. the labor department has just released the latest unemployment figures today, and they show a positive picture for the economy. american employers added nearly 300,000 jobs in december. it was the second best year for jobs gains since 1999. americans saw their paychecks go up as well. wages grew 2.5% in december. for all of 2015, the economy added 2.65 million jobs. powerball mania -- the jackpot for saturday' s powerball drawing continues to climb. right now, it is at $800 million, which works out to a cash value of about $496 million, and that number is expected to grow. this jackpot is setting a record for the largest powerball jackpot in history, topping the previous record prize of $656 million. wondering about the luckiest powerball numbers to play? check out wmur.com. we' ve got you covered.

meantime, a philadelphia police officer is in stable condition this noon after being shot while police say the officer was ambushed and had to undergo surgery overnight. authorities say the suspect fired a total of 13 shots. one of the scariest things i' ve ever seen. i mean, this guy tried to the police officer had no idea that he was coming. sean: the officer returned fire and shot the suspect. right now, that suspect is in custody. the new york prison officer, killers escape, is expected to appear in court today. helped inmates richard matt and david sweat escape from the clinton correctional facility by giving them hacksaw blades palmer is charged with two counts of promoting prison evidence and one count of official misconduct. rain. lightly.

>> now, meteorologist kevin skarupa with your stormwatch 9 forecast. kevin: start of the week with the arctic temperatures, and then things started to let up across the area. we went into the 30' s and even lower 40' s the last couple of days with sunshine and light winds. now the clouds have drifted back in across the southern half of these eight. colebrook, several other areas, the foothills, great north woods, we currently at the present time continue on with the sunshine, but even there the clouds continue to win on through the afternoon from a completely separate system. what we have been watching -- the clouds come in on an east and northeast wind coming in off the ocean. you' ll notice pass the west,

sean: several ski areas across the state are taking part in a world record attempt today. it is part of a nationwide effort for the most ski and snowboard lessons taught in a single day. at least eight mountains in new hampshire are offering a 10 for $10 deal. for $10 starting at 10:00, you could have gotten a level one lesson and a chance to be part of history. we will find out of that actually happened when they tally up the numbers. all the singles ladies and, well, america will be putting their hands up during the super bowl. beyonce is returning to halftime show. she will join coldplay for the game on february 7th at the home of the san francisco 49ers. beyonce headlined the super bowl show in 2013, so this is a quick return for her. she recently collaborated with coldplay for the band' s new album. always a big draw.
