in to help. >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now wmur "news 9 daybreak." erin: good morning. thanks for starting your week off with us. i'm erin fehlau. sean: we had 50 degrees and rain. tomorrow we have cold air and snow. kevin: such is life in new england. we're looking at temperatures early this morning falling back through the 30's and upper 20's. with that, a couple of slick spots. there were some spots over two inches of rainfall yesterday. they had a couple of rumbles of thunder. they start off with country. there's the chance with the lake effect snow going back to the west western parts of the state. see a few of those snow showers through the day. temperatures holding from the upper 20's to lower 30's. the wind still gusting over 30 miles an hour, adding the extra bite to the air. much more on the chance

the key endorsement. that's a first for presidential primary politics. sean: the political arm of planned parenthood offered their support yesterday during an event in hooksett. ray brewer is live in manchester to break down the endorsement. good morning, ray. ray: good morning. planned parenthood making the announcement during a campaign event for hillary clinton in southern new hampshire university with hundreds of people in attendance. now this is the first time that the organization has publicly backed a presidential primary. the clinton says she's always fought to protect women's reproductive rights. she could continue the fight in the white house. planned parenthood has become a bit of a lightning rod in the election. the group says its endorsing early in order to remind voters about what it calls extreme positions from republicans on women's health. >> they've all vowed to ban safe and legal abortion. they have pledged to appeal the affordable care act ending

birth control for 55 million women in america. they have sworn to block planned parenthood access for millions of patients in the country? >> planned parenthood should be funded, supported, and appreciated. not undermined, misrepresented, and demonized. i believe -- ray: planned parenthood says it plans to spend $20 million during the 2016 elections. it also says that none of the money will be used to criticize clinton's main opponent in the democratic primary, bernie sanders. live in manchester, wmur news 9. erin: all five paid members of the pro-ben carson super p.a.c. in new hampshire have quit in order to volunteer for the ted cruz campaign. the staff said they decided that cruz is the conservative most likely to win. they also say they were frustrated by the limited time that carson

granite state. this comes less than two weeks after two new hampshire staffers left the carson campaign. the new mayor should look pretty familiar to you. jim donchess was sworn in yesterday. he served as the mayor from 1984 to 1992. twice nashua was named the best place to live in america. this time he says he will focus on fighting the heroin epidemic and the municipal basics. sean: the extradition of el chapo is underway. it could be months before he crosses the border. he was just recaptured after his latest escape from a maximum security prison. stephanie ramos reports. sean: good morning. after his recapture, he may be headed to the united states. the formal start to the extradition process to

frozen with temperatures mark. you'll notice the partly cloudy skies along with the snow showers up north this morning. effect snow going through central parts of new york. it may try to reach its way in to western or the state later this morning. it could mean an isolated inch or two of snow. temperatures from the lower 30's to a few upper 20's. winds sustained at 10-20 plus miles an hour. winds gusting over 25 to even 30 miles an hour. i think this continues through a good part of the day today. still breezy later on tonight. temperatures by mid afternoon settling down in the mid 20's out of the monadnock region to right around the freezing mark closer to the shoreline. either side of 30. again we're going to watch for the potential in the western and northern half of the state for some today. we can't rule out a flurry or two in south eastern areas of the state later today. we'll drop back in the single digits up north as the snow showers on this evening.

we start with sunshine tomorrow morning only to add clouds and light snow right around late afternoon. as you will notice, we'll stop this here at about 9:00 tomorrow morning. light snow is a possibility. a little bit of a mix closer to the shoreline. looks like we'll have some light snow developing just before the evening commute. that would be the biggest impact. from there, you'll notice how quickly it races away tomorrow evening for a quick one to three inches of accumulation. beyond that, back to the fair skies and colder temperatures on wednesday with a good wind. highs will be in the 20's. winds will make it feel more like the teens. winds continuing to gust. that starts to lighten through the evening. down to a much lighter wind later on tonight. high temperatures today where we sit early this morning from the mid to upper 20's to lower range of the 30's by mid afternoon. you'll notice the chance of light snow clearing away on wednesday. looks like fair skies through friday. the next system tries to arrive on saturday.

sean: a massive octopus has invaded a community in minnesota thanks to three brothers. erin: they made the monster out of snow. look at it. the brothers make a new sculpture every year to charity. this year they are donating the money to help bring clean water to haiti. it took them 500 hours to make that octopus. apparently they do have a lot of snow in minnesota to make this. sean: enough to work with. they did a good job. erin: it is wonderful.

come true in iowa thanks to some creative nurses. erin: a little girl at the iowa children's hospital is battling cancer and has never been able to play in the snow. bella was glued to the window. her nurses gathered up a pile of it and brought it inside. she got to make a snowman which she named olaf which is her favorite character from "frozen." definitely made that little girl's week, month, year -- she even tasted it too. sean: you've got to eat the snow. erin: a little snowball fight as well. sean: coming up, a great concert this weekend. inside home depot thanks to creative local stars. erin: do you feel like you

face the judge today. 31-year-old everton sterling of new york was arrested in portsmouth in a hotel on charges of possession of drugs with the intent to police say during a search of his person and hotel room officers found $16,000 worth of cocaine, some marijuana, and $2,500 in cash. sterling is scheduled to be arraigned later this morning. sean: a man accused of killing a little girl in more than is due in court today. michael mccarthy is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge. authorities say he killed his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter, 2-year-old bella bond. her body was found last june. her mother, rachelle bond, is accused of being an an accessory after murder. mccarthy's lawyer claims he knew nothing about her death claiming the mother said she was taken away by the state.

director of the dartmouth addiction and recovery center. watch the live state of the union address right here on wmur tomorrow night. sean: dozens of people were trapped inside a burning hotel. the fire broke out yesterday morning at the country motor lodge in sturbridge. all 16 guest rooms for destroyed. some vehicles parked outside were damaged. several guests, including member of a wedding party had to be helped out of the building. some of them say they never heard an alarm. >> it was horrible. i mean i'll never want to stay in a hotel again. ever. the fact that the smoke detectors didn't go out. sean: other guests say they did hear smoke alarms. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. it may have been started by a cigarette in a trash bin. erin: a recent study shows that the size of your server at a restaurant may impact how much food you eat. a study by cornell

it's been a great season weather-wise. kevin: it has. there's been a couple where there's been some heavy rain. we skew cold for most of this week with a couple of disturbances we are tracking. the first one giving us the chance of light snow tomorrow afternoon. could be a quick one to three inches. it is a quick moving. it is isn't going to last more than six to eight hours. it could be around for the evening commute tomorrow. it will continue today with snow shower activity. temperatures hovering within a few degrees of 30. feeling much colder than that with the wind. remaining chilly through friday. you can see how skies have cleared nicely. we continue to have the snow showers up north. westerly wind through the day may send some of the lake effect snow you are seeing back to the west in to western or north western parts of the state in to the afternoon. then the next disturbance rounding the bin this morning. it arrives here tomorrow afternoon with more light snow chances. temperatures within a

freezing mark. this means any moisture left in area roadways will have a chance to dry up before temperatures drop below freezing. could be slick in a few spots. otherwise some sunshine for the southern half of the state and kind of a back and forth in to the and sun. up north, the occasional morning. i the those have a tendency to keep going. the winds still gusting at times over 30 miles an hour this morning. we'll continue to see the brick winds through the day. remaining breezy later tonight. afternoon anywhere from the upper half of the southern areas. the wind is going to make it feel colder than that through the partial sunshine. this is the line of lake effect snow that at least future cast is thinking could survive the trip all the way over the green mountain ofs. there's the potential for central and northern state.

temperatures fall off. tomorrow look for a general increase in clouds. as we stop this for you, light snow around. this could be around for the evening commute as well. it will be more of a wintry mix. a quick one to three inches of snow a possibility. it is gone later on tuesday evening as quickly as it arrives tomorrow afternoon. from there, fair skies, brisk conditions for wednesday, highs in the 20's. wind chills in the teens. then we remain chilly through the end of the week. a couple of snow showers out west. we drop back between the upper single digits later on tonight to lower 20's closer to the shoreline. extended forecast has the light snow chance. only real impact here could be the evening commute especially if it gets going by 2:00 or 3:00 or 4:00. it is a quick one to three inches of snow. it is fair skies through the end of the week. the next system will be a system trying to ride of the east coast. could be a mixture of rain or snow.

erin: it is now 6:54. updating our top stories. sean: we're following some breaks news out of hudson. a jeep crashed in to the hudson community church around 5:00 this morning. about two hours ago. the jeep hit a column that supports the main entrance to the church and slammed through the glass window before stopping inside the building. the driver, eddie garcia, was arrested on a charge of dwi. erin: fire officials are trying to figure out what sparked an overnight fire. the fire broke out around 3:00 this morning. no one was hurt. the fire is not considered to be suspicious. sean: a man accused of killing a little girl in massachusetts is due in court today. michael mccarthy is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge. he killed bella bond. her body was found in june. erin: environmental officials
